YANBU at all. This a male with a penis, regardless of his feels, for which I give not one fuck. But of course, this has been pointed out by women for a few years now and all we got in return was rape/death threats and being shouted down due to being bigoted TERFS

Well, yes, some people here could have daughters in prison. I assume that female prisoners are not born, orc-like, from some sort of a pod. They are someone's daughter as well.

And almost all of us use things like changing rooms and hospital wards at some point in our lives. What about our right to safety in those places?

My point isn't that you only need to worry if you personally are in prison...my point is that you only need to worry about people in prison.

This doesn't extend to the whole of society and panic about general erosion of rights.

Yes it is wrong. Yes it is a problem. For all of us that women in prison aren't safe. No, it isn;t time to declare all things trans 'political correctness gone mad'.

There is a problem dealing with transpeople in prisons. That is where the problem is...not lurking behind every lamppost.

I've shared this on fb with a comment showing my outrage and I've already had one person say "let's see how long it is before people judge transgenders on this one incident"

US prisons are fucking awful places. We really do not want to set them up as an aspiration for UK prisons.

I think a safe starting point is that all people in prison should have a reasonable expectation of safety from violence and sexual violence. This makes dealing with transpeople in prison an additional difficulty. The answer clearly isn't to put rapists in an open setting with women they are likely to offend against. It also clearly isn't to leave transpeople in an unsafe environment in a male prison either.

I'm pretty certain it isn't desperately hard to land on a reasonable solution outside of these flawed options.

It's not that long ago the daily mail were reporting that a Christian child was put in Muslim foster care where no one could speak English. Pretty sure the bible doesn't suggest getting so off your face on drugs that the police have to take your child away.

Turns out the child's maternal grandmother doesn't speak English and is Muslim.

It could be true and I'm not saying otherwise, but the other prisoners have reported unwanted advances and s/he has been segregated. Sounds like they have monitored the situation and been quick to jump on it. It's not ideal at all putting a rapist in a woman's prison, but there are so many sad stories of genuine victims who have been put in male prisons and raped when they would have been safer in a women's prison. That isn't right either.

Personally I'm not convinced sex offenders should be in mainstream prison anyway. But then putting them all together isn't a good idea either as they give each other ideas. Maybe they should all be in solitary until and unless treatment can be shown to be successful. I don't know what the answer is.

Um no, pretty sure I read about this EXACT SAME THING happening in a prison in Texas. Texas: They are experts at misogyny.

A woman can be raped and impregnated in prison, but if she hasn't got rape insurance, she'll be forced to have the rapist's baby.

(Which is, by the way, another reason why putting bepenised males in women's prisons is not the same as putting (hypothetical, as this is incredibly rare) female rapists there.)

But I am sure Morphene cares shit about all those women in the US and Ireland who are not only raped and impregnated because Morphene does not want them to be protected, which is bad enough, but also forced to give birth to their rapist's offspring, in prison.

It is a dismal illustration of where the erosion of rights leads for those vulnerable individuals involved and this will affect vulnerable people in situations outside of prison too.

Women's prisons are for WOMEN. They aren't safe havens for gay males, nor for male pedophiles, nor for male anything else.

Women's prisons are for women. There will, no doubt, soon be many sad stories of genuine victims who would have belonged in a women's prison, because they are female, but were put into a men's prison, because they identified as male.

Seems rape is common in msle pridons. Does that mean that every male raped in prison should have been put in a women's prison. Why just the ones who say they are women?
