To hate the dog

We have a 10 week old puppy . I am 8 weeks pregnant with the most horrendous morning day and night sickness and my sense of smell through the roof.
The dog is NOT house trained and seems to be going backwards rather than improving. He is shitting and pissing EVERYWHERE. Pooing in his own bed. Eating his own poo. Vomiting his poo up. Weeing in his own bed. His bed is washed multiple times a day, new beds have been bought.
I can't cope . I am crying everyday with it all it's disgusting. I dread waking up in the morning feeling sick, being sick and then cleaning up all the piss and shit he's left all over the kitchen floor . I can't stand him being near me . I'm at a complete loss st what to do but I'm absolutely miserable and hate living in my house with him. Please help Sad

How are you doing, OP?

emilybella · 06/01/2018 20:05

Hi OP. I know having a puppy is tough we have a 6 month old cockapoo. We would be happy to provide your pup a new home should you decide it's best. Sorry I would have private messaged or something but couldn't work out how. Feel free to message me. Puppy's are very tough so I can feel your pain x

Yabu, but also it’s a very stressful time! You need to keep letting them out (a LOT!) and only coming in when they’ve peed, big big praise for peeing or pooping. It’s a very lengthy and boring time but unfortunately you need to do it or get it rehomed whilst it’s a puppy and has a good chance

On another thread it was mentioned that french bulldogs are deformed and suffer pain in their bones and find it difficult to breathe as they have small nostrils.

How can people be allowed to breed them?

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 06/01/2018 22:17

cherry a vet developed a mask that people could put in that showed what it felt like to a brachycephalic (short nosed) dog trying to bresthe. Few people could stand it for more than a few minutes Sad

As a vet, this thread ticks all the boxes that make me sad:
Trendy brachy breed
Christmas pup
Backyard breeder
No research
Unsuitable home

I appreciate the OP is not in the best situation to have this (or any) puppy right now, but researching a breed/ puppy should have been done long before this puppy was ever thought of. I really despair of the buying and selling of animals on Gumtree of similar. This is a pet you might have for 15 years. It will cost you more than your car in the long run.
People put more energy into researching a car that they will replace after 2 years than a dog they might have for 15. I just do not understand I t

Thanks Platypus. So it's not even just French bull dogs but all short nosed dogs that have trouble breathing.

I thought we are a nation of animal lovers. Shame on those who buy these dogs and those who don't research properly. And shame on the government for not making it illegal to breed short nosed dogs.

Did the op ever come back?

Obviously not brain of Britain for getting a dog at Xmas, newly pregnant and not realising that dog ownership means a lot of work and a lot of excreta.
