Personally I think that a transwoman should be sent to a male prison. Sure they might feel intimidated or scared and may even suffer abuse at the hands of their male inmates but imo the whole point of prison is that it should be a horrible experience. Perhaps if transwomen are harassed in prison then it might remind them to behave when they get out and put them off from reoffending.

Just wait until men can 'self identify' as women next year. Then it will be open season.

With the increasing amount of male prisoners 'transitioning' I think it's about time there was a prison for transsexuals. One wing could be for MTT and the other for FTT. If they want to be closer to home they can choose to go into a prison appropriate to their biological sex.

Ok I can't even be arsed to read through the cluster fuck of the last few comments. Having worked in prisons, my view is every prisoner with a penis should be in a male prison, every prisoner without a penis should be in a female prison. I have no issue with MTT who have had their penis removed going into a female prison. My issue is the risk penises create in female prisons (alongside the fact that 80% of MTT have no intention of having their male genitalia removed).

And what cost £10,000 on the NHS via prison that gave him his womanhood with penis still intact? I don't believe that figure. Nevertheless, I do think.

Clearly what we have are men who are abusing the system and transwomen in order to get access to women.

If I was a transwoman going about my ordinary everyday life (like most transwomen), I would be horrified and disgusted at this man.

I don't think there is a universally agreed definition of transphobia anymore @Elendon.

It's not just the obvious stuff like hatred, poor treatment, or broad stereotypes about a group of people. I think it's becoming any situation or comment that could potentially trigger someone's dysphoria or upset them in any way.

It's any comment that says you can't be a woman if you have a penis, for example, or suggests that gender isn't a feeling, or labels someone as a "transwoman" instead of "just" a woman. Many things on this thread would be labelled transphobic elsewhere.

It's how conversations like this are routinely shut down and why situations like this one will become increasingly commonplace.

This is why gender critical radfems have been so worried. This is why we've been discussing it so exhaustively. It's not a random abstract thing. It's real and it's hugely damaging to women. THIS is what we're on about.

Being gay (a sexual preference and nothing to do with gender) can bring about the death penalty, jail and severe beatings and rape. How @abacuss can you possibly equate this currently legal throughout the world behaviour with a double rapist who wants to 'identify' as a woman?
