To be horrified by the way some people talk to their kids

I know small children can be wearing. I know. But the way some people talk to their kids is so upsetting. At the farm and just passed a mother saying, very calmly and quite conversationally to her small daughter: "after your bath I don't want to see you for the rest of the day. I've had enough of your face today, ok?"
It chilled me to the bone. Such quiet contempt. That poor little girl. Why must people be so awful to their children
It's not that hard to be a grownup and remember to rise above is it? And not talk to your kids as if you dislike them?

Reported you for disablist language pallas

Decaffstilltastesweird · 27/08/2017 09:05

I have reported you too Pallas. That is a fucking disgusting, cunty word, only used by giant cunts.

Chamonix1 · 27/08/2017 09:30

I've said things like that to my daughter.
Usually after being spat at, kicked, punched and thrown a load of verbal abuse.
It's not okay and I do feel bad afterwards but at the time I've bloody meant it.
Sometimes when you see a snipit of parenting it can be easy to judge, someone would hear that and think "poor little girl" whilst when someone else just watched me calmly take the physical and verbal battering because she can't go on the pony ride again and thought "poor mother".
Swings and roundabouts.

MrsPringles · 27/08/2017 10:06

I overheard a dad of a little boy (who will be in the same nursery class as my little boy in sept so is 3)

Oi chav, get in the motor you little shit

So that's nice Hmm poor kid

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 27/08/2017 10:08

Parents who abuse their children verbally are dickheads. And yes, I'm judging you.

There we go. Now a correct statement. No need for vile, disablist language.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 27/08/2017 10:34

Indeed beingatwat.

See how easy it is to formulate a statement with out being disablist? Oh look, I just did it again! It's easy.

That (the word used by pallas) is one of the worst words bandied about. And the worst thing is that some people seem to use it as a 'polite' alternative to swearing. I would prefer strong swearing (as I tried to illustrate up thread). It's much less offensive.

Anyway, sorry for massive derail. That just gave me the absolute rage.

ImDoingLaundry · 27/08/2017 10:40

I have been known to open the fridge and mouth the words "FOR FUCKS SAKE" when my DS is acting particularly annoying. I would never swear at him though, or call him names. I do agree that there's a difference in telling older children that they're acting bratty as opposed to they are a brat.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 27/08/2017 10:43

I once heard this in Debenhams.
Mother screaming at daughter ages about 10:
"If you don't behave I'll sell you to a peadophile"
Daughter started to get very upset, and begged mother not to.
Mother replied 'stop whining, there's one outside, I'll take him straight to you"

😵😵😵😵😭

Decaffstilltastesweird · 27/08/2017 10:48

Wtf emoji? That is horrific.

RedBlackberries · 27/08/2017 10:49

Some of these are so awful I'm almost crying Sad.

Me and dh and our families are very sweary but would never name call a child however pissed off we were. My BIL once called dd a cunt (out of earshot) and even though he apologised I've never really forgiven him.

I reported that post too but it's still there i see.

HateSummer · 27/08/2017 11:01

I had my first full on scream at my kids 2 days ago. We've had a nice busy summer and have enjoyed lovely days out and pottering around at home. They've been desperate to watch pirates of the Caribbean, so I put it on and we sat and watched. 30 mins later I needed to go upstairs to order their uniforms and thought it would be nice and quiet for me to get it done. I'd been upstairs barely 1 min when they all come running upstairs screaming and giggling and jumping on my bed and jogging me when I was on the laptop. I lost it so badly and screamed at them to get out of my sight and I didn't want to see them again. Not my finest moment, but when I wanted some peace and quiet and they came running upstairs just because I'd left the room, it made me really angry.

I can imagine what anyone walking by wouldve thought as our windows were open too.

Alittlepotofrosie · 27/08/2017 15:48

What a massive overreaction @HateSummer.

You could have asked them nicely to go away. Would you like to be spoken to like that?

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 28/08/2017 12:18

Yeah, it was pretty horrific. I was just stunned by it. It was about 9 years ago, but it's still in my mind.

gandalf456 · 29/08/2017 21:07

Thatvwould have frustrated me too summer
