Fish N Chips

Okay ... crazy one for you ... currently on holiday with my DP my DC and three DSC

Tonight we ordered our meals at a restaurant on site.. my meal, my son and one of the step children meal arrived, the others didn't. So immediately we asked where the other meals where and the restaurant apologised and said they had forgotten. They offered us free fish and chips from the site chippy which we accepted.
While we were waiting for the chips my son and two of the step children went back to eat the food from the restaurant.

My other DSC went back in a bit after to eat half of "my" meal with his sister, but she'd eaten all the double cheeseburger and chips. Anyway got back to the caravan and DSS who had nothing to eat joined us and the 3 of us tucked into fish & chips. Then the others arrived back after eating their meals, and asked for their fish & chips as well?!?! (First question, what would you do give them it?)

But then DSD said to DSS, save it till tomorrow as that's what we'd said to the others (bearing in mind they'd eaten already). Is that weird what DSS said? Is she trying to say it's fair? Wwyd???

You're going to reheat fish and chips the next day? Bleurgh

I did this once. It was ok ish.

Member652554 · 27/08/2017 23:20

@shotsfired there is a locum animal , with hideous agency fees

Resurgam2016 · 27/08/2017 23:21

I think if you peeled the batter from the fish and re baked in the oven in constituent parts alongside the chips then I think they might be ok. Curry sauce probably a gonner though.

I'd stick with goat curry.

Ginkypig · 27/08/2017 23:21

I don't see the problem in the end you had 9 meals for 6 people

Plenty enough for everyone to have 1 meal each and anyone who wanted more could have a share of the three extra meals could if they wanted?

thecatfromjapan · 27/08/2017 23:22

^Yabu to eat two portions of fish and chips each yes.
The other family members made the effort to eat the provided meals. They should not then suffer because you chose to quickly move on to other cuisine.^

Oh! Is that what was going on?

That's quite strange. Why wouldn't you share the extra chips with the others? And how come DSS ate nothing?

That's an awful lot of chips for two people to eat.

thecatfromjapan · 27/08/2017 23:23

I'm not sure I could post very clearly after that amount of fish and chips.

TizzyDongue · 27/08/2017 23:24

But what were three people, who didn't have yesterday's fish and chips, going to eat tomorrow?

ILoveMillhousesDad · 27/08/2017 23:25

You take the goats over, leave the grain, and bring the foxes back on the boat

Brilliant Grin

TizzyDongue · 27/08/2017 23:28

Thought they were chickens not goats. Do goats eat grain? Actually they would wouldn't they, goats would eat anything. Any goats close by OP? Best keep them away from the three fish and chips!!

Notaneasyone4me · 27/08/2017 23:29

Was it - one of your dsd told your dss not to eat his fish and chips??

pinkingshears · 27/08/2017 23:29

elephant

ASD. He's just been chased back to bed, trust me!

Ontheboardwalk · 27/08/2017 23:29

DamsonGin surely it would be better to scoff the lot between them all now whilst they are nice and hot?

Although I really want fish and chips now and could be tempted to eat them cold if that's all that was on offer. Why aren't there any 24 hour fish and chips delivery outlets!

theftbyfinding · 27/08/2017 23:30

FrustratedTeddyLamp I wasn't attacking the venue of choice at all. Merely reflecting that on any enjoyable holiday I've had, mumsnetting about who ate what free food never really figured.

Justaboy · 27/08/2017 23:31

I think - therefore we can assume, you've stuffed yer boat
races:)

elephantoverthehill · 27/08/2017 23:31

Right, put the chips in the bottom of the boat and the donkey, hens and fox will eat them all.

DamsonGin · 27/08/2017 23:32

Definite gap in the market there, I'd happily have some chips and gravy right now. And yes, definitely better hot but a great hangover cure cold.

NoSquirrels · 27/08/2017 23:33

Reheated fish and chips?

REHEATED chip shop fish and chips?

YABVU - along with anyone else "saving" their floppy cold potato products.

Eww.

ProphetOfDoom · 27/08/2017 23:33

I was given a Tefal Actifry by my ILs & it's fab for reheating chipshop chips. It may have other purposes.

Cherrytart6 · 27/08/2017 23:37

Everyone should have one fish and chips with curry sauce. No one should have seconds unless everyone else has had their main meal

Resurgam2016 · 27/08/2017 23:38

But there were only three curry sauce...

ShatnersBassoon · 27/08/2017 23:41

Before I think this through fully, who's sleeping in the dining table-cum-bed?

ShotsFired · 27/08/2017 23:44

@ShatnersBassoon I may be wrong but I think the goat has hooked up with the fox over a shared love of curry sauce. They'll be in the dining table bed thing.

Ceto · 27/08/2017 23:45

Why didn't the restaurant just serve the other three meals?
