Another trans bully nightmare. Targetting the yellowberry bra brand now

lilymaynard.wordpress.com/2017/12/31/bra-gate-yellowberry-products-now-for-everyone/

When will this BS end?

Boys can wear bras if they choose to. Just as girls are "allowed" to wear trousers instead of skirts and are allowed to have jobs like being a doctor instead of a secretary.

It's not the 1950s, you know.

monkeysox · 01/01/2018 14:11

But boys do not have breasts to put into bras. Yanbu

BulletFox · 01/01/2018 14:12

Errr, what??

astoundedgoat · 01/01/2018 14:14

That's insane. I also note that the attack was aimed at a small brand - and one aimed at young teens - , which is less likely to be equipped to defend itself effectively against staggering bullshit, compared to a big brand like Gossard, Lepel or Panache who would just ignore and treat this nonsense with the contempt it deserves.

The initial employee who answered needs some training, really - not in how to pander to misogynist pervs (who want to see pre-teen boys in bras??) - but in how to choose what to ignore and what to pass on to to their management or a professional PR expert.

Thedriftofstars · 01/01/2018 14:14

Chelle how can you compare bras to trousers? Everyone has legs. Only women --and girls have breasts...

olliegarchy99 · 01/01/2018 14:18

chell
Girls were able to wear trousers in the 1950s - I know because I did
Grils were able to become whatever they wanted to in the 1950s - I know because I grew up then
I think you mean the 1850s Hmm
I think it is shameful that the owner of this bra company has made a grovelling apology. Girls NEED bras because they have breasts.
If a boy/man has breasts - he can of course wear a bra if he likes

UpABitLate · 01/01/2018 14:18

Huh?

So teenage girls - the cunty breasty periody sort of teenage girls - are not allowed to have anything specifically marketed at them any more.

Because we all know that growing breasts, getting periods, is a piece of piss and why would girls in particular need to feel that anyone was speaking directly to them around these issues, offering them things to help, in the case of this company, bras for developing girls that aren't v sexualised.

We can't have that now can we.

glenthebattleostrich · 01/01/2018 14:19

I feel an email to the owner coming on in support of the original response.

etap · 01/01/2018 14:19

No. Every company needs to make all of their products inclusive for every conceivable variation in taste/race/gender/feeling/religion and if they don't then they're awful, and we should dump them/move house/etc.

UpABitLate · 01/01/2018 14:23

Have they tackled sex education yet?

I have seen posts about how sex education in schools need to be "gender neutral" ie removing association between sexes and the different reproductive systems.

Note that it's always women and girls they go after, never men and boys, because most of this is actually about forcing women and girls to submit to the wishes of men and boys, bullying them, removing their language and ability to discuss their lives and the things that happen to them. Men would not stand for this and anyway they are not interested in challenging men.

Has anyone seen anything eg Gillette the best a man can get, get challenged? Even though, in fact, many women do use men's razors and always have?

BuzzKillington · 01/01/2018 14:26

What bollocks.

Boys in bras. Fucking hell.

CremeFresh · 01/01/2018 14:29

They should make sure men can use tampons too if this is their take on things, and get the idiots who peddle this shit to demonstrate how to use them.

sinceyouask · 01/01/2018 14:30

It's an item of clothing, that's all. No group owns any item of clothing. Confused

Honestly, it's no wonder any valid concerns about trans issues you lot have get dismissed if you can froth over such a non issue as this. You look utterly ridiculous here.

Lovesagin · 01/01/2018 14:31

Yanbu, boys can wear girls bras if they really wanted to, so now the TRA are going after young girls. I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a touch of fetishism going on here Angry

FoggieFishieCarpeDiem · 01/01/2018 14:35

I don’t understand the problem.

Are they saying that mtf individuals would still need bras at this point and that bras are therefore worn by growing boys?

Idk. I’m not opposed to the diagnosis of gender dysphoria or trans people just wanting to live their lives in a way that makes them happy and mentally healthy. I also understand that a certain amount of politics and social campaigning has been needed for this.

But things like this are just so weird. The majority isn’t trans.
and whilst we can make arguments about gendering products... do we really want to start with underwear? Where the differing needs of the sexes are so very obvious?

greendale17 · 01/01/2018 14:35

You look utterly ridiculous here.

Boys in bras look utterly ridiculous

TheFairyCaravan · 01/01/2018 14:35

This is absolute madness.

We’re not going to be able to have adverts for sanitary products aimed at women soon.

PickAChew · 01/01/2018 14:36

It's about as logical as a girl wearing a jock strap.

FoggieFishieCarpeDiem · 01/01/2018 14:37

But yes, boys are allowed to wear bras. There’s nothing wrong with it.

Just like girls are allowed to wear boxer shorts.

UpABitLate · 01/01/2018 14:37

sinceyouask

No one is stopping boys wearing bras Confused

Boys and men have always worn bras if they fancied it, often ones belonging to the women in their household, stretching them beyond hope.

The POINT here is that they have said that this brand, which was created to help developing teen girls, is NO LONGER ALLOWED to mention teen girls in any of their literature.

When you say " No group owns any item of clothing" what you MEAN is, girls and women should no longer be mentioned, marketed to, considered as an entity distinct from men and boys in any way.

And that is fine, it is the new standard.

Tell me, do you feel the same way about Gillette razors "the best a man can get" and prostate cancer charities which also specifically refer to men?

UpABitLate · 01/01/2018 14:38

"We’re not going to be able to have adverts for sanitary products aimed at women soon."

This has already happened, a charity raising awareness (and money) of the struggles faced by girls around menstruation around the world was lambasted and told to remove the references to "girls".

Charolais · 01/01/2018 14:38

Chell In the 1950’s we wore trousers and girls did do what they liked - in fact more than now. I roamed the woods and countryside alone starting at age 6. And I was allowed to roam around town alone when I was about 8 or 9. I had half a crown to spend and would save a sixpence for a saucer of cockles in the market b before walking home along the river. I was free to do what I liked pretty much and it was lovely. In our GP local practice, in the late 50’s, we had three female doctors and I still remember their names. One was elderly and one day she came into to the waiting room and two young men jumped up and offered her their seats. We had the best of both worlds.

UpABitLate · 01/01/2018 14:40

The real point here is that anything related to women's biology or bodies is verboten and just as we are being able to speak more openly about it, we need to shut up again. Previously we were told to be silent because these things were rude / disgusting, now it's for "equalities" reasons. The end result is the same.

fannyfelcher · 01/01/2018 14:40

This is fucking ridiculous. Yes, lets jump on the trans train to be PC and make everything suitable for universal usage. I am sure my husband would find cracking use for tampons suited to everybody. hell he could even take birth control pills because today, he may feel like a woman. What next? getting " real" pregnancy tests to men can get the excitement of finding out they are pregnant? "authentic" birthing experiences in labour wards like a scene fresh out of the Hand Maids tale? It is blood ridiculous.

All these people kicking off about it being suited to everybody, It is. If you were born a male feel you identify as female then wear a bra. By all means! But do not expect women to put up with their needs being meddled with to suit people that are physiologicaly different to them. That way lies madness.

MissMogwai · 01/01/2018 14:42

This is all getting fucking ridiculous now.
