Fish N Chips

Okay ... crazy one for you ... currently on holiday with my DP my DC and three DSC

Tonight we ordered our meals at a restaurant on site.. my meal, my son and one of the step children meal arrived, the others didn't. So immediately we asked where the other meals where and the restaurant apologised and said they had forgotten. They offered us free fish and chips from the site chippy which we accepted.
While we were waiting for the chips my son and two of the step children went back to eat the food from the restaurant.

My other DSC went back in a bit after to eat half of "my" meal with his sister, but she'd eaten all the double cheeseburger and chips. Anyway got back to the caravan and DSS who had nothing to eat joined us and the 3 of us tucked into fish & chips. Then the others arrived back after eating their meals, and asked for their fish & chips as well?!?! (First question, what would you do give them it?)

But then DSD said to DSS, save it till tomorrow as that's what we'd said to the others (bearing in mind they'd eaten already). Is that weird what DSS said? Is she trying to say it's fair? Wwyd???

The dsd was supposed to share it with her brother so half a burger each. But by the time the brother arrived, she'd eaten the whole cheeseburger plus chips and 4 onion rings according to a later post. I am far too invested in this thread. It's better for my brain workout than sudoku Grin

thecatfromjapan · 29/08/2017 14:00

Really? I missed that bit. I thought it was OP's cheeseburger.

Ontheboardwalk · 29/08/2017 14:05

No Hope OP says they were expecting the other 3 meals and asked where they were. Only half the order was cooked and served not a substitute delivered. They didn't complete the original order, they had 'forgotten' half the order.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 29/08/2017 14:10

So I'm at the end and the only thing that has made sense is the grain the goats and the fox!

Happytobefree17 · 29/08/2017 14:14

thecat haha it's like one of those optical illusions - when you look directly at it it disappears!

But yes, it was the OP's cheeseburger to begin with but she gave it to her dsd and dss to share, and OP had fish and chips instead.

ShotsFired · 29/08/2017 14:51

@ZeroFuchsGiven So I'm at the end and the only thing that has made sense is the grain the goats and the fox!

Hate to disappoint, but I think we agreed that goats don't eat grain, so it was in fact a goat identifying as a chicken.

HopeontheHorizon · 29/08/2017 18:52

Boardwalk sorry you are right. I read this thread in stages as I was at work Blush

I forgot what the had happened by the time I'd posted not that I could follow it anyway

Ontheboardwalk · 29/08/2017 19:20

No worries Hope this thread makes no sense what so ever, I keep reading it and it makes me more confused. There's no where in real life that a restaurant would forget/cook half an order then run out completely of all food surely!??

I feel sorry for the people in the chippy, I really hope they aren't in there ordering now and trying to figure out who's allowed curry sauce or not!

DurhamDurham · 29/08/2017 19:24

I think YABU but that's just a guess as I have no way of knowing for sure.

VanillaSugar · 29/08/2017 19:28

Had the OP cancelled the cheque yet?

Zaphodsotherhead · 29/08/2017 19:35

My brain hurts.

Can you not just put all the fish and chips in one big bowl and split them between anybody who wants to dig in?

(Or take away the number you first thought of and the answer is 9, or something. The answer is always 9).

Justoneme · 29/08/2017 20:01

I think this is a fair view ... there has been some really helpful and interesting views too.

Really came on here for understanding ... and view points.

Justoneme · 29/08/2017 20:03

From my understanding the whole cheeseburger but shared the chips maybe?

OP posts:
raviolidreaming · 29/08/2017 20:03

Were all the original meals refunded?
Have the leftovers been eaten?

(Also ensure why I feel compelled to engage)

Justoneme · 29/08/2017 20:04

No... It wasn't shared because the others had their meals.

OP posts:
Justoneme · 29/08/2017 20:05

Full refund was given ... and no left overs were eaten.

OP posts:
raviolidreaming · 29/08/2017 20:15

Glad you got a full refund!

thecatfromjapan · 29/08/2017 20:16

I feel a bit guilty now. I thought you'd gone and it would be
OK to have a bit of a giggle.

Justone do you think SGB was near the mark?

If so, the fact that you are thinking about it all suggests that you should trust your instincts. And you have the majority of MN with you in not keeping the left-overs.

Genuinely - have a lovely holiday. Thanks

FineAsWeAre · 29/08/2017 21:52

I'm still confused. On the plus side though, I had fish and chips today at the seaside and they were delicious!

HopeontheHorizon · 29/08/2017 22:21

Hope you're enjoying the holiday OP.

It is a bit strange that anybody would suggest saving fish and chips for the family to share the next day Confused you were right to question this.

Having said that, this has got to be one of the most entertaining threads I have read in a loooong time. You've certainly brightened up MN Grin

Justoneme · 29/08/2017 22:36

Glad I have brought you all entertainment 😂

thecatfromjapan · 29/08/2017 22:49

You're lovely. Flowers

grandOlejukeofYork · 30/08/2017 00:25

So did you let them eat the fish and chips or not? Confused

Havingahorridtime · 30/08/2017 07:13

The unanswered question is why did you save the three leftover fish and chips? Why didn't you share them
Out between anyone who wanted some? Why did you feel the need to save them for he next day?
Every poster on here except yourself seems to agree that the fish and chips should have been shared out and eaten if anybody wanted them regardless of whether they had already had a meal or not.

Rationing left over food in the way you have and refusing to let children eat it because you think they shouldn't even though they are on holiday and it is a one off situation is likely to lead to food issues later in their life.
