To expect payment for ticket .............

Help needed please!
Was very close to friend for years. She's rubbish with money but was good at spending mine! We don't see each other so much, but still chat and I went to her birthday bash a few weeks ago.

It took me a while, but the penny finally dropped and I no longer 'lend' her money. (Think 'loan' for £1000 seven years ago and have only had £200 ish back).

There is a band that we have always wanted to see - I know I sound about 10!), so we agreed that I would get the tickets on my card and she would reimburse me after Glastonbury - very expensive!

Here's the thing - tomorrow is the day we go and I think (know?) that she won't have the money.

WIBU to just not go with her? Am meant to be picking her up at 12 pm.

SoulStew · 04/11/2017 14:05

This other woman has been given SO much leeway. Don’t feel bad about cutting her off this time op. X

DamsonGin · 04/11/2017 14:08

Hope you're on your way soon!

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/11/2017 14:08

Still no news??

2017SoFarSoGood · 04/11/2017 14:14

Come on OP. I woke up really early and hah hope that it was all resolved over my morning coffee.

Been in your shoes and more hours hard this is, but I have found ii is like reaching the top of the bowl. There is just too much Cheeky Fuckery and you suddenly cannot take one more iota. Done. Bssta.

Hope that is where you really are if that's what turns out to be the case.

iMatter · 04/11/2017 14:20

I hope you’re sitting on the train, alone, reading a good book!

nNina22 · 04/11/2017 14:31

I hope the reason for the op’s silence isn’t because she caved in.

Appuskidu · 04/11/2017 14:35

I expect OP is currently driving to Birmingham as if she was on the train, she would be able to reply!

Whether CF pays or doesn't pay, I wouldn't want to spend any time with her at all-I think it would ruin my day!

Ellie56 · 04/11/2017 14:38

There's no way I'd be driving to Birmingham. It's bad enough going on the train!

Starlight2345 · 04/11/2017 14:41

I suspect also you are driving..I hope you are sat on a train with no wifi.

raisinsarenottheonlyfruit · 04/11/2017 14:43

Have a fantastic time guardsman, good on you for going regardless.

nNina22 · 04/11/2017 14:44

Maybe the op will update in an hour or so when she gets to Birmingham. I hope so. I’m overinvested in this thread 😁

ChocolateWombat · 04/11/2017 14:44

Well we might find out or we might not.
Don't you often find that the most interesting ones never quite resolve - hopefully this won't be the case this time.
I think that the reason people often don't come back is because the action suggested by the majority wasn't actually taken. It's pretty hard to then come back and tell everyone. For example, if OP is now driving to Birmingham and friend has only paid some of the money or even none, it's hard to come back here and say that is the case. However, in this instance I wouldn't be surprised if this happened and given the circumstances that OP has left herself in if having to receive the money in person, on the day, I don't think it would be surprising if it happened at all...very understandable, if slightly disappointing.

The other reason people often don't come back, nor why their stories start to look like there are holes in them, is because many posters only tell part of the story or alter parts of the truth to display themselves in a certain light - no-one wants people to heavily criticise them or their actions, and in an anonymous forum it's very easy to only reveal certain details or to adjust parts of the story, even as you go along. I think there is a lot of that which goes on, more than totally made up stories.

Anyway, let's hope OP has a pocket of cash to cover everything friend will need to pay today and is driving up the motorway feeling pleased with herself and friend has learned that she can't mess her around anymore. Let's also hope we hear back at some point.

MoNigheanDonn · 04/11/2017 14:44

Just placemarking!

chicaguapa · 04/11/2017 14:48

but as the OP admits she 'hates' driving and wanted to go via public transport, I was interested to see how the CF persuaded her to do something she actively hates doing.

OP answered that. She said she would have ended up paying for the tickets via public transport so decided to drive as she didn't have to risk paying for that upfront and not getting the money back from CFF.

Alphvet · 04/11/2017 14:49

Same

runthemotherfuckingjewels · 04/11/2017 14:50

Come on OP, tell us what’s happened even if it’s not quite how you wanted the situation to go. These kind of CFs are masters at manipulation.

Appuskidu · 04/11/2017 14:55

OP answered that. She said she would have ended up paying for the tickets via public transport so decided to drive as she didn't have to risk paying for that upfront and not getting the money back from CFF.

Hmmm, ok. But if that was me and I suspected i would have to pay for her train ticket, I'd have suggested meeting at the (30 second away) train station and then just buying my own ticket!

I dislike driving into big cities-I totally get how she feels about that, which is why I wouldn't have agreed to it and would have just bought my own train ticket on the day.

That wouldn't have necessitated any upfront costs.
