To ask what car you have and whether you like it?

Following on from my previous thread about haggling (which I'm utterly rubbish at - point proven today upon purchase of car), what car do you have, what year is it, and do you like it?

I had absolutely no interest in cars until about three years ago, and now I love reading about them, finding out what's reliable, what's good value, what's fun to drive, etc.

Please indulge me on a quiet Saturday eve Smile

...to have more than one for 'fun frivolous' reasons as one poster put it, is a bit much in these polluted times.

How? You can only drive one at a time... Confused

Brunhildafair · 07/01/2018 10:47

Renault Captur...nearly 2 years old. I love it. Automatic, raised height and very nippy...also fairly good on fuel economy. Two colourway, black and Ivory.....it looks really smart.Have it for 3 years on lease...fairly sure I will replace with the same. I like looking at it through the kitchen window !

Lethaldrizzle · 07/01/2018 10:50

Khalli - I guess it leaves their main car for the dh to drive so that would be 2 cars on the road at the same time. More car ownership is not really the answer

Shmithecat · 07/01/2018 10:51

Lethal, I have 2 cars. My husband has 8 in total. There's still no way we can drive more than one each at the same time. How is it 'a bit much?? ConfusedHmm

I have a 2007 vivid blue (name of the colour) Honda Civic 2.2 TDI hatchback 🚙.
Very nippy, I love it, quite comfy for a sporty model, but because it’s a diesel and they are now not seen as pollution friendly, we are thinking of going back to petrol.
So I’m reading this thread with interest so I can get some ideas for a replacement at some point.

I confess I really don’t like the phasing out of sunroofs. I just feel the air circulates more comfortably when using the sunroof as opposed to windows. Our fiat had a big glass roof & it was nice as it made it feel more spacious.

@RebbeccaJane12....Do you purposely make her growl ?

Fiat 500. Don't use it much but I do rather love it.

Jeep Renegade diesel. Oh my God this is the car from hell. Thankfully it's a lease and there will be a celebratory party when it goes back in August. From the day it was delivered brand new we've had rattles nobody can track down. It creaks, and moans over every hole in the road. The Sat Nav takes a good 5 minutes to decide it's going to work and when it eventually does it often shuts down the entire cars entertainment system with it (including bluetooth calls). Handbrake is electronic and frequently sticks.

Jeep have had it in several times and proclaimed it fixed. It's not. If we'd bought this heap of shit we'd be outside the dealers at this point rejecting it.

Electric Renault Zoe and an Audi TT.

I have a 2014 Toyota SW4. I think it's too big but we needed a 7 seater, 4 wheel drive, with some boot space so needs must, not much option. I also have a 2015 Fiat Palio, similar to a punto which I love, nippy and easy to drive, not attention grabbing. Both are Flex which means they run on either petrol or alcohol. The Toyota is used for the farm and road trips with the whole family, palio is my day to day car. DH has a motorbike, he hates cars. But he can haggle like a pro as we live in a land where haggling is the norm, so he got a good deal on both cars.

2015 Mazda 2 petrol in red. My first car ever having come to driving relatively late (late 30s). Also signed for it on the spur of the moment without taking a test drive (don't have licence yet) or doing any research... Not good, I know!

The verdict three years later? It is a fantastic little car and makes me smile every time I see it. I never thought I'd become so attached to a car.

Jasmin82 · 07/01/2018 15:20

I have a 2010 Mercedes A class, which goes by the name of "Baba Merc". I absolutely love it. Due to back issues, my next car will need to have the same ride height, so already looking at newer "old" A classes and used B classes. My reasoning? It's taken me this long to figure out everything about this car, I'm not changing make!

Kizzibel · 07/01/2018 15:30

I have a Citroen Cactus and I love him, decent space and headroom, comfy, clean diesel, very economical and tax only £20. It was love at first sight

Pugsleypugs · 07/01/2018 16:08

Audi Q5. It's lovely to drive, spacious, big boot. I do a lot of driving and it's very comfortable whereas others I've had have given me backache after a while on longer journeys.

Lethaldrizzle my husband and I have a car each. He drives to work in the morning and leaves it sitting out in the car park all day. I use mine during the day for kid-ferrying, shopping, work etc. Very rarely are we probably on the road at the same time but if we are we’re probably miles apart and going in different directions. If we didn’t have a we each we’d be seriously stuck, we live out in the sticks.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 07/01/2018 17:35

car each, bloody autocorrect.
