Fish N Chips

Okay ... crazy one for you ... currently on holiday with my DP my DC and three DSC

Tonight we ordered our meals at a restaurant on site.. my meal, my son and one of the step children meal arrived, the others didn't. So immediately we asked where the other meals where and the restaurant apologised and said they had forgotten. They offered us free fish and chips from the site chippy which we accepted.
While we were waiting for the chips my son and two of the step children went back to eat the food from the restaurant.

My other DSC went back in a bit after to eat half of "my" meal with his sister, but she'd eaten all the double cheeseburger and chips. Anyway got back to the caravan and DSS who had nothing to eat joined us and the 3 of us tucked into fish & chips. Then the others arrived back after eating their meals, and asked for their fish & chips as well?!?! (First question, what would you do give them it?)

But then DSD said to DSS, save it till tomorrow as that's what we'd said to the others (bearing in mind they'd eaten already). Is that weird what DSS said? Is she trying to say it's fair? Wwyd???

What I don't get if you're on holiday, eating badly as a treat, got 6 portions of fish and chips free, does it matter if the 3 who already ate want their portion? As long as the DC chose and didn't get told he couldn't have part of the original 3 meals it seems unimportant

Judydreamsofhorses · 27/08/2017 22:59

God, I wish I had fish and chips now.

Justoneme · 27/08/2017 22:59

6 fish and chips, with x3 curry sauce and x 2 mushy peas were ordered... however 3 children decided to go back to eat the meals which had been served. (We got all the fish and chips there and then no vouchers)

All I really want to know ...
should I had given the x3 children the fish n chips (even though they had a meal)

Also what is the deal with my step daughter saying to her brother you should save your fish and chips for tomorrow as that's only fair ... (because I had said she couldn't have two meals)

Ask her, not us.

Resurgam2016 · 27/08/2017 23:02

Only x3 curry sauce?? ( fruity or spicy). YABU

Sounds like an exciting holiday...

FrustratedTeddyLamp · 27/08/2017 23:02

I think you should have unless you needed the leftovers to save money, otherwise you haven't lost anything because you didn't expect to have them left over and if there were none left over then you DP and DC have then had 2 meals to their 1

Buttercupsandaisies · 27/08/2017 23:03

I would have taken the fish and chips and left the restaurant meals- or let everyone pick at the meals before fish and chips

Tbf that's a bit cunty we know nothing about OP and her family if that's the holiday they can/ want to provide for their DC that's up to them not everyone can go off to the Hampton for a week

SnickersWasAHorse · 27/08/2017 23:05

Fish and chips saved from a previous day wouldn't be very nice.

ilovepixie · 27/08/2017 23:05

You take the goats over, leave the grain, and bring the foxes back on the boat

That's how you do it! It's baffled me for years!

SavoyCabbage · 27/08/2017 23:05

Surely you can't eat fish and chips the next day? If you actually had the fish and chips, I'd have let them eat them I think.

Member652554 · 27/08/2017 23:05

Lol people save fish and chips until the next day ?? Really? Is that a thing ? Hmm

Justoneme · 27/08/2017 23:05

yeah the curry sauce was righty tasty ... and the peas were lush!

It would be a lot easier to understand if some of you had a pie or a sausage

honeysucklejasmine · 27/08/2017 23:07

So, what did you do with the leftover fish and chips? Or did 3 of you eat 6 portions worth between you?

Resurgam2016 · 27/08/2017 23:08

Probably you should have ordered fish & chips for everyone in the first place. Would have saved all this angst.

Mellington · 27/08/2017 23:08

Where will the fish and chips be stored overnight? When will they be consumed tomorrow? Breakfast, lunch or supper?

sweetbitter · 27/08/2017 23:09

DSD definitely shouldn't be telling her brother when he can and can't eat. That's not for her to decide, she's the child not the parent.

Am on the fence re: whether restaurant meal eaters should have been allowed fish and chips too. I think as a one off you might as well have let them have a few chips at least. You're on holiday. Otherwise you should have made the choice clear at the time that if they went back to eat restaurant meals it'd be no fish and chips. Or just not ordered 6 portions of fish and chips for 3 people.

Mellington · 27/08/2017 23:10

Also, what restaurant brings half an order and then dolls out fish and chips from a local chippy? Surely they'd just bring the other meals out, it doesn't exactly sound cordon bleu.

ProphetOfDoom · 27/08/2017 23:10

Perhaps it would be clearer expressed as a quadratic equation?
