I'd imagined that political ads on FB weren't being labelled because the legislation lagged the technology.

Turns out the legislation covered the technology just fine - so FB asked for an exemption.

It's quite scary how people can be manipulated by Facebook and Twitter. You have to wonder how much people read is real - even when 'incidents' happen and people are supposed to have said things on FB or twitter - are they genuine?

You can see how people want to believe it as it confirms their beliefs.

They particularly believe 'trusted individuals'. ''twas ever thus - maybe not so immediate though.

Met a client at work today, a lovely man in his 80s, retired farm labourer, family man. He happily mused about how much he liked Trump because 'he's a man just like me, he says what he thinks'. He wants him to 'sort out those koreans'. I guess he was the right age to fight in the Korean war though I didn't ask if he had.

Felt a bit down after. I think he will win in 2020.

That article is frightening - but it does at least point some direction to go.

Seems to follow the model described by the Daily Beast: eg makes the right noises with a post "against" some white pride site.

But also, "Boston Antifa" and some of its repliers seem to be pushing "Trans in the NFL" under the #TakeAKnee hashtag.

That interests me, because I've long suspected that some of crazier trans stuff being circulated at the moment is actually just for disruption of feminist discourse, rather than genuine support for transsexual people. I haven't been sure who's behind it.

Looks like I'm right that trans stuff is seen as a good disruption tool... and it's not just feminist discourse being targeted in this instance.

Moore's election will likely have stirred things up.
