To expect payment for ticket .............

Help needed please!
Was very close to friend for years. She's rubbish with money but was good at spending mine! We don't see each other so much, but still chat and I went to her birthday bash a few weeks ago.

It took me a while, but the penny finally dropped and I no longer 'lend' her money. (Think 'loan' for £1000 seven years ago and have only had £200 ish back).

There is a band that we have always wanted to see - I know I sound about 10!), so we agreed that I would get the tickets on my card and she would reimburse me after Glastonbury - very expensive!

Here's the thing - tomorrow is the day we go and I think (know?) that she won't have the money.

WIBU to just not go with her? Am meant to be picking her up at 12 pm.

Do you think OP is watching all of these posts (hundreds) since lunchtime yesterday and choosing not to reply?

Lots of people seem very invested in this thread. I think it's understandable because lots of us empathised with the situation and were advising her and rooting for her to be assertive in the scenario. There was also the element of having to wait and wait and wait because the Op couldn't speak to friend who was at a wedding, and then the various delays which kept everyone hanging on further, advising and wanting to know the outcome - most to feel pleased that OP had asserted herself, some perhaps to find she hadn't.....but like watching the next episode of a soap opera.

So I think it's reasonable for people to expect OP to come back - she was on the thread very regularly until mid day yesterday, when queries about the situation started to arise and until the journey would have started. As lots of people have said, it's reasonable to go on your day out and not post, but it will have all been over now for a while. It is odd for someone who could post every few minutes to suddenly not post for 24 hours.

We have to all draw our own conclusions about why this has happened. Some of these conclusions can't be voiced on this thread without being pulled, and lots of others have been voiced.

Personally I will check this thread once more this evening and that will then be it. It would be nice to get an update which finishes the story, regardless of what it is, but quite often these threads end up like this and I'm sure we all have lots more to get on with than fretting about where the OP is.

Great post, Chocolatewombat

streetlife70s · 05/11/2017 16:12

It’s not fretting as such, I just kind of feel I’ve read a great novel and the last two pages have been ripped out. Bit...disappointed Sad

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 05/11/2017 16:23

This is the thread equivalent of The Italian Job.

FizzyGreenWater · 05/11/2017 16:45

She was quite snarky in the last post she made- getting a bit pissed off with folk having a go about her moving goalposts re leaving. Before that she was really meek! SO... I think it was the haircut! Something happened at the hairdressers... maybe the sheer power of KNOWING those highlights had worked, whatever. She found her sense of self and her big girl hair and BLAM she blew off the thread, went straight to friend's house and ripped her a new one and then went straight to the gig, stormed the stage and snogged JayKay. Then battered him to death with his hat and is now incarcerated.

thats what I think.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/11/2017 16:52

I reckon she folded

Yep Sad

Well, hello. I'm home. It has taken me nearly an hour to read all the posts!

Just going to the loo and will tell you all about it.

I am a woman btw and a much stronger one having read some of the replies I received on Friday and Saturday morning. So thank you those of you who helped me being assertive.

Am picturing hundreds of MNers, perched on the edge of their seats, abandoning dinner, ignoring husbands, waiting with baited breath for the update
not that I am doing any of the above of course Grin

I have come to the conclusion though that I'm a littlebit addicted to MN..,

Haggisfish · 05/11/2017 17:28

Guardsman18 · 05/11/2017 17:31

You are funny! It's good to be welcomed. It's strange when people you don't know get so cross with you. Been a bit weird to read.

I hope it worked out for you and you had a great night.

Booboobooboo84 · 05/11/2017 17:39

Sooooo two messages and you’ve still not actually updated us? What happened op?

laurzj82 · 05/11/2017 17:40

What happened??

Guardsman18 · 05/11/2017 17:40

The people who were rooting for me will be so pleased - I am of myself and thanks to all of you who replied with constructive advice.

It really did help. I had a txt to say she was ready at 1pm - I wasn't!! - picked her up, went to get petrol and her card didn't work.

Now, had I not posted on Friday, I may have said - oh let's just go. However - thanks to you lovely people (not the arsey ones!), I was very laid back and suggested she contact her bank, use another card, contact daughter.

Which she did. Money was transferred within 10 mins, ticket, petrol and hotel money was put in my hand.

Yes I did drive (she's lost her glasses).

KeepServingTheDrinks · 05/11/2017 17:42

oh well done!!!!

Hope the concert was fab.

chickenowner · 05/11/2017 17:42
