To have a 6:30am freestyle drumming party with three 6yos tomorrow morning?

My newish neighbour is having a party. He's met us and knows we have three small children. He's also met the other neighbour in our group of houses, an older lady.

The two other houses here are empty - both families on holiday.

The music is crazy loud, the kids are already going nuts with the lack of sleep and older lady neighbour has just been round asking for our help getting the noise down. Not off, I get that it's 11:30 on a saturday, just down.

So DH goes round, already to be civilised, and gets told to 'fuck off.' The music is now louder. They're screaming.

The police won't be interested, we're rural. Revenge is on my mind and his bedroom overlooks my back garden. I'm sure I can fashion drums out of various bits of the kitchen and shed.

Please do this!!! What a selfish man. Also keep a record somewhere in case it becomes a recurring problem. The police may not be interested in isolated events but if there is a pattern of antisocial behaviour they will surely get involved, especially as there are 2 separate homes affected ( yours and your elderly neighbour) s you can make complaints separately

If you do manage to get to sleep and therefore get up in the morning, aren't there a few DIY and gardening jobs you need to do? Strimming, drilling, kango hammering etc?

Go out in the morning leave your music on with the speakers right next to the wall (their bedroom). Only works with a semi or terrace, but he won't be making noise in s hurry.

Oh the kids will be up. They're like little alarm clocks. They're going to be horrific too.

Don't break or spoil any property, but do turn the loudspeakers to the wall on the upstairs bedrooms and go for it! However, it might turn into a loudspeaker war that you might not be able to win..

Are there PCSO in your area? I'd report to 101 anyway, so they can maybe issue a letter by post? Ask other neighbours to do the same and maybe it will hold?

Are these neighbours permanent? Or is the house rented for holidays? How old are they? Do you think they will leave for uni soon? Confused at someone deciding to go and live rurally and then party hard like that for days, unless it's rented. Probably more common that I think, just seems contradictory.

My old neighbour did this. May I recommend putting on repeat 'no limit ' a 90's classic which 6 years can join in with

Get on all of your social media and organise a breakfast BBQ. As many kids as you can lay your hands on and get everyone to bring something to eat.
And musical instruments.
Possibly animals.
Karaoke machine?

If it's a one off I would let it go. If it's a regular occurrence than yes drum practice at 6am is perfect

He's divorced, forty something. Uses the term 'gay' as an insult. Doesn't do up enough buttons on his shirt. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt because we get on fine with the other neighbours. But now I've realised he's a total knobber.

Couple of mates with new babies are up for an early breakfast. Sure at least one of them will manage a tantrum.

So far my plan is a Frozen theme dance party with ice cream for breakfast. Older lady neighbour has declined her invitation. She's off to church.

Drums alone is nowhere near exciting enough for sleep deprived children. I would suggest adding a bit of kareoke to the mix (why not enlist other neighbours and see who can do the loudest version of 'I will always love you' with a kettle drum beat). Or what about some outdoor opera appreciation? Why not make it a breakfast BBQ (strong smelling food only) just in case any of the revellers are feeling a bit queezy.

If the night owl neighbours complain don't forget to tell them not to be boring and ask if they were ever young and having fun.

Joking apart, I now what hell this is. If the house is rented is there any way you could find out the name of the landlord? We had some issues with tenants near us and it was a huge relief to me when I finally tracked down the landlord and he had a word with them.

I would call the police even if they don't do anything because then it will be recorded and you will start a paper trail if these parties become regular occurrences. (Also keep your own diary of all his anti-social behaviour, with times and dates. You can also download an app on your phone that calculates decibel levels; it might keep a record of them too).

Drumming sounds lovely: all the old pots and pans outside beside the fence with a variety of beaters. The children might enjoy beating their pans to an accompaniment of rock music. Or The Spice Girls.

Actually the noise has started to be interspersed with taxis beeping their horns (WTF?) so that might be a positive sign? Going to have another go at going to bed. I need to be up early in the morning
