Fish N Chips

Okay ... crazy one for you ... currently on holiday with my DP my DC and three DSC

Tonight we ordered our meals at a restaurant on site.. my meal, my son and one of the step children meal arrived, the others didn't. So immediately we asked where the other meals where and the restaurant apologised and said they had forgotten. They offered us free fish and chips from the site chippy which we accepted.
While we were waiting for the chips my son and two of the step children went back to eat the food from the restaurant.

My other DSC went back in a bit after to eat half of "my" meal with his sister, but she'd eaten all the double cheeseburger and chips. Anyway got back to the caravan and DSS who had nothing to eat joined us and the 3 of us tucked into fish & chips. Then the others arrived back after eating their meals, and asked for their fish & chips as well?!?! (First question, what would you do give them it?)

But then DSD said to DSS, save it till tomorrow as that's what we'd said to the others (bearing in mind they'd eaten already). Is that weird what DSS said? Is she trying to say it's fair? Wwyd???

Mellington - I think they're in a camp site / holiday park type thing.

Justoneme · 27/08/2017 23:11

The three bags of fish n chips are on the side ... DSS stated she will have hers tomorrow...

We are at a Haven campsite hence restaurant and chippy being so close ..

Don't understand about foxes and goats #stupid....

ShotsFired · 27/08/2017 23:14

Sure is "crazy"...

What if you take the hen over first. Can I bring the grain over second and the fox back third? And does it matter that the grain is not organic, the hen is free range and the fox is a vegetarian?

Member652554 · 27/08/2017 23:14

Goodness me , what a faff , what good is dry fish and chips tomorrow?

DuncanDonut · 27/08/2017 23:14

You're going to reheat fish and chips the next day? Bleurgh.

DamsonGin · 27/08/2017 23:15

Hmmm, fish supper breakfast.

Resurgam2016 · 27/08/2017 23:15

It's a logic problem. (Foxes grain goats). As is this ( fish chips curry sauce)

thecatfromjapan · 27/08/2017 23:15

OK, OP. I'm not going to take the rise out of you.

Your dilemma is unclear because wither there is more going on here than is expressed in your posts, or (equally possibly) a lot less.

More: You have issues with how your dsd (in particular) either a. relates to food or b. relates to you as the adult (ie. she insists on an overly authoritative role which she is not yet cognitively equipped to manage).

Less: Well, the answer is "Maybe". Sometimes it might be OK, sometimes it might not.

Hope your holiday is going well.

Foxes and goats and grain = perfect sense

Fish and chips = Confused

elephantoverthehill · 27/08/2017 23:15

Unless all the chips and mushy peas were consumed tonight, it sounds like bubble and squeak for breakfast. Do you have a can of corned beef to hand OP and half a dozen eggs to poach and slew over the top?

Ontopofthesunset · 27/08/2017 23:16

But why didn't the restaurant just bring the other meals? If I'm at a restaurant and only half our order arrives, we tell the waiter and then they bring the rest of it.

Hang on, why are there goats in boats? It's always been hens.

Are they an extra participant or some kind of locum animal now?

thecatfromjapan · 27/08/2017 23:16

For myself, I cannot, for the life of me, understand why I find this thread so compelling. I vowed I would leave it, yet I find I am still here ...

ShapelyBingoWing · 27/08/2017 23:16

This thread didn't need to be quite so complicated OP.

Saying no to a child having 'double tea' isn't unreasonable. Especially when neither tea is a salad.

Explain to your step daughter that it's not unfair for her brother to get something to eat despite her being told no to tea2. Also explain that she shouldn't try to convince people to skip meals.

DuncanDonut · 27/08/2017 23:17

If you've got a stock cube you could make some kind of soup. Maybe take the batter off though.

pinkingshears · 27/08/2017 23:17

Oh, my 12 yr old just explained this as
The Dog, the Weasel and the Weetabix Grin

but, then, he IS much cleverer than me!

AldiAisleOfCrap · 27/08/2017 23:17

Yabu to eat two portions of fish and chips each yes.
The other family members made the effort to eat the provided meals. They should not then suffer because you chose to quickly move on to other cuisine.

Ontheboardwalk · 27/08/2017 23:17

Day old fish and chips can't be nice.

Would you eat them cold or look to rewarm the fish in the microwave?? Imagine the smell in the caravan!

FredLovesWilma · 27/08/2017 23:19

Fair approach:

Six people but nine meals (six fish and chips and three restaurant).

Three ate in restaurant. Three ate fish and chips.

Three fish and chips are therefore spare and should be divided equally between the six people that eve. No reheating following day.

Not sure why you're so concerned with what dsd told dss tbh.

thecatfromjapan · 27/08/2017 23:19

DSS is a her?

OK, now I am confused.

So the child who didn't eat said she didn't want hers tonight but would have it tomorrow. Are you worried she isn't eating enough?

I thought DSS stood for Darling Step Son. What does DSD stand for?
