To ask what car you have and whether you like it?

Following on from my previous thread about haggling (which I'm utterly rubbish at - point proven today upon purchase of car), what car do you have, what year is it, and do you like it?

I had absolutely no interest in cars until about three years ago, and now I love reading about them, finding out what's reliable, what's good value, what's fun to drive, etc.

Please indulge me on a quiet Saturday eve Smile

BMW X1, l like it better as a S drive, very smooth to drive and the heated seats are a godsend in this bloody weather. The X drive l had previously was very heavy to drive and the X drive only kicked in once in the 3 years l had it so not worth the extra money.
DD2 has a peugot 208 1.4L and l love it. I drive it to work when she is not using it, it's very sporty..

I have a Ford C-Max 05 plate. Don't like it. It does what it needs to but it is like a tank and no fun to drive. Is good in the back for teenagers with growing legs.

Had a Golf TDI which I loved but it got to about 125,000 or so miles and needed more and more doing to it so it had to go.

DH has a 2000 plate Saab convertible which he loves Smile And we drive with the roof down quite often (on New Year's Eve and Christmas Day most recently

NoodieRoodie · 06/01/2018 20:13

Another Ford Grand Tourneo owner here and I love it! 7 seater, decent boot, can happily fit 7 adults if needed. I smile every time I drive it

Skowvegas · 06/01/2018 20:26

Subaru Outback. I got home through 8" of snow the other day so I'm pretty happy with it. It drives nicely too, and the boot has plenty of space for the dog.

Rachie1986 · 06/01/2018 20:28

Beetle (2008). I adore it!

BishopBrennansArse · 06/01/2018 20:31

6 month old Seat Alhambra - adore it.
Electric everything and space for both mine and DD's wheelchairs plus hoist.
Life changing.

SqueeksAway · 06/01/2018 20:31

Mini Cooper convertible - I truly adores it Grin

ihatetosay · 06/01/2018 20:32

Citreon C1 6 years old brilliant little car love it goes like a bomb

Teenagerwoes · 06/01/2018 20:35

Nissan Micra, 6 years old! I love it!
It’s deceivingly roomy and I sit higher up than I did in my last car (corsa), love my little bubble lights and it’s got bluetooth and a built in sat nav, makes me feel very fancy Grin.
Dh does keep pointing out that most Micra’s we see are driven by pensioners but who cares!

DecisionTree · 06/01/2018 20:36

Mini cooper here in electric blue. I luffs it.

SuperBeagle · 06/01/2018 20:36

We have a Toyota Landcruiser and a Kia Cerato.

Love them both. We need a 4WD because we live in the mountains (and have four kids), but the Kia was my choice and I bloody love it. It's had zero problems, it's a pleasure to drive, and it looks lovely inside and out (S Premium model).

Wouldn't buy a European car.

OhForFrigSake · 06/01/2018 20:41

Mini John Cooper Works here in black. Absolutely love it. Super nippy and the engine noise gives me goosebumps.

RaindropsAndSparkles · 06/01/2018 20:41

Ford SMax. V serviceable. DC grown. Looking at something smaller soon:

Audi A3
BMW 2 series

Love the new A class merc but need something higher up for bad back.

Any ideas?

Longdistance · 06/01/2018 20:45

@ratrolypoly I love driving my Insignia tourer too, but it’s too long. The boot is massive, and I had to buy an AA road map to find my way around it. It is very well proportioned regarding the back seats, and it’s a shit off a shovel to drive. Can beat anyone at the lights Blush and block people from cutting you up. I have not had one single problem with my car, and it’s 7 years old. It’s my second Insignia too, the first was bought brand new.

I can ditto on the Nissan X-trail for reliability, but it’s like a slug to drive. No pull. Brilliant for space though. Had one in Oz for two years, and it was snapped up.

MsJuniper · 06/01/2018 20:46

I have an 06 3-dr Fiesta, bought new. Love it - it's been reliable, nippy and has fitted in an amazing amount of stuff. In the last year it's started to show its age plus I'm pregnant with DC2 so would like to get something new with back doors and isofix.

Thinking of a c max so interested to read the reviews here and also getting other ideas.

WaitrosePigeon · 06/01/2018 20:48

I have an Audi A1. It’s absolutely faultless but it’s getting a bit tight in the back for the DC, aged 7 & 4.

I think we are going to change it soon. Probably get an A3. I like Audi.

TheIrregularChoice · 06/01/2018 20:49

Peugeot 308 SW, the estate version. It’s a Allure model, which is the second highest spec. 2016 model, 1.6 diesel.
I adore it! Loads of space and it’s a pleasure to drive. Two children in car seats in the back, and the middle seat and its belt are still usable. Plus we fit all our camping gear (and we camp in comfort!) in the boot.

BonnieF · 06/01/2018 20:51

BMW M135i. It's like a normal 1 series, but much quicker. It's a fantastic car, really sporty with what feels like limitless acceleration.

The main drawback is that it's completely useless in the snow.

Bratsandtwats · 06/01/2018 20:52

Audi A3 and I LOVE it!

First time I've ever seen the lure of just driving for drivings sake, rather than to get from point a to point b.

ArtisanBaps · 06/01/2018 20:52

BMW X1 XLine.
It feels nice and high up, not bothered if it’s fast as I pootle around. Boot size ok generally. It has cream leather interior so feels lovely and bright inside. I’d always go for this colour now.

If money was no object I’d have a BMW X6 . DH brought one home from work one time and it was fab.

KatoPotato · 06/01/2018 20:52

Ford BMax. Absolutely love it. It has sliding rear doors and no central pillar so getting kids in and out is a breeze!

Jb291 · 06/01/2018 20:53

Automatic Å KODA Citigo. Comfy to drive and nippy. Would highly recommend

JaneEyre70 · 06/01/2018 20:56

Mini Cooper S - only 3 weeks old but my god I LOVE IT!! It's got a throaty roar, throws you back in the seat when you accelerate and it feels like a bad girls car to drive, even though I'm a 47 year old grandmother Grin. I literally can't stop smiling when I'm in it, and it's a dream of a car.

I've always had the very old and shit to drive family bus - Seat Alhambra, Renault grand scenic - and had a complete hissy fit when DH was looking at yet another sports car so I now have the "fun" car and he's getting the workhorse (Evoque).

llangennith · 06/01/2018 20:56

Ford Galaxy. Love it.
