All over Facebook mothers ott reactions to children going to school..
The one that got my goat was....
"I stand and watch you walk away with tears in my eyes, the girl I once knew has gone, you will never be fully mine again"
The child is going into year 2 not sent to a Japanese concentration camp...

Flowers @endofthelinefinally

My children were in school pre-Facebook, thank god. I know a few of the mums who would have loved that sort of thing.

EB123 · 05/09/2017 11:01

Tell them they can always home educate! It makes me laugh seeing how competitive it can be.

We home ed and each year i try to take a nice not back to school picture of mine, I love seeing the children growing each year in their back to school photos so like to do my own version.

VioletCharlotte · 05/09/2017 11:02

This really made me laugh OP. YANBU. Bloody Facebook.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 05/09/2017 11:04

Year 2 Grin How on earth did she manage to survive the child starting Reception?

WhooooAmI24601 · 05/09/2017 11:07

DS1 had his first day at High School yesterday and in the obligatory dull-as-fuck photo I took you could see his eyes screaming "hep me, help me" and DS2 began Y2 today and shouted "Take my photo, quickly, I've done my hair ready for it" because he is a brown nose and loves school a ridiculous amount.

I'm thrilled to be getting back into a proper routine. It's killed me listening to them squabble and fight. I think I'm the only parent on Facebook who hasn't cried over their return to school. They're still arseholes when they come out at 3pm.

LongWavyHair · 05/09/2017 11:08

I'll admit I didn't want my children to go back to school. I didn't cry or write any poems about it, but I still felt a pang of sadness when they scuttled off inside. The peace and quiet is lovely though Grin
Oh and I did post photos on Facebook. Don't like it then unfollow/hide the post. Simples. Wink

SilverBirchTree · 05/09/2017 11:10

😂

Queenofthestress · 05/09/2017 11:21

I can not wait for 12 when my ds goes to school, bring on the proper routine again, hes been a nightmare

Downtheroadfirstonleft · 05/09/2017 11:30

Mine went back today and I miss them and am rather teary.

I shall keep my shame private though and just watch Escape to the Country all day, with an endless run of cups of tea...

MrsJayy · 05/09/2017 11:30

I had to laugh at a back to school photo boy was going into 1st year of high school and he had blow dried his hair within an inch andi am sure he had a little pout going on 😁

SilverDragonfly1 · 05/09/2017 11:36

Naice Jesus. I hope the writer's child is smart enough to figure out scansion before GCSE...

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 05/09/2017 11:38

DD is back tomorrow and its her last year at Primary. Cant wait for her to go back and judging by the face her uniform is ready, school bag is packed, she's ready to go back too.

BellMcEnd · 05/09/2017 11:41

It's all so bloody competitive. One fb "friend" has just announced that she believes she's "the only mama who's going to miss her little minis when they go back to school" and that she's going to "sob all day tomorrow."

Bleurgh. Competitive over emoting. Gets on my baps

liz70 · 05/09/2017 11:44

It doesn't last.

Haha, all my Mum friends seem to be like this, whilst I'm more of the bubbly popping variety. I've found myself having to put on a pained expression and nod sagely whilst they discuss their woes, but inside I'm dancing. Grin

TheRealBiscuitAddict · 05/09/2017 11:49

Anyone seen the FB warning which goes around every year about the woman who accepted a random friend request on FB then the following morning put a proud first day picture of her PFB on FB only for the new found friend to collect the child from the school which he'd identified from her picture and take her away to murder her while the parent was oblivious? Actually haven't seen it yet this year but it inevitably pops up on my timeline somewhere around this time of year. Grin I shouldn't grin I know but seriously.....

Also, those posting over emotional drivel, those children will be on fb themselves before too long and would be horrified at the thought.....

Mine is going into GCSE years and has had a fantastic holiday with holiday with his dad plus time with my family and time with his mates all in the equation. This morning he got himself up and out to the shops to buy pens etc and will be back at school tomorrow.

I won't be cracking open the champagne when he's gone but neither will I be sobbing into my book of emotive poems....

MorrisZapp · 05/09/2017 11:54

Oh Liz that's hilarious! Is your delightful DD giving us the finger? :)

upperlimit · 05/09/2017 11:58

Oh, yeah, conspicuous parenting. Your love for your kids isn't real unless you have an audience for it. #documentingmemories

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 05/09/2017 11:59

I just can't get over how many parents seem to think it's a good idea to put pictures of their children in school uniform, clearly identifying the school they attend, all over Facebook. The mind boggles.

Why? Confused

MerlinsLeftButtock · 05/09/2017 12:00

I was tad emosh when the boy started yrR (not enough to attend 'tea and tissues' though..) and this morning was a bit 🙁 but only because the little mite said he wasn't ready for year 2, all teary. But crikey, I'm glad he's back to school! He needs the structure. And the discipline. Don't mind a 'my! Haven't they grown!' Type post, but the soppy nonsense is a bit lame and I don't believe it for a second.

Puppymouse · 05/09/2017 12:02

One of my FB friends wrote a poem for her DS. It was neither good nor funny. It's lovely that she adores him so much but a) get a grip and b) fetch me a bowl to get rid of this sick in my mouth 😷

Think it, by all means write it but please don't share it and make me judge you.

aintnothinbutagstring · 05/09/2017 12:03

YANBU, I work weekends (nights so I do still see them) so love the holidays with them and doing as we please. But also love seeing what they achieve at school and watching them grow. Not gonna lie, love having a cuppa in peace without being lectured in all the different types of Pokemon too!

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 05/09/2017 12:09

i cried when i made my eldest's very first tiny little packed lunch.

of course nowadays i practically kick them out of the moving car as i whizz past roughly where the college is

I can definitely relate to this!

liz70 · 05/09/2017 12:11

"Is your delightful DD giving us the finger?"

Something like that. Grin

Now that DD1's off away at uni, and just a year left at school for DD2…

I do find it a bit sad so many parents are actually sick of the sight of their kids to be honest!
