DC2 is due today. I woke up at 00.55, felt a tiny pop before I felt a trickle of fluid. Waddled to the bathroom, got myself cleaned up, laid bed mats and towel on bed before getting back in. By 1.30 I was back in the bathroom changing pad etc from trickle no 2.

Absolutely no contractions so far. AIBU to try to go back to sleep and wait to call hospital tomorrow morning?? With DD1 my waters didn't go until I'd already got to the hospital

How exciting! With my last labour (waters hadn't gone) I got bored of timing things at about 11pm so went to bed and slept for a few hours. But you sound like you labour much more quickly than me!

Good luck!

Sassenach85 · 20/09/2017 06:57

I went in as requested when my waters broke in middle of night. Worst decision ever. Lead to a long list of unnecessary interventions.

dustarr73 · 20/09/2017 07:00

Ah how exciting op,hope it kicks off soon for you.

orangeowls · 20/09/2017 07:03

Good luck, my waters went while I was in bed, but they were like a big tidal wave ha ha. Poor bed!

Sending vibes for a lovely quick labour. Good luck op!

IggyAce · 20/09/2017 07:28

Waters went first with both of mine you need to call the hospital. Both times I had to go in to get checked over. Contractions with dc1 started about 12 hours later and with dc2 it was about 8 hours. But both times after checks I left with a time to return for induction in case things didn't start naturally.

TheSconeOfStone · 20/09/2017 07:29

I never went in to labour after waters broke with either of mine. With DD1 they allowed me to go 4 days before induction. It was a very long 4 days. With DD2 there was a slight meconium colour so I went straight in for induction.

i hope things progress quickly now for you. How exciting.

yorkshireyummymummy · 20/09/2017 07:30

How wonderful. How exciting!
Good luck. I'm not ashamed to say I have tears in my eyes ( ever since I finally managed to have DD I cry at every baby I see/ hear about. Yes, I fill up a lot!)
Please please send us a pic of baby. This is my first MN labour thread!!

NeverEnoughSleep1 · 20/09/2017 07:31

Good luck OP

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 20/09/2017 07:31

Thank you everyone Smile

Well I called the hospital back. They don't seem so keen to see me now that I've got pains / contractions rather than just some waters gone. Happy for me to progress a bit more at home before going in. Pains are about 7 minutes apart at the moment, but not massively strong. They want me to wait until pains are stronger / closer to 5 mins apart.

I have mobilised the troops though. Stopped DH from going to work as it felt like I was progressing fairly well at 5.30/6am. Didnt want him geading out on m25. My mum and sister are also here so babysitters and birthing partners are all in place.

tinypop4 · 20/09/2017 07:40

call the hospital and check but when this happened to me they told me not to come in! I thought the advice was straight in because of potential infection. As it happens my contractions started about an hour later so I did end up in hospital a few hours after that, but do check with your hospital.

Katmeifyoucan · 20/09/2017 07:44

Oh so exciting! Best of luck op.

PerryPerryThePlatypus · 20/09/2017 07:47

Oh what a lovely thread, how exciting for you OP. Wishing you a not too painful Labour and birth.

LakieLady · 20/09/2017 07:49

Awww, good luck!

As a general principle, when sleep is an option, I'd advise going for it. However, after a friend waited for her contractions to become stronger/closer together (on the advice of the hospital) before going in, and ended up delivering her DS2 in the back of the car at the side of the road, I'm a little less laid back now.

JanQuadrantVincent · 20/09/2017 07:51

Good luck OP! Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy when labour starts

tamepanda · 20/09/2017 07:55

No advice as I was induced and had my waters broken in hospital but did want to say best of luck and happy new baby at some point soon.

(I'm following your thread with interest as I'm 36 + 2 with my second and actually don't know what to look out despite giving birth last year Blush)

KitKat1985 · 20/09/2017 08:01

Glad you've got everything sorted OP. Since your last labour was quick, it sounds like there may well be a lovely newborn in your arms by the end of the day. Smile Good luck!
