DC2 is due today. I woke up at 00.55, felt a tiny pop before I felt a trickle of fluid. Waddled to the bathroom, got myself cleaned up, laid bed mats and towel on bed before getting back in. By 1.30 I was back in the bathroom changing pad etc from trickle no 2.

Absolutely no contractions so far. AIBU to try to go back to sleep and wait to call hospital tomorrow morning?? With DD1 my waters didn't go until I'd already got to the hospital

I hope it went well, OP!
With my second I realised that lying down slowed contractions and standing up hastened them. I didn't want to wake DP and DC1 after my waters went at night, so I just lay around on the spare bed until morning, then got up when everyone was awake, and had a baby two hours later. I'm not sure if this approach is widely recommended though. Hmm

KitKat1985 · 20/09/2017 13:13

Hope everything is going okay OP. x

Just a quick update. Got to hospital just after 10. There seemed to be major confusion at first as to where I should be - delivery or mcu. Eventually taken to triage and examined at 11.30. I was 2-3 cm but they could see baby's hair.

They are keeping me in. No beds in antenatal or labour so I've been put in postnatal for now. They are hoping I'll progress naturally and won't need induction etc

My ds was exactly the same, broke waters, did bugger all for 24 hours.

I went back to sleep.

Wishing you and babe all the best! Hope all goes well

SquareWord · 20/09/2017 13:43

Thanks for the update - have been thinking about you! Hope everything goes well and you have baby in your arms very soon.

EdgarAllenPoe · 20/09/2017 13:45

My waters broke at home at 41 weeks but no contractions, so I called the hospital who were in no rush to see me. I went in for monitoring a few hours later, then went home after a couple of hours. Told to come back in 24 hours for induction, but when I arrived there were no rooms available so I ended up waiting 2 days before they did anything. I eventually had him 3 days after my waters broke.

Based on that I'd let hospital know, but get some sleep for a few hours while you still can!

EdgarAllenPoe · 20/09/2017 13:48

Oops I can see I was too late replying. Good luck and I hope it goes quicker for you than it did for me! We had no complications due to the waters being gone for three days btw.
