DP startled me.

Ok - he didn't do it on purpose, but it made me cry out, and then he got cross with me.
Back to school today - DS and I downstairs, Dp comes into the living room, chats, and disappears into the kitchen (or so I think).
DS and I go back upstairs to finish getting ready, and I walk into our bedroom which is pitch black (very efficient blackout blinds) so I fumble my way to the window to open them. Suddenly there's a male voice, and I yelped. DP had gone back to bed, and I thought he was in the kitchen. I then got "Oh for fuck's sake!" because he was cross with me. DS also said "You didn't need to scream"
It was involuntary - I didn't decide to scream.
Now I'm wondering if I'm like that Catherine Tate character. AIBU?

If someone wakes me from sleep AngryAngryAngryAngry

Dh is a bit of a screamer and it drives me and ds fucking mad. The other day he let out a big shriek and lots of yells and we ignored him.

Get downstairs and he's pulling a splinter out of the bottom of his foot that was well over an inch long. Angry Teach me to ignore his screams again!

RunningOutOfCharge · 04/01/2018 09:39

Butchy no not at all lovey

Birdietweet · 04/01/2018 09:40

‘Oh ffs’ used all the time between me and dh. If I startled him he would say this as would I.

Op your ds needs squashing and tell him if you fancy a scream you will.

I honestly don’t see any issues here. This senario happens in most houses regularly I would say.

RunningOutOfCharge · 04/01/2018 09:40

imyourgirl how had he managed that!?

Cantuccit · 04/01/2018 09:41

YANBU OP. Your blinds sound fab. Where are they from?

imyourgirl · 04/01/2018 09:42

@RunningOutOfCharge it came from a floor board! He was nearly passing out it hurt so much and I was trying to contain my rage at missing the worlds best splinter ever. Grin

Northernparent68 · 04/01/2018 09:44

Op, can I suggest you get treatment for your anxiety, this is a miserable situation for both of you

RedForFilth · 04/01/2018 09:45

I'm very jumpy due to past abuse. Everything makes me jump, sometimes I scream, sometimes my heart races for minutes after, I've cried a couple of times even though I haven't been upset! Some people jump out at me for a laugh to see what my reaction will be although I do find it funny too after!
If getting involved with a partner I make it clear I'm jumpy and explain why. I had an ex that got angry at it and I hated it so won't tolerate it again. Bit different for you as you're in a ltr. I'd try and educate your son about tolerance and kindness though.

Based on a single incident?

Or are you on the wrong thread? Grin

BastardGoDarkly · 04/01/2018 09:48

Same here Birdie I'm jumpy, and if shocked would say... Ffs!!?.... Dh would probably give a ffs in return for mine.

Ds might give an eye roll and grump ... Do you have to swear?!....

Hope you've had a cuppa and moved on op Brew

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 04/01/2018 09:49

Anxiety? What because she was startled? Madness.

paxillin · 04/01/2018 09:50

I'm jumpy. DH often announces his movements and people around me ahem and rustle a lot because they know I jump.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 04/01/2018 09:59

Yes same here Paxillin. Dh will whistle or sing to let me know he's coming into a room Grin

00100001 · 04/01/2018 10:00

I go up this morning, went down stairs and said hello to the cat and fed it. then... THEN, I went backupstairs, went to the loo, and the cat was on the landing.

I love Catherine Tate

Flippetydip · 04/01/2018 10:08

Good grief, was it everyone's new year's resolution to be as bitchy as possible to people you've never met on the internet. Well done, you're doing awfully well.

OP - I also think my DH would have apologised in that circumstance, not got cross. It would have shocked me too to be fair.
