How will Trump know what to do now Bannon has gone??

PerkingFaintly · 19/08/2017 00:25

Don't worry, he still got Stephen Miller to pull his strings whisper in his ear.

WestleyAndButtockUp · 19/08/2017 00:28

Trump will resign soon, says the ghostwriter of 'The Art of the Deal.' But he is not, as a headline says, the man 'who knows Trump the best'. He's been criticising Trump for ages; and the criticisms are extremely interesting.

cozietoesie · 19/08/2017 00:30

An interesting piece from Anderson Cooper. Worth watching.

PerkingFaintly · 19/08/2017 00:30

So, shall we open a book on who is going to play the victim of whom?

Because it's terribly important to that mob to have been victimised by Evil Forces. Whilst at the same time being all-powerful heroes who might choose to develop their wonderfulness elsewhere, but would never be ignominiously sacked, oh no.

PanicAtTheDisco2000 · 19/08/2017 00:33

Delurking. I've followed these threads from the start and they are my first port of call for anything Scrotus related, so thank you.

I also find that gin helps.

Thanks for the thread Flowers

Seb Gorka also on thin ice at White House, we are told by sources.

BrexitentialCrisis · 19/08/2017 00:36

Steven Miller and Seb Gorka give me the absolute chills- there is something deeply dark about both of them, in a 1930s Munich Beerhall way. They both have the same sneering pseudo-intellectual arrogance as they try to justify and normalise this administration as if we are total fools to have been ensnared by the mainstream media. Apparently Gorka's PhD isn't even from a credible university and a lot of the stuff he spouts on telly is just factually wrong. I'm sure they will be busy bending trump's ear in Bannon's absence though and that I itself is horrifying.

lionheart · 19/08/2017 00:44

'... in a 1930s Munich Beerhall way.' Yes, that's it and it is horrible.

Carl Icahn has now apparently gone ...

cozietoesie · 19/08/2017 01:01

I saw that Icahn had resigned. That's a biggie.

BBC world service Washington reporter just saying Bannon being on front of Time magazine as 'The Great Manipulator' didn't go down at all well with Trump.

They also just broadcast the cheering on Wall Street when Bannon departure was announced.

And ughhh re Miller and Gorka. Munich beerhall is right.

cozietoesie · 19/08/2017 01:12

I think I posted something along these lines many threads ago. Let's hope that Secretary Mattis has read something similar.

Why hasn't the doctor (Carson) resigned yet?

Thanks for the new thread Lion. That was quick! I've woken up this morning to news that Bannon has gone from the White House. For me, I don't think this lessens his influence over Trump at all. He is simply in another location, unfettered by WH rules. I see it as a token move on Trump's part to show his strategy isn't being visibly driven by the alt-right.

Hello everyone. Thanks for all the fascinating reads Smile
I think - and hope - that the writing's on the wall for Trump now. It's just a matter of time.
Will try to link to a thought-provoking interview with Senator Bob Corker, a respected and influential Republican;

abcnews.go.com/Politics/video/gop-senator-trump-demonstrated-stability-competence-49281352

Stephen Colbert and Anderson Cooper have done some compelling analyses too.

I think Trump's response to Charlottesville has fatally exposed him. His horrifying displays of naked fascism and temperamental unfitness, long accreting, have finally revealed themselves as fundamental betrayals of the ideals of the American nation and the dignity of the office of it's President.
His focus on General Robert E. Lee was very telling. He thinks the wrong side won in the American Civil War. And now nobody can doubt it. It is unsustainable to maintain as head of state and head of government, a President who, far from embodying the values which birthed the US, is offensively antagonistic to them.
I'm hoping he will be out of office by Christmas. Subsequent imprisonment is probably only a pipe dream.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 19/08/2017 03:18

I've been paying attention all along, since before Fartface was elected, and I'm beyond outraged. But I may not post much on it because it sends my BP rocketing every time I read too much about him.

This is a good response from Robert E. Lee's family - they do not support Fartface's or the neofascists' use of their ancestor's name, or what they stand for. washingtonjournal.com/2017/08/16/robert-e-lees-family-just-gave-unexpected-response-trumps-charlottesville-controversy/

It is, indeed. But even the Hydra was defeated in the end.

Thanks for the new thread, lion

saffronwblue · 19/08/2017 03:33

so much respect for Heather Heyer and her family.
I do think 45 has moved into a new phase where some Republicans will find it harder to support him.
@Natsku am watching the news from Turku with alarm.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 19/08/2017 03:57

I've just been reading about Stephen Bannon being removed from his post - Daily Heil FB page, with comments - many of which are just disgusting. I have to step away again - I just can't cope with the people who think 45 is in any way doing any kind of "good" job, or that his beliefs are decent ones. I'm just miserable at how many fuckheaded bigots and racists there are in the world.
