DC2 is due today. I woke up at 00.55, felt a tiny pop before I felt a trickle of fluid. Waddled to the bathroom, got myself cleaned up, laid bed mats and towel on bed before getting back in. By 1.30 I was back in the bathroom changing pad etc from trickle no 2.

Absolutely no contractions so far. AIBU to try to go back to sleep and wait to call hospital tomorrow morning?? With DD1 my waters didn't go until I'd already got to the hospital

Sleep. My waters broke 36 hours before contractions started and I was told to stay home and rest as much as I could. But do tell your midwife so they know to expect you soon. Good luck!

lljkk · 20/09/2017 04:36

Sleep if you can! Get one of those big post-partum towels on. X fingers for a good day to come :)

Mandraki · 20/09/2017 04:42

Coldfeetwarmheart I saw this thread as I am awake in labour too! No waters gone yet but in a lot of pain. I've been told if waters go to ring hospital/triage right away and they will advise. Good luck!

fizzandchips · 20/09/2017 04:50

Good Luck OP and Coldfeet - it's over 14 years since I was in your position, but I remember the excitement and nervousness imagining I was the only person awake in the world. If only there was MN then! Thinking of you both.

BigFatGoalie · 20/09/2017 04:53

Good luck you two! I'm up feeding my newest and littlest DD so will be thinking of you. Safe deliveries for you both Flowers

Cupoteap · 20/09/2017 05:01

Dry birth not advisable ConfusedHmm

Op hope you are getting some sleep

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 20/09/2017 05:05

Thank you everyone.

I've managed to doze a bit. I've had a few pains since 3.30 but more like period pain than contractions. However that's how my labour with DD started. About 5 hrs of period pain every ten minutes before kicking in to the real thing.

DH'S alarm will go off in about 30 mins. I shall tell him he's not going into work!!

Mine went at 5am. I had to go in to be examined and then was sent home. Nothing happened so was induced at 5am the following morning (they take 24 hours v seriously round here!) and DD was born just before midnight.

I'm 37 weeks with #2. Really must slip a mattress protector down just in case...

honeysucklejasmine · 20/09/2017 05:06

Oooh exciting, good luck cold!

ThatsNotMyToddler · 20/09/2017 05:08

good luck op

asongforthelovers · 20/09/2017 05:52

Hospital got me in when waters went as contractions started as soon as they popped. Ah very exciting!! Good luck op 😁

TeFiti · 20/09/2017 05:56

How exciting OP! Period-like pains sound promising :)

My labours really ramped up after my waters broke and I had babies within a few hours, but a friend of mine had to be induced as she hadn't gone into labour for 48hrs after her waters broke. Hope things are more like the former than the latter for you!

Fingers crossed for a safe and smooth delivery for you and baby.

huha · 20/09/2017 06:05

So exciting OP!

Same happened to me and it was my hind waters. Period pains really ramped up quickly though and actual water went just before DS crowned 😲 From hind water break to birth= 2.5hrs.

TwoKidsAndCounting · 20/09/2017 06:12

Good luck OP!

AppleTrayBake · 20/09/2017 06:15

Silly35 · 20/09/2017 06:20

Good luck OP!
This happened to me at 3am. Tried to get some sleep and didn't want to wake DH. I was induced in the end as no contractions came. Hopefully things are picking up for you

actionrequired · 20/09/2017 06:21

Good luck!!

MrsJamin · 20/09/2017 06:23

Good luck OP!

SocksRock · 20/09/2017 06:38

Good luck! My waters went with DS about 11pm one evening. DH was adamant we should go back to sleep for a bit. I was a bit more panicky and insisted we go to hospital straight away. Luckily as it happens, he was born at 12.45am, less than 2 hours after my waters went. If we'd waited much, he'd have been born on the A34...

hangryhippo · 20/09/2017 06:39

Good luck OP!

PollytheDoily · 20/09/2017 06:42

Good luck

Bananamama1213 · 20/09/2017 06:48

Good luck!

My waters full on broke with DS at 39+6 and the hospital didn't want me to come in until my contractions were strong.

Annoyingly, I don't feel them so I didn't know I was contracting until my mum felt my stomach. We got to the hospital 5 hours later because I just knew I needed to go.. I was 10cm and pushing as soon as I got on the bed! He was born 20 minutes later!
