To hate the dog

gta · 02/01/2018 11:38

We have a 10 week old puppy . I am 8 weeks pregnant with the most horrendous morning day and night sickness and my sense of smell through the roof.
The dog is NOT house trained and seems to be going backwards rather than improving. He is shitting and pissing EVERYWHERE. Pooing in his own bed. Eating his own poo. Vomiting his poo up. Weeing in his own bed. His bed is washed multiple times a day, new beds have been bought.
I can't cope . I am crying everyday with it all it's disgusting. I dread waking up in the morning feeling sick, being sick and then cleaning up all the piss and shit he's left all over the kitchen floor . I can't stand him being near me . I'm at a complete loss st what to do but I'm absolutely miserable and hate living in my house with him. Please help Sad

OP get rid of the dog. It's fine, you've only had it a couple of weeks. If you keep the dog it will only be a massive pain in the arse when baby arrives. Focus on the baby and ditch the mutt, dogs are revolting things anyway

Wolfiefan · 02/01/2018 17:56

@ellephant crate training done properly should absolutely never be hard. Even to start with.
And pads aren't recommended. They just confuse puppies and make them think it's ok to toilet inside.
Who knows the OP didn't post asking for help. They posted to whine about hating the poor pup.

Whoknowswhocares · 02/01/2018 18:08

Well to be fair Wolfe the last 2 words of her post were 'please help'

Valerrie · 02/01/2018 18:12

over zealous beating up of the OP

Did you mean to write under instead of over?

As the OP is deliberately starving a baby animal so it doesn't poo, then moaning that it's resorting to eating its own poo.

That's animal cruelty.

Aturkeyisnotjustforchristmas · 02/01/2018 18:15

I hope you never go blind.

Wolfiefan · 02/01/2018 18:15

But the OP hasn't replied to questions about toilet training or any of the good advice. They've only come back to moan some more about how rotten they feel.

Rebeccaslicker · 02/01/2018 18:16

Aturkey - the previous post suggests that she already has!!

Whoknowswhocares · 02/01/2018 18:17

I must have missed that post! I'm happy to be corrected if you can show me the specific postshe has said it is a deliberate ploy to manage the toilet training. Please quote the post for me and I will adjust my comments accordingly

goodbyeeee · 02/01/2018 18:19

Jesus - she's not "moaning". She's sick and desperate and asking for help. I'm not surprised she's not come back for more people to put the boot into her while she's at her lowest ebb.

gta · 02/01/2018 18:21

Sorry I've not been back, I've not been very well this afternoon.
I deserve all the flack I get it's not fair on him at all but I literally can't cope. I can smell him a mile off and he turns my stomach which is the last thing I need.
Dp will be home soon , hes out from 7 - 7. So will speak to him properly soon I've been crying all day over it so hopefully he sees sense .

Aw thanks, that's nice. You too.

lookingforthecorkscrew · 02/01/2018 18:24

Looks like someone has realised that a designer dog is a little bit more than a cute fashion accessory. Rehome this poor animal, for all your sakes.

Valerrie · 02/01/2018 18:25

He is on James wellbeloved twice a day at 9 and 5 , because he was doing so much mess in the night

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 02/01/2018 18:25

OK, OP, reading all the advice given, what do you think should happen to pup? Best to have that clear in your mind before confronting your DP.

WorraLiberty · 02/01/2018 18:26

If he agrees to re-home, please make sure he does it properly and doesn't just sell to the first person who wants it, in order to make some of his money back.

That's often the 3rd stage of unwanted puppy's life.

PerfectlyDone · 02/01/2018 18:27

gta, kudos for coming back Smile

Please show your partner this thread, if you think it would help your case.

You cannot do nothing - the current situation is horrible and unfair all round.

BuffysFavouriteStake · 02/01/2018 18:29

Good luck OP, its the best thing for you and especially the puppy.

Hope DP is reasonable about it. You could always send him to this thread.

Bigkingdom · 02/01/2018 18:30

I've not read the whole thread so may be repeating things.

I would get the puppy to the vet to check all is well and get pup wormed. If the breeder is that irresponsible that they sold puppies at 6 weeks, then i doubt they cared for the pups properly whilst in their care.

Look into changing the food to a good quality kibble.

Then up the training for the pup. Outside at least every 30 mins but esp after eating, drinking, sleeping and playing.

If you do decide to rehome this pup please make sure it goes to a good responsible forever home and not the first person who comes along.

Wolfiefan · 02/01/2018 18:32

I would contact the breed rescue someone linked to above. Your DP doesn't have a choice. You aren't prepared to do what needs to be done for this pup. You need to rehome. Don't return it to the back yard breeder.

Whoknowswhocares · 02/01/2018 18:32

But Valerie, but she simply said she had moved the time forward by an hour, not that she was withholding food. That the pup should be on 3 or 4 meals a day is indisputable, but my interpretation was ignorance rather than deliberate starvation and that the pup was getting full rations but just split over only 2 meals Seriously you would be amazed at what well meaning but uninformed people do to their dogs without knowing any better.

Anyway, the OP is back now and hopefully committed to a fast rehome via a reputable rescue centre. It sounds like the best possible outcome for all concerned given her circumstances

Hoppinggreen · 02/01/2018 18:33

Ffs yourself greatduck
All she’s doing is whinging about how hard things are for her, she’s not thinking about it from the poor pups point of view .
It’s bad enough that her dick of an OH has caused this ( with her collusion judging by her previous threads) but she doesn’t seem to what to do anything about it, that’s what I’m most annoyed about.
If she admitted it was a fuck up and wanted solid advice and practical help then fine but there have been actual rehoming charities on here and she’s still doing nothing other than complain and feel sorry for herself. I’m reserving my sympathy for the puppy

ShoesHaveSouls · 02/01/2018 18:33

gta - you poor love. This isn't your fault at all - you were bought a surprise puppy, and you've got hyperemesis. I feel very sorry for you.

But I also feel sorry for this poor puppy - it's not his fault either.

Please please please - if you do re-home him - make sure it's through a no-kill rescue centre. DO NOT SELL HIM ON GUMTREE or PRELOVED or FB.

He's 10wks old - this is the time for training - he's got a real chance of a good life (with you, or with another family).

If you share your general area, people can give you contacts on here. I got my puppy from a rescue centre "pups needing homes" in Sussex. I'm sure you'd have no problem selling on French Bulldog - but please please don't sell him on. Make sure he goes to a decent home.

ShoesHaveSouls · 02/01/2018 18:36

*I know how much you probably paid for this puppy - the temptation to sell it to anyone coming up with the cash will be strong. PLEASE DON"T. Please make sure he is re-homed responsibly.

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 02/01/2018 18:38

This thread really upsets me. That poor dog. Please please give it up to a rescue.

This is precisely why we took on an adult rescue and didn't get a puppy.

babigailwabble · 02/01/2018 18:41

why the hell would you get a puppy when you are going to ha e a baby. return the dog, seriously.
