Not impressed!!

I'd be hard pressed to say which event I'd be less bothered about.

It depends on whether Arsenal plays or not. (are they still in the competition, even, though? Hmm)

PinkJeggings · 15/12/2017 15:39

"I don’t know about you OP, but when I booked my wedding, I booked it for myself and my DH, I didn’t ask anyone else what date worked for them."

Ah, we did take other people into account Xmas Smile

JacquesHammer · 15/12/2017 15:39

Certainly. As a descriptive adjective of previous occupation. As MM described herself in her previous occupations on her own CV

So why choose that particular description if not to imply a negative?

grannytomine · 15/12/2017 15:40

Lweji I'm sorry but I have no clue.

JacquesHammer · 15/12/2017 15:41

Ah, we did take other people into account

And you're suggesting Harry takes into account 90,000 football fans and the couple of hundred of people associated with each team...?

BenLui · 15/12/2017 15:42

Pink you’ve made a number of assumptions in drumming up your outrage:

You’re assuming the William was given a choice about the date.

“power” what power does William have as third in line to the throne?

You’re assuming that he shrugged his shoulders and said “who cares about the football”. For all you know it was a very hard decision and he feels bad about it.

Something would probably always have had to be bumped, would you prefer it was a charity or diplomatic event?

It’s not like William is some playboy who runs around drinking and gambling. He has a number of commitments to honour.

He seems pretty committed to supporting sport in the U.K. perhaps ge’s Just being a good brother and sucking up his disappointment about the cup final at the request of his Grandmother and Father.

I’m a Republican and even I think this isn’t unreasonable.

happypoobum · 15/12/2017 15:45

Is this thread not a joke then?

Bloody hell OP I can't believe you are serious. PW probably has duties most days of the year, I am sure the FA cup will survive with a substitute cuphanderover.

The whole world is going utterly mad

PricillaQueenOfTheDesert · 15/12/2017 15:51

Pinkjeggings and are you any more married than me? No, of course not. Now get a bloody grip you loon.

ElephantsandTigers · 15/12/2017 15:52

Oh bless.

There will be plenty of time to present the trophy should he wish to do so as the wedding service will be over then. There is clearly a reason they have chosen that date. I'm sure it will be fine. He's not the only person capable of handing over a trophy. They have to have a contingency plan.

VivaLeBeaver · 15/12/2017 15:52

He probably has commitments all the time, better to miss a footy match than a charity commitment.

PinkJeggings · 15/12/2017 15:53

"You’re assuming the William was given a choice about the date."

No, I'm saying that May 19th should never have been on the table in the first place!

OP posts:
PigletWasPoohsFriend · 15/12/2017 15:54

YABU I'm sure the overly paid sportsmen will cope Hmm

neveradullmoment99 · 15/12/2017 15:54

who gives a stuff!

Doingthebattybat · 15/12/2017 15:55

I’m not a royal fan or a football fan but YANBU imo. Handing out the nice shiny trophy at the FA is one of his ‘jobs’. The FA is hugely important to a lot of people and if he is supposed to do that then another date should have been chosen for the wedding. If possible that is.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 15/12/2017 15:55

No, I'm saying that May 19th should never have been on the table in the first place!

Because of a football match? Don't be stupid.

The players won't care who gives them the trophy for starters.

BenLui · 15/12/2017 15:56

Pink but your criticism is focussed on William. He may not have put the date on the table. He may even have argued strenuously against it.

Something needed to be bumped, what would you have preferred?

Smokeahontas · 15/12/2017 15:56

Are you on drugs?

JacquesHammer · 15/12/2017 15:56

He's been President of the FA for 11 years and missed two other occasions at least. The stadium didn't collapse, the match still played, the cup was handed over.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 15/12/2017 16:03

It's so overwhelmingly disappointing. Every year I sit through 90 minutes of boring football just for a glance at Wills pate shining in the springtime sun. Apparently 99.96% of viewers watch the FA cup for the same reason and have no intention of watching now. They might as well not hold the damn thing because it's ruined now for all who watch.

Events attended by the offspring of St Diana of Kensington have a semi religious significance for the entire nation which should be duly acknowledged. The only possible alternative I can think of is that after the match we build a pyre and ritually sacrifice Escada jackets and Gucci loafers to honour her holiness instead?

RustyBear · 15/12/2017 16:12

“It depends on whether Arsenal plays or not. (are they still in the competition, even, though? hmm)”

They aren’t actually in it yet, like all Premiership and Championship clubs (the top two divisions) they don’t join in until the Third round (which is actually the 9th round), which is on the weekend of 5th-7th January, when they play Nottingham Forest.

GinDoll · 15/12/2017 16:18

I honestly doubt the footballers will care whilst Harry would probably be upset if William missed his wedding. I know I would if it was my brother missing my wedding... also if I'd just won the FA Cup I really wouldn't care who presented it as log as I got my mitts on it quick 😆

numbereightyone · 15/12/2017 16:18

It's a weird choice to have it on FA Cup Final Day.

doubleshotespresso · 15/12/2017 16:18

Does anybody else genuinely wonder to themselves how anybody creating threads such as this find the time?

I know nobody who would give either a shiny shit or second thought!

OP you are bonkers to care.

Lweji · 15/12/2017 16:19

Ah, we did take other people into account

In case they had trophies to hand out?

CocaColaTruck · 15/12/2017 16:19

It's only a game, FFS. Brother's wedding vs watching some overpaid people kick a ball about. No contest.
