to find it sad that women talk about their DH’a achievements like they are their own

On all these “how much do you earn” threads I find it sad to see so many women who gave up careers of a lot of money to be a SAHM and talk proudly about their DH’s income as if it’s their achievement. I wonder why it’s always the woman who cares for the children and how so many woman can decide to give up work leaving them in such a vulnerable position if the husband leaves them.

Curiositykilledthecat113 what a condescending bitch you are

That is not ok, you cannot call people names like that. You can put up an argument and disagree with her view, but you can’t simply attack her. Hmm

Curiositykilledthecat113 · 21/10/2017 23:07

ALittleMoreEducation Exactly, also as I've pointed out many times the way we speak at work and on forums are completely different. Barristers are normal people who make errors with words and use slang, shocking isn't it. (Not aimed at you, Alittle)

StealthPolarBear · 21/10/2017 23:08

Please can someone ask. This is the most interesting thing about me (and the link is tenuous :o)

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 21/10/2017 23:08

Do not tell whoop that stealth

You know what she is like with google!!

arethereanyleftatall · 21/10/2017 23:09

Sure it's human nature to be curious bluntness, but the moment you start slagging off/pretending not to understand someone else's choices, is the moment to address if you're truly happy with yours.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 21/10/2017 23:09

Please stealth

Tell me all about it

StealthPolarBear · 21/10/2017 23:09

Her ex played in the band at my wedding

CredulousThickos · 21/10/2017 23:09

Stealth, how do you know her? Do you know him? Can you introduce me?

thedcbrokemybank · 21/10/2017 23:09

My job is inextricably linked to my identity,it’s a vehicle for my personality & intellectual abilities
There is an implication that as a SAHP you can't have this vehicle. I don't just get my self worth from housework you know!

whoopwhoop21 · 21/10/2017 23:09

stealth well I expect I'd be very interested in hearing about her. Are you a celeb?

StealthPolarBear · 21/10/2017 23:10

Smiling smugly.
She's like my beastie yknow
she'd have no clue who I was, would probably recognise Dhs name just

whoopwhoop21 · 21/10/2017 23:10

rufus your goading me now!

ALittleMoreEducation · 21/10/2017 23:11

thedcbrokemybank

I read the first two pages of this thread in disgust. I haven't bothered with the rest.

Oh go on! It's the thread that keeps on giving. It really would be a fine use of the small hours for you to read the whole thing.

You've missed out on everything from "my husband's a dr so I say I'm a doctor" comedy to the killing fields of Sierra Leone to random questions about postmen to cocktails to accusations of the OP lying about being a barrister.

It has been a frightening but highly entertaining waste of my valuable time.

StealthPolarBear · 21/10/2017 23:11

Oh yes whoop I'm gwyneth paltroe. I'm on an off day and have been knocking back the wine and creme eggs

StealthPolarBear · 21/10/2017 23:11

And have you met him?

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 21/10/2017 23:12

What me!! Noooooo

I am trying to be helpful

You posting loads of tom hardy pictures will completely derail the thread Grin

CreamCol0uredP0nies · 21/10/2017 23:12

I work too Stealth - I just don't get paid for it at the moment.
My self worth is not based on what I used to do, what I do now or what I will do in the future - nor is my husbands and yet so many woman who go out to work seem to base a huge part of their identity on being able to say - I'm a corporate lawyer, maths teacher, administrator or whatever it might be.
It doesn't make them more or less interesting as people to me or better or worse parents to me and yet there seems to be lot more judgement heaped on SAHM as illustrated by the delightful OP

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 21/10/2017 23:12

It’s one of 1st things folk ask each other, what do you do. They mean work
My career is inextricably linked to whom I am,its a vocational career.

whoopwhoop21 · 21/10/2017 23:12
