To expect payment for ticket .............

Help needed please!
Was very close to friend for years. She's rubbish with money but was good at spending mine! We don't see each other so much, but still chat and I went to her birthday bash a few weeks ago.

It took me a while, but the penny finally dropped and I no longer 'lend' her money. (Think 'loan' for £1000 seven years ago and have only had £200 ish back).

There is a band that we have always wanted to see - I know I sound about 10!), so we agreed that I would get the tickets on my card and she would reimburse me after Glastonbury - very expensive!

Here's the thing - tomorrow is the day we go and I think (know?) that she won't have the money.

WIBU to just not go with her? Am meant to be picking her up at 12 pm.

OP posts:
Mummyoflittledragon · 04/11/2017 13:09

I’m confused, have you told her you’re going later?

diddl · 04/11/2017 13:12

So if she has the 54GBP, you'll be driving?

If not, you'll nip to the Station & take the Train?

SandyDenny · 04/11/2017 13:12

Quaismaisbon - I understand that, I was giving a possible explanation to the troll hunters who obviously don't know just about the only rule on MN.

I have no idea if the OP is genuine, but we won't find out if the thread is pulled because of troll hunters, I'd like to know how this ends Smile

Happy new haircut!

If I was in your shoes I would be texting to ask if she's got the money yet.

Ninabean17 · 04/11/2017 13:18

Hope you have a great time! Keep us updated op! :)

Lukeandlorelai4Ever · 04/11/2017 13:20

Has cf texted you wondering where you are?

keepcalmandfuckon · 04/11/2017 13:22

None of this makes sense. And why can’t people text at weddings? I do Confused

IncyWincyGrownUp · 04/11/2017 13:24

I’d have totally caught the earlier train and holednupnin a coffee shop somewhere with a decent book. Friend knew your deadline was 12 so nothing lost.

I used to get J K (jay Kay) confused with J K Rowling 🙄

Maudlinmaud · 04/11/2017 13:26

I couldn't deal with the uncertainty. Not an enjoyable way to start off any occasion.
How do you feel op?

Appuskidu · 04/11/2017 13:29

I'm not a troll hunter, I just find the train/driving thing odd.

I'm sure that yes, CF friend would much prefer a totally free door to door service, but as the OP admits she 'hates' driving and wanted to go via public transport, I was interested to see how the CF persuaded her to do something she actively hates doing.

0hCrepe · 04/11/2017 13:30

I’ve had friends like this. They basically spend money as soon as they get it and so never have any. They avoid you rather than paying back or admitting they can’t/ trying to arrange a payment plan if you ask. One friend I lent money to promised me she would pay me back and I said if you can’t, please don’t avoid me we’ll sort something. Guess what...

Others I just had to write off. Funnily enough they are still skint 20 years later. Nothing changes.

Simply put, you won’t see her because she hasn’t got the money.

Now I never lend money or if i do, even £5 for a takeaway I ask for it back. I do give money though.

birdiebirdiewoofwoof · 04/11/2017 13:34

Well, OP is clearly a nice, accommodating person, a bit too much so for her own good in fact. I can perfectly imagine CF persuading her to drive, just as CF persuaded her to part with a thousand quid and remain friends with most of the loan still unpaid!

ChocolateWombat · 04/11/2017 13:36

I'm not a troll hunter either. If you look back you'll see I've engaged a lot with this thread and offered advice to the OP which she has often commented on as helpful. However, certain things don't add up and the timescales for OP meeting with or speaking with friend just keep being moved.

Of course OP is free to go to the concert whenever she likes, to have her haircut and to drive or go by train and friend is free to go to a wedding and to not have phone on or to have her phone but be mysteriously unable to communicate for many hours. These things have all meant that friend or Op are unable to communicate with each other or with the thread or that what is happening has changed from the original timeframes/understanding us readers had.

Grilledaubergines · 04/11/2017 13:36

Was reading with interest and then it all got a bit much for me.

Polkadot1974 · 04/11/2017 13:43

I’m really hoping OP goes alone. That first step towards freedom from CF

GracielaSabrocita · 04/11/2017 13:43

Someone has owed me 800 pounds for 7 years - AIBU in wanting them to reimburse me for a ticket I just bought for them?

WTF?

SandyDenny · 04/11/2017 13:45

Well I just went back to check your post chocolatewombat and it's been deleted so MNHQ obviously think you were troll hunting and iirc you pretty clearly said you didn't believe the OP

TotallyWingingIt · 04/11/2017 13:48

OP please put us out of our misery. Is she going...is she not? If you gave her a 12pm deadline and she still hasn’t got back to you she won’t know you’ve changed it to 2/2.30pm and will presume you’ve gone won’t she? Just go, get the train and enjoy yourself Smile
Then I’d delete and block her from everything and and take it as a very expensive lesson learnt!

Happyemoji · 04/11/2017 13:48

Sandy she is allowed to have her opinion. I'm not sure what I think but I have known weak women who behave like that.

Happyemoji · 04/11/2017 13:51

Totally how is she meant to block her they are practically neighbours. They both live with in seconds from the train station and each other.

TotallyWingingIt · 04/11/2017 13:54

Happy, sorry, my mistake I didn’t see that. I’d just go with ignoring her. She seems to have no problem doing it to the OP

SandyDenny · 04/11/2017 13:54

Of course she is happyemoji, that's not my point, troll hunting's not allowed and might get the thread closed down, it's a rainy Sat afternoon here and I want to know how this ends.

Call me sad but I'm enjoying the thread

Booboobooboo84 · 04/11/2017 13:56

Are you driving or on the train OP. This is making my day in bed with flu so much better
