All over Facebook mothers ott reactions to children going to school..
The one that got my goat was....
"I stand and watch you walk away with tears in my eyes, the girl I once knew has gone, you will never be fully mine again"
The child is going into year 2 not sent to a Japanese concentration camp...

"I stand and watch you walk away with tears in my eyes, the girl I once knew has gone, you will never be fully mine again" Is that her married already, doesn't time fly. Grin

Op you made me lol!!!!
A friend of mine who is older and her kids all in their 30's recently posted on fb about how mad a mother she was (tongue in cheek) because she used to dance with joy when her kids went back to school!

Personally, I was counting down the days to some peace and quiet, structure and better behaviour all round!

On a serious note, I think it's another facet of all this 'perfect lives on social media' shite we are subjected to.

MrsOverTheRoad · 05/09/2017 10:18

I stand at the gates,
A lump in my throat,
as I watch my princess walk away.
Today there are tears...
Of gladness and joy!
As I skip off alone for the day!

Neutrogena · 05/09/2017 10:18

OP - maybe that mother loves her kids more than you (or I) do ?

The80sweregreat · 05/09/2017 10:18

I wasnt at all upset when mine went to school, was glad for a few hours peace if i am honest! long time ago though.
Its just life, you have to get over these things and try and deal with it ( if it really does upset you that much)

ticketytock1 · 05/09/2017 10:21

**bad mother, not mad mother lol

Wafflenose · 05/09/2017 10:22

My eldest has just cycled herself in for her first day at secondary school. I was happy for her. My youngest has been a royal pain this week, and I was happy to smile and wave her off into Year 5. However, I have a friend with DCs the exact same age, and she turned up looking like she'd spent the morning in floods of tears. Her younger DC was crying too... all because the nearly-12 year old is off to big school. They will be in the same class as mine, and they'll be fine together! I knew she would be upset, but I feel overjoyed!

Whatislove233 · 05/09/2017 10:22

I'm pleased it's not just me who thinks its ott ...
I like to think I love my kids as much as the next woman but 6 weeks with them non stop a few hours peace from "Mam I'm bored and can I have some pounds please or I'm hungry "

What really makes me laugh is seeing the weepy posts from mums who've done nothing but whinge about their little darlings all summer long!

RiversrunWoodville · 05/09/2017 10:25

I was a bit sad on the first day dd1 went to school (preemie and the youngest in her year not at all ready, still not really coping but that's a whole other thread) by Halloween I was putting out the flags! Now in P4 I'm closer to whatislove

liz70 · 05/09/2017 10:25

"All my friends are popping champagne"

It's been an odd three weeks here with DDs 2 and 3 back in school but DD1 still hanging about at home. We finally waved her off to uni on Sunday, and later opened a bottle of cava to celebrate. Grin

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/09/2017 10:25

endoftheline Flowers

Self absorbed twaddle. Dd went back last Wednesday. No tears from me!

ShuttyTown · 05/09/2017 10:26

@MrsOverTheRoad love it that's brilliant!!!

MusicToMyEars800 · 05/09/2017 10:28

OP, you have made me snort with laughter with your post Grin
Yanbu!
Mine are back tomorrow, and it can't come soon enough, over 6 weeks of fighting, squabbling and trying to keep them occupied without spending a small fortune.... They are going into yr 1 and 3.

One of the reasons I deleted facebook all those years ago Grin

MissNobody · 05/09/2017 10:28

YANBU 😂😂😂 People who post -constant - crap like this about their little darlings don't actually realise that no one cares!!

Spottylu · 05/09/2017 10:29

😂 That's hilarious.

ds starts reception next week. He's so eager and I can't tell you how happy I am that he finally gets to go to school like his big sister. We can't wait and it has nothing to do with that one day a week I'll have when they are both in school and I'm not working. 💃🏽

grannytomine · 05/09/2017 10:29

I only managed the first post, laughed so much I think I need to go and change my underwear. God knows how some people will cope if something bad happens.

MrsJayy · 05/09/2017 10:32

Riversun There is a huge difference from feeling a little bit sad to emotional drivel ,

YoullShootYourEyeOut · 05/09/2017 10:32

I am obviously a shit mum, looking forward to my two going back tomorrow and Thursday. I am skint and useless at entertaining them. Blush
I do love the little (and not so little) sods though. Grin

Serialweightwatcher · 05/09/2017 10:32

It's pathetic and very ott ... I had a tear when mine first started school because you feel odd that they are now growing up and you need to let go so to speak, but that quote is ridiculous and I couldn't wait for some 'me' time too Grin

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 05/09/2017 10:33

Yanbu. All this competitive over emoting is ridiculous.

The local infant school seem to actively encourage it. Fuck off with your tissues and assumptions.

Thank fuck they're back at school!

FuzzyCustard · 05/09/2017 10:33

I'm quite annoyed by all the "My child going to school" photos on FB. Yep...the huge majority of children go to school. Amazing. I don't actually care. (Yes yes, I know I can avoid the pictures but they are everywhere!).

If I had thought about it enough I might have put out a warning that I would de-friend anyone who posts such a picture. But I don't care enough to even do that!

Go to school. Don't go to school. But leave me out of it!

NaiceToMeetYou · 05/09/2017 10:36

It only feels like yesterday, a tiny baby laid on my chest,
All cuddled up under a cosy blanket where you would snooze and I would rest,
They told me time would fly by fast but back then I didn't see,
How quickly you would grow to you and soon be apart from me.

Your shoes are picked and really shiny ready for you to wear,
We've practiced all the different ways you want to wear your hair,
Your uniform looks big on you and when it's on you feel so proud,
As you walk into the classroom I'll be waving amongst the crowd.

I feel quite sad about this change but that's something you'll never see,
I want you to feel so confident when you're there away from me,
I'll miss our lazy mornings where you climb into my bed,
When we have no other plans then reading stories we've already read.

Remember you're strong and super brave, be kind to all your friends,
Sometimes you'll miss your mummies but we'll be there when the school day ends.
Learn it all, smile a lot and most of all have fun,
I'm always right behind you, your forever loving mum 💖

Envy < not envy. Do I win?

KityGlitr · 05/09/2017 10:37

"The child is going into year 2 not sent to a Japanese concentration camp..."

😂 Thanks for the giggle! Some people are so OTT on Facebook.

DeleteOrDecay · 05/09/2017 10:39

YANBU. My eldest has her first day of reception tomorrow and I can't bloody wait, and neither can she!
