Do women really not count here, has all common sense been ababdoned? How is this even possible?

Unisex! As in individual rooms - yes. As in stalls out to a communal area - doubt there'd be much support. Have you seen how unprivate stalls in the US are? I'm not surprised folk have issues over there.

I AM in the U.S. And stalls like that is life. But people come in and go. I am too busy to worry about transgenders

blueberrypie0112 · 08/09/2017 20:21

In fact, I deal with broken locks all the time. It is a waste of time and money to worry about transgenders

hackmum · 08/09/2017 20:33

The Pink News article is an absolute disgrace. So a male rapist decides to announce he's a woman so that he can be moved to a women's prison and access more potential victims...and the problem, as far as Pink News is concerned, is that a newspaper is "deadnaming" him? Is this person totally lacking in any kind of moral compass, or just incredibly stupid? Or both?

FerretsAreFeminists · 08/09/2017 20:34

bambambini those toilet stalls Shock

blueberrypie0112 · 08/09/2017 20:36

Yes, in work place, schools, and stores. Very rare to have it any other way

AssassinatedBeauty · 08/09/2017 20:37

The comments under that article are bizarre, I can't tell if some of them are parodies or serious. Some people these days seem to inhabit a totally different reality to me.

QuentinSummers · 08/09/2017 21:09

There is no need to treat transgenders as criminals if they haven't done anything to anyone.
Why are you talking about this on a thread about a transgender rapist with a penis in a women's prison?

busyboysmum · 08/09/2017 21:22

You know a few years ago i was a total trans ally and would have been disgusted at the many threads in mumsnet. Then i learned of the sports issue. Then i started reading and followed both Gender critical and transactivists. I started to feel uneasy and see problems. I still refused to misgender, tried to stay polite and engage. Now I don't want to call them women at all (we partly brought this on ourselves by being "nice" and tolerant) - find myself taking a pretty hardline stance and will even misgender (used to avoid this by using they) the more aggressive demanding males i come across. Think i've realised being nice - using the language "she", "woman" even "transwoman" allowed this whole Orwellian situation to unfold.

Absolutely completely agree with this. Also think if you talk to normal Joe Public you will find the same opinion. I think that the tide is turning against trans people. Everyone I speak to in my normal life, the more they become aware of what's going on the more they are against it.

bambambini · 08/09/2017 21:59

"There is no need to treat transgenders as criminals if they haven't done anything to anyone."

Do you have any idea of the hate and wrath you would receive for calling transfolk "transgenders"

I think that's actually very sad for the MTT/FTT who aren't part of the rabid trans activist movement. Unfortunately they will also be the victims of any backlash against trans people even though they don't agree with their motives and aims.

So many people being thrown under the bus for the sake of lady feelz male privilege Sad

Unfortunately this is how many Transfolk and transactivists/allies think these days. one comment even said they would support Hitler over the evil poster who had a problem with this issue. These are the folk being listened to and on whose say so - new laws are being proposed

blueberrypie0112 · 08/09/2017 22:18

I know they rather be called female or male but in this case we are discussing about transgenders and If they are called differently, I wouldn't know about it as I always seen this term used on when discussing about certain specific topic or issues such as this post. At least in the U.S.

blueberrypie0112 · 08/09/2017 22:27

Summer, Like I said, it is prison is when I feel differently. I am not going to take how I feel about certain topic under certain issues and apply it everything like it is simple as black and white.

bambambini · 08/09/2017 22:30

Transgenders is seen as being hugely insulting. Pro trans Amy Siskind recently used it innocently and was bombarded by hate messages - there is now a petition calling for a public apology and for her to be sacked. The fact you actually used that term suggests you really don't know your subject.

OP posts:
blueberrypie0112 · 08/09/2017 22:39

Never heard of her. I will use transfolk now on. But no, I don't know much about the issue. I just follow some media here and there (and twitter accounts) and

AssignedPerfectAtBirth · 08/09/2017 22:40

Yes and poor Amy is more right on than the right on thing. One stray 's' and she was ostracised by the lefty twitter cool people

NoProblemForMe · 08/09/2017 22:55

Maybe Amy has had her eyes opened about the trans agenda now, especially if there's been any rape threats against her (a common MO). I hope they alienate more and more of their deluded supporters with their bile.

PricklyBall · 08/09/2017 23:01

Yes, hopefully it will be peak trans for Amy. (She is brilliant as a political thinker - the Library of Congress has started keeping her "list of signs of growing authoritarianism" which she issues weekly - if she can shed the blinkers on rampant transactivism that can only be a good thing).

It also underlines the fact that no matter how much of a trans ally a liberal feminist tries to be, sooner or later she will say something - some casual reference to periods, mentioning stats on sex offenders being overwhelmingly male - which is considered heresy according to the transactivist cult, and then find herself the victim of a pile-on. Because as with the Salem witch trials, the real reason you're being attacked is actually rampant misogyny.

I also agree with NoProblem a few posts back that not only women, but the genuinely dysphoric trans people who've been quietly getting on with life as best they can, are being sacrificed to the transactivist cult.

NoProblemForMe · 08/09/2017 23:07

Not sure about the validity of this but dropping it here while I pop off to consult with Dr Google

busyboysmum · 08/09/2017 23:49

It does seems to be the new thing to do to get a cushy time in prison and a bit of extra attention while you talk about your feelz.

ArcheryAnnie · 09/09/2017 00:32

I am too busy to worry about transgenders

How nice for you, blueberry.

In the meantime, women and girls who are unable to access women's refuges and women's homeless shelters because people with beards and penis - males - have demanded access to these shelters, and made them unsafe for women to use, get left in the cold.

In the meantime women and girls who have already been assaulted will think twice before going into a bathroom when out in public because they don't want to be assaulted again, and we aren't allowed to challenge men in restricted places any more. And if you know anything about the history of women's access to the public sphere in history, you will know this is not a good thing.

And in the meantime, girls will give up sport because they don't want to change in front of a teenage boy with a hard-on who calls himself genderfluid, and thus demands to use the female changing room when he is in "femme mode".

And in the meantime, women in the penal system, which includes some of the most vulnerable women in society, will find that being locked in a cell is not enough to keep them away from males who harm women. Because those males will be locked in the cells with them.

Well done you, blueberry, for being so busy.

ArcheryAnnie · 09/09/2017 00:44

bambambini the poster in those comments whose self-appointed task is "flagging transphobia" posted this about a lesbian - which makes the misogyny and homophobia of trans activism so, so clear.

Lets see if the comments are moderated, and which ones are taken down. (Won't be holding my breath. I'm old enough to remember when Pink News was an actual LGB paper.)

It was once an LGB paper? Really? Wow, one wouldn't know from looking at it now, looks more like it originated as misogynist MRA paper.

NoProblemForMe · 09/09/2017 12:06

Yes, Pink News was once a very vocal champion of gay/bi rights. Now it's been hijacked by people who think that lesbians should be happy to suck on a lady penis or, ya know, 'transphobia'.
