Following on from my previous thread about haggling (which I'm utterly rubbish at - point proven today upon purchase of car), what car do you have, what year is it, and do you like it?

I had absolutely no interest in cars until about three years ago, and now I love reading about them, finding out what's reliable, what's good value, what's fun to drive, etc.

Please indulge me on a quiet Saturday eve Smile

I've got a Hartge mini cooper and I worship the ground she drives on. definitely not the most practical car with a 6 year old and a job with horses 🙈🙈

Ginnotgym · 06/01/2018 19:08

Range Rover Evoque SD4 Dynamic

Love it! Nippy and comfortable.

lastnamefirstfirstnamelast · 06/01/2018 19:08

Bmw M3.

Love it. Love it even more now theres a dvd player in the head rests for the kids. Makes travelling longer than 1hr easier.

My DH and I own an 09 too spec auto golf GTI which I lurveeeee so much! Great fun to drive but I think we may need to replace it and it has a lot of miles on it and is becoming a bit of a money pit Sad

We also lease a brand new Skoda Yeti, which is a great car, if not a bit heavy on petrol. Could be worse though.

Ghostonthedancefloor · 06/01/2018 19:12

Nissan Navara. It's a fucking pain in the arse. But we need it for camping and we have a horse. I'd love a second car as a little run around but we only have room to park one car.

Jeffstar79 · 06/01/2018 19:12

Volvo XC60 is fab to drive and big enough to fit a multitude of kids and dogs in. We're out on the sticks so great for muddy country lanes wouldn't be so keen in the city. Also loved my Ford c-max and s-maxs and Lexus CT200 though.

Lules · 06/01/2018 19:13

A Nissan Juke and I hate it. Looks massive but there’s actually no space. Not that nice to drive but then I am comparing it to my previous Nissan z370. Bloody kids spoiling all my fun Smile

ghostyslovesheets · 06/01/2018 19:15

Ford Kuga 4x4

third one I've owned - I really like them - nippy, fairly economical, roomy in the back

StylishMummy · 06/01/2018 19:16

Peugeot 3008, love if, would highly recommend. Competes with Nissan duke etc but far cheaper

Nicae · 06/01/2018 19:19

Audi A5 which is great, massive boot, can fit a double buggy in plus the shopping, or two travel cots plus single buggy and luggage when we've gone on holiday. It is quite low though and can be tricky to get little ones in and out of car seats.

Evelynismyformerspyname · 06/01/2018 19:19

Constant will you do a spreadsheet/ summary? :o Which makes of car do owners love (Volvo, Kia, Skoda, BMW?) and which makes do owners hate (Nissan...?)

I had a fiat before my current car - it was a steaming pile of unreliable poo which constantly broke down and needed regular massive repairs once the standard 3 years warranty ran out, think it had built in obsolescence Shock

RockinRobinTweets · 06/01/2018 19:22

@ilovecoleslaw

I had one and a baby and fit a baby jogger city mini in, no probs. It was a great little car and so cheap!

Discovery Sport. Absolutely love it. Great comfortable drive. Big boot. 7 seat option.

Itsjanuary · 06/01/2018 19:24

Tesla model x - love it! Drives really well

Allice · 06/01/2018 19:24

I have a 66 plate Mini Countryman. It's ok, it's my second, loved the first but not so sure about this one, probably won't have another

Fluffyunicorns · 06/01/2018 19:25

Mini convertible - treat to myself now ta only me and DD at home and I don’t have to cart all DS’s cricket stuff around anymore. It makes me smile every time I drive it x

Longdistance · 06/01/2018 19:25

I currently have an Insignia Tourer. It was a rush but when we moved back from Oz.

We’re looking at

Mercedes GLA
Toyota CHR
Audi Q3
Possibly Mazda CX3

kezsha · 06/01/2018 19:30

2016 Kia Sportage. Love it. Room for 3 dogs, new baby and pram.

Montsti · 06/01/2018 19:30

I’ve got a 2 year old Audi Q7 which I absolutely love! Amazing drive/acceleration, 7 seater, cameras so easy to park, loads of room etc...

My last car was also a Q7 and we loved that but just wanted a new model...I think I’d struggle to have any other car going forward. We did think about the new Volvo XC90 but opted for the the Q7...

I need a 7 seater as I’ve got 4 kids...

SpeckledyHen · 06/01/2018 19:31

2 year old Black John Cooper Works Mini recently replaced a 14 year old Pepoer Whilte Mini Cooper S . Love / loved them both .

Originalfoogirl · 06/01/2018 19:33

Peugeot 3008, love it

Mr Foo is getting one of these in a couple of weeks. Can’t wait. He has a Citroen DS at the moment and I hate it.

I have a VW touran which needs replacing in June. It is soooooooo dull, but we need the boot space for wheelchair / walking frame. Thinking of a 5008.

Ghostonthedancefloor · 06/01/2018 19:33

Ps this is a really good thread for those who are thinking of changing cars but not sure what to!

switswoo81 · 06/01/2018 19:36

Just upgraded my juke to a Tucson. Loved my juke but it was tiny, couldn’t have a passenger when dd was in car seat. Tucson is amazing huge boot very comfy for long journeys but big to park in the city.

constantchange · 06/01/2018 19:37

Love all the replies, thanks everyone!

Laughed so much at this:

Volvo s60. Fantastic for safety, space etc but fucking awful turning circle. Like trying to turn the titanic.

Can totally sympathise, had a Volvo hatchback not so long ago and it was absolutely awful in every possible way. Slow, heavy, constantly went wrong, terrible turning circle, expensive to fix. Never again.

Just got a DS3 and it's bloody awesome.
