Help needed please!
Was very close to friend for years. She's rubbish with money but was good at spending mine! We don't see each other so much, but still chat and I went to her birthday bash a few weeks ago.

It took me a while, but the penny finally dropped and I no longer 'lend' her money. (Think 'loan' for £1000 seven years ago and have only had £200 ish back).

There is a band that we have always wanted to see - I know I sound about 10!), so we agreed that I would get the tickets on my card and she would reimburse me after Glastonbury - very expensive!

Here's the thing - tomorrow is the day we go and I think (know?) that she won't have the money.

WIBU to just not go with her? Am meant to be picking her up at 12 pm.

Yay

Worriedobsessive · 05/11/2017 17:44

Hurray

Starlight2345 · 05/11/2017 17:44

Well done op . Did you enjoy the concert . My only add on is never ever book anything for her without the cash in your hand

Ellie56 · 05/11/2017 17:46

Excellent stuff OP. Well done for standing up for yourself.
Now ask when she intends paying the £800 back. Tell her you'd be quite happy to accept her setting up a monthly direct debit...

LoniceraJaponica · 05/11/2017 17:47

Result!

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/11/2017 17:48

Well done. What a leech her poor dd. I’m glad you managed to have a good time with her.

Now time to recoup your money now you’re on a roll!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 05/11/2017 17:49

Good for you OP.

Now get her to return the £800. 😊

WitchDancer · 05/11/2017 17:50

I am pleased it worked out for you, and without it getting nasty. Now all you need to do is channel your inner Mumsnet and set up a repayment plan for the £800 she owes you. 😁

Guardsman18 · 05/11/2017 17:50

Jay Kay was fab. What a showman he is. Friend bought the wine in the pub before we went in (nice).

We met up with some people we know and somehow I got lost. I ended up getting a taxi 'home' alone. At 3 am I had a phone call to say she was in the middle of nowhere and could she have the address of hotel and did i have taxi money as cash point wasn't working. (That old chestnut!) Yes - she owes me £20. Difference is she knows it and I will ask for it.

We had a great laugh tbh and again - thank you for all the supportive messages. it really helped me. (I'm glad I don't have some of you angry, strange people for friends in rl!)

PurplePillowCase · 05/11/2017 17:52

now to get the 820£ off her.
I would have told her to walk

alphajuliet123 · 05/11/2017 17:53

Well one OP, have the two of you enjoy your time together? And did Jay Kay notice your hair?!

Groovee · 05/11/2017 17:54

Glad it all worked out x

viques · 05/11/2017 17:54

and did I have taxi money

you have to admire her!!!!!!!

Aeroflotgirl · 05/11/2017 17:55

Good on you for being assertive, did you help her with the the taxi money. Next time don't lend her any money or buy any tickets without money first.

streetlife70s · 05/11/2017 18:00

Well done you are brilliant! Don’t change. Just be more assertive. Delighted for you x

Lemonicelolly1 · 05/11/2017 18:04

Fab Smile well done op!

ChocolateWombat · 05/11/2017 18:06

Thanks for coming back. It's closure for all those people who've been rooting for you.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/11/2017 18:12

So that was two cashpoints she found herself unable to use ... I forecast the first one upthread but confess I didn't see the second one coming!!

Well done for insisting she contact someone for the initial money though; I really thought you'd caved but you can be very proud of yourself Flowers

expatinscotland · 05/11/2017 18:12

Good for you! Get your 820 quid back!

ElephantsandTigers · 05/11/2017 18:14

Nationwide was having problems with cashpoints and on line stuff so it may have been genuine.
