17 year old girl walking home sexually assaulted by multiple, unconnected men

An absolutely horrendous case in which a 17 year old girl trying to get home on a night out was subject to multiple serious sexual assaults it seems by men completely unconnected to one another. What does this say about society, that different men in a small geographical location within the space of an hour all had such contempt for women and girls they chose to commit these abhorrent attacks on her? It's hideous. I don't usually start threads in this section of the board but I feel so enraged by these attacks and feel more should be aware of this misogyny.

It's like the peadophile situation - was it always this bad or just do we just know more

I do think there is something in the demographic of that neighbourhood . These are angry , feral ,hate filled men . And I also know that the football hooligans and their ilk are Caucasian . But Tower hamlets is full of poverty and anger right now.

I think there is a legitimate discussion to be had about the implications of multiculturalism for women's rights. And I think people shouldn't be afraid to have that conversation - but it's a separate one.

I really can see why people want to believe it's a 'tiny minority of men', because the truth is terrifying to contemplate - especially if you have a daughter. But it isn't a tiny minority of men. It's endemic. It's happening in every town and city, every single night. And to dismiss this awful event as being down to race or culture is really just another way of minimising. 'It's a tiny minority of men, it won't happen to me/my daughter.' 'It's a problem in that community. The naice white men in my naice area wouldn't do that.'

I was raped aged 17 by a white man in Leamington Spa. A friend was raped as a teenager in Bury St Edmunds. It isn't confined to poor people and immigrants. It's completely pervasive.

If any other social group (for instance Muslims) committed as many violent acts against another group as men do against women, we'd be calling it terrorism.

everyone is breeding boys that with only a few drinks in them (or none at all even) will slap a girls arse in a bar. Or far worse. 'Nice' 'normal' guys. Trained to assault and think nothing of it.

Hopefully with all the publicity, these animals will be caught, brought to trail, shamed and imprisoned for a very long time.

Iam, the bit I said before that was very important. About aggression in 5yr old boys towards girls at school. Just children but I feel like it does start that early. I meant everyone as in society. We don't even know we're doing it half the time. You took it very personally but maybe my point is worth stopping and thinking about, even if you feel it doesn't apply to your boys. Not least because you are not the only influence on your sons upbringing unfortunately.

I am fed up of this being swept under the carpet. This is so many men. Not all men. Too many women.

Didn't Sweden cancel a music festival because of assaults? They should have run it and made it women attendees and staff only.
