Crushed velvet sofas/beds/curtains.

Also wooden letters in the kitchen/bathroom that's say 'Cook'/'Bath' etc telling you what each room is for.

While I'm at it- wall 'art' (stickers) with cheesy phrases.

What does it have to do with anyone?
Just don’t have it in your house if you don’t like it! Hmm

dontcallmelen · 03/10/2017 16:07

@Ishould sofa.com are excellent great customer service, we have two sofas from them & are holding up very well really comfortable.

IDismyname · 03/10/2017 18:28

@JemimaLovesHamble - Yes, you should be just fine with a nice dark green, from what I can make out...

verynaiceham · 03/10/2017 19:03

@Miracle33 I wouldn’t post pictures of my house as it would be very identifying.

I haven’t judged anyone at all. As I’ve said before I’m just pointing out I don’t like what seems to be the ‘in thing’ at the moment. I have plenty of friend who have homes decorated with the things I’ve said I don’t like but I wouldn’t say it to them. Why would I? Their house- their choice.

I’ve not said once that I’m a style expert and I don’t like my own decor at all so I’d be surprised if any of you lot would!

It would be interesting to read your style choices, though. Photos are not necessary!
After all, you did start the thread.

Chimchar · 03/10/2017 20:47

I love the grey look. I have many of the things mentioned on this thread. Blush
Lots of friends come to my house though and comment how cool it is, and take pictures to show their partners how they want their house.

Now I’m wondering if they take pictures to put on threads like this! WinkGrin

Chimchar · 03/10/2017 20:49

Meant to ask the interior design study poster....what colour is the next big trend do you think? Smile

Bornfreebutinbiscuits · 03/10/2017 21:18

pagwatch lucky dc for dc an amazing bathroom.
I must say I think the idea of embracing a dark lit room is really interesting Smile. I found in laws did this, had cosy darkish dining room but the lightened it up and it lacks atmosphere and warmth.
Yes lucky in large houses where one can embrace many different types of decor style and not need as much flow as smaller space.

endehors · 04/10/2017 00:27

Chimchar - My friend who dabbles in interior design says next 'in' colours likely to be pink (pale or salmon), maroon or brown. I haven't a bloody clue, personally!

Insomnibrat · 04/10/2017 01:50

"My friend who dabbles in interior design says next 'in' colours likely to be pink (pale or salmon), maroon or brown"

Christ I hope not! It sounds like a recipe from a nursing home!

endehors · 04/10/2017 01:54

Doesn't it!

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 04/10/2017 01:58

I haven't rtft (sorry Blush) but has anyone mentioned glittery wallpaper?? There is a shop in my town that seems to just sell glittery wallpaper and big sheets of glittery/ sequined stuff, oh, and glittery pillows! I keep looking to see if they have gone out of business yet, but nope! So it must be a "thing". Spangly walls.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 04/10/2017 06:32

What I hate is the fact that some people are slaves to the latest trends. Just decorate your house how you want it and bugger whether it's on trend or not Grin

Chimchar · 04/10/2017 06:46

Ooh. Brown? Like throwback to the 70s?! 💩😂. My folks had loads of brown and orange prints in their first home together about 50 years ago! Thanks for the prediction though!

We’re doing a loft conversion at the moment and the whole upstairs needs redecorating. I do keep getting drawn to grey or white.

Whilst I am not a slave to trends at all, I really don’t want to decorate everything and have it looking horribly dated by next year...I’m not planning on decorating for a long time after we’ve done it this time around!! Can’t see me going for pink or brown though.

I wish MN had a like button MyGastIsFlabbered - well said!

Then you are a slave to trends. Decorate in a way that you love.

Chimchar · 04/10/2017 09:16

And I will!
I always have done.
But I’m scarred by a old friend who painted the entire place in lilac and purple just as it was in all the shops.
It’s stayed with me.
I want my house to look nice though obviously!

ToddlersAndCoffee · 04/10/2017 09:21

Well I love my grey sofa... and I even have a grey feature wall... Grin

Toddlers I love your room too - has your cat just had surgery?

metalmum15 · 04/10/2017 10:32

Beautiful room, and just noticed the cat cone of shame, poor moggy!

greentea4me · 04/10/2017 11:28

I like the nest of tables, mirror and pink accents Toddlers. But the best part is the cat obviously. Can I ask if there's a reason the curtain pole is so much higher than the window?

PickAChew · 04/10/2017 11:41

I love the legs on that coffee table. G-plan? My parents have an old G-plan nest of teak tables and they're bombproof. Much nicer finish than their current version.

Our curtain pole is up high, too. It looks more balanced and blocks out light better.

7Days · 04/10/2017 11:42

But what we like is influenced by trends. To a large degree. There are very few diehard chintz fanatics, or So Cal Coastal fiends who can maintain that for a lifetime.

I'm redecorating- finally. I know I definitely do like blue velvet sofas as I wanted one 12 years ago but couldn't afford it. But the light grey walls and engineered parquet? I really really like it but its all trend
