My waters have just gone - AIBU to try and go back to sleep?!

DC2 is due today. I woke up at 00.55, felt a tiny pop before I felt a trickle of fluid. Waddled to the bathroom, got myself cleaned up, laid bed mats and towel on bed before getting back in. By 1.30 I was back in the bathroom changing pad etc from trickle no 2.

Absolutely no contractions so far. AIBU to try to go back to sleep and wait to call hospital tomorrow morning?? With DD1 my waters didn't go until I'd already got to the hospital

You need to call up the hospital. They told me to come in as soon as my water broke.

Call the hospital. Mine wanted you to come in once your waters break due to risk of infection. Best to check.

Happened to me with both kids - something about 3am pops! Depends on where you baby is positioned IME. DS was head down, we were told to sleep and come in at 11am for monitoring if labour hadn't started. DD was transverse, so I was asked to get to hospital asap and not stand up very long, to keep her cord away from my cervix. She did end up having a cord presentation, so it was a CS within the hour.

Just tried the hospital. No is engaged at the moment .....

I so don't want to go in at this time in the morning to be sent home again. DD is sound asleep so I'd have to wake DH to take me to hospital and call my mum or sister to come over and babysit.

Judging by the amount of fluids that went with DD I think it's hind waters that have gone. Not all of it.

Go back to sleep, I did with DC 2 and was 8cm when I woke up.

Lol mrspotts while I'd be ecstatic to wake up and be 8cm I don't think I'd make it to the hospital in time. It's only 10-15 mins away but when I had DD I was 8cm when triaged. She was born about 30-45 mins later.

Definitely sleep, even if you went in now they'd either send you home or put you on a horrible ward where you'd get no sleep

Got through to hospital. They want me to come in for exam but admitted they'd probably send me home straight after so happy for me to wait until morning as long as I feel baby's movements are normal.

Now how on earth do I try to go back to sleep??!!

My waters broke at home with both mine. The first one I was advised to go in but was then sent to a ward as I had no contractions ...startedcabout 1.5 hrs later ...10 hours later he was born. With second I was in middle of watching a film so watched the end then went in. Good job I did as he arrived 15 mins after getting to hospital. Contractions were very mild at home but went from mild to full blown in 2 contractions. Everyone is different though.

Hhhhhmmmm not sure how I will go back to sleep when I have to keep running to the bathroom!!
Still no pains though. DH will be waking up for work in about 3 hrs. Will see what's happening then.

Similar thing happened to me, waters broke - well part of it anyway - in the early hours. Called the hospital and they advised to go in first thing in the morning. I got sent home and booked it to be induced the next day as no other signs of labour. I did go into labour naturally that evening and DD was born the following morning. If I remember correctly I did need to have 2 courses of antibiotics via a drip as my waters had broke more than 24 hours before labour and there was risk of infection - can't remember the details clearly though as it was a bit of a blur.

Not far at all. Probably about 10 mins at this time of night. My parents (babysitters) are only about 10-15 min drive too

My waters broke at 4am & I got sent home from the hospital, didn't have DS until 4am the next day! I did end up with an infection though, so I would say wait but monitor, and with the quick turnaround last time, would it be possible to have your mum over now & she can sleep at yours just in case it's a "go go go" situation & she needs to mind DD?

If you can't sleep, maybe stick Netflix on for a little - always sends me to sleep!

My mum is on standby at the moment. She's replied to my texts and if she hasn't heard from me before she'll call me at 7.

Trying my best to go back to sleep but every time I start to drift off I feel the trickle of more fluid! I'm so glad we have laminate flooring in our bedroom!!
