My newish neighbour is having a party. He's met us and knows we have three small children. He's also met the other neighbour in our group of houses, an older lady.

The two other houses here are empty - both families on holiday.

The music is crazy loud, the kids are already going nuts with the lack of sleep and older lady neighbour has just been round asking for our help getting the noise down. Not off, I get that it's 11:30 on a saturday, just down.

So DH goes round, already to be civilised, and gets told to 'fuck off.' The music is now louder. They're screaming.

The police won't be interested, we're rural. Revenge is on my mind and his bedroom overlooks my back garden. I'm sure I can fashion drums out of various bits of the kitchen and shed.

AIBU? They certainly are Angry

taxis beeping their horns I thought this was illegal after 11.30pm?

Kids are up. I think 7am is an entirely reasonable time to play in the garden Grin

Do it! Make as much noise as you can and enjoy yourselves!!

Iamcheeseman · 20/08/2017 07:03

Pots and pans and wooden spoons make fantastic loud drums 😁

Bubblysqueak · 20/08/2017 07:03

Enjoy your party! I hope you have a trampoline.

DiabolicalCutlery · 20/08/2017 07:06

Do they have any recorders to go with the beating of drums?? Make a Sunday morning breakfast parade Smile

AztecHero · 20/08/2017 07:14

DO IT!!!!

Fitzsimmons · 20/08/2017 07:15

Ooh is it time for a MN party? I'll happily send my four year old round with his half sized guitar Grin

Shiraznowplease · 20/08/2017 07:16

Definitely do it, children on trampoline at 6 after sugar stopped my neighbour trimming hedges and lawns at stupid o clock all the time. As an added bonus we added in water guns so they could run around screaming.....

amousehaseatenmypaddlingpool · 20/08/2017 07:16

They're currently all sat round the patio table eating cereal. You know that alarm style clank of three breakfast bowls being rung like there's a fire? About eight yards from his bedroom window.

I've flung in a couple of 'not so loud darlings' just for sport. I am, of course, being ignored.

Diabolical s idea is brilliant .... nothing worse than recorder playing! It's a small world on loop will drive them insane too!

PoorYorick · 20/08/2017 07:19

Wooden spoon on a saucepan.

GinIsIn · 20/08/2017 07:19

Can any of your children sing, really badly? I think 7:30am is an excellent time for a karaoke competition......

doze931 · 20/08/2017 07:21

yup we do this too. Usually music on repeat and head out for the day. To make matters worse the neighbours have kids so dont know how they manage to sleep through it

Flanderspigeonmurderer · 20/08/2017 07:21

Can I suggest you play "everything is awesome" as high as you can and on repeat. And get the hosepipe out if you have one. Good luck!

Fairybella · 20/08/2017 07:22

Yes yes early morning water fight should start them shrieking

GinIsIn · 20/08/2017 07:25

Also, what time does your postman come on Saturdays? Because ours rocks up at 7 and hammers on the door like he's playing fucking whack-a-mole. I think a weekly postcard sent on a Friday would do the trick.....

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 20/08/2017 07:28

The police won't be interested, we're rural.

oh they will if you say you can hear screaming, and what sounds like fighting ...... remember that for next time.

The tennis is turning into a jousting competition Grin

Brilliant keep up the good work! Does the lawn need mowing?

Cupcakey · 20/08/2017 07:33

Grin love it!!!!
Have you any whistles/ flutes knocking about they always make a suitable high pitched ear shattering noise hee hee Grin

amousehaseatenmypaddlingpool · 20/08/2017 07:33

I think 'tennis racquet' on patio slabs and arguing is a good start. As soon as I see older lady neighbours curtains open I'll move into phase two.

DH is in charge of the mower. He thinks we shouldn't be doing this. But he's not actually stopping us Grin

CountryPlumpkin · 20/08/2017 07:33

Make sure you shout "keep the noise down darlings, remember the neighbours are sleeping" very loudly every so often Smile

amousehaseatenmypaddlingpool · 20/08/2017 07:34

Country, it's like you are here Grin
