According to Breitbart (Google gist, I haven't clicked through), Bannon had a 5-hour meeting yesterday with Robert Mercer, the hedge-fund billionaire who funds it and funded the Trump campaign, about what to do next in their war against "globalists".

The Mercers make their money from international finance. Robert Mercer stated during the Iraq War that the US should simply have taken Iraq's oil. The Mercers gave unpaid (and apparently undeclared) assistance to the UK Leave.eu campaign. Robert's daughter Rebekah is married to a Frenchman and sends her children to the bilingual Ecole Internationale de New York.

I'm not sure who they mean by "globalists" they're "at war" with. Just people who aren't them, as far as I can see.

Morning all. Smile
So heartening to see new names popping up.

I just had to change mine. My old email broke!

Dragonflycushion · 19/08/2017 11:02

I'm not confident that I understand this in detail but in a way, isn't it better to have Trump than Pence, who would be more 'credible' and therefore more dangerous? Until they could both be ousted, I think Trump might be the lesser of 2 evils?

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 19/08/2017 11:06

daily what you said about being in a bubble really resonates. That's what's been eye opening about the last year and a half - just how much resentment and hatred has been there all along.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 19/08/2017 11:08

perking thanks, those are great articles!

OuaisMaisBon · 19/08/2017 11:16

lion, I'm a name change too as I got confused when I saw someone with a very similar name to my old one (Dumdedumdedum) posting - started wondering if I'd been drunk/sleepwalk posting till I realised they were missing an extra "de" before the "dum" at the end! Fekko, sorry, who were you before, if you don't mind saying?

lionheart · 19/08/2017 11:18

Dragon, I think you have a point but as reprehensible as I find Pence, Trump as Commander in Chief is beyond insane.

Dragon, I'm torn on that one, too.

As we keep reminding ourselves, the Aftermath is going to be just as important.

InigoTaran · 19/08/2017 11:24

Morning all and welcome all delurkers! Not checked Twitter yet, hoping for a more peaceful weekend...

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 19/08/2017 11:25

Yes it really is a rock and a hard place I think dragonfly.

Although with the whole credibility thing - even now, despite expressing concern and outrage at the defending of the nazis - the GOP are still with trump and have excused his racist, misogynistic, disabilist, homophobic, lying, nepotistic, corrupt, treasonous ways.

Which renders pence a bit obsolete until trump does something to completely alienate everyone/mueller concludes his investigation but both events do not seem to be probable in the immediate future.

And where we go from there will be anyone's guess but id wager it'd be a whole new shitshow

PerkingFaintly · 19/08/2017 11:27

More from the war against "globalists" by Americans Bannon and the Mercers:

"In 2014, Bannon launched Breitbart London, telling the New York Times it was specifically timed ahead of the UK’s forthcoming election. It was, he said, the latest front 'in our current cultural and political war'. France and Germany are next."

Firstly, thank you lion for another fine thread. They come along with monotonous regularity because it's never quiet on the Trumpfront.

Secondly, a big warm welcome to all delurkers, wish I could mention you all by name but I'm delighted that there's too many. Do keep posting, we're a community resisting.

There's a great CNN clip which I can't seem to link with one of their anchor reading all that Trump has done/not done recently. It's bad and she has to stop and drink a glass of water as there is so much.

Thank you to everyone who contributes on here, it's my go-to place when I want to know something and is a valuable source of knowledge.

Inigo I'll follow you on Twitter! You can follow me too but it is mostly Trump ramblings that I tweet! I resisted joining Twitter for a long long time but because of the Fat Orange One, I wanted to keep on top of the news and I joined to get instant updates of what's going on.

MsHooliesCardigan · 19/08/2017 12:14

I'm a mostly lurker but do post sometimes. It's great to see so many people de lurking.
These threads are really important to me and thank you to all the stalwarts who keep them going. It does feel like there's a sea change happening. Respect to Heather's mum for refusing to speak to Trump. I do believe his days are numbered. Peace to everyone x

ibbleobbleblackbubble · 19/08/2017 12:19

Can it really be true..... is it all finally Coming Undone??
I do hope so but what kind of Fire will follow this clusterfuck of a frying pan 🤤

Roussette · 19/08/2017 12:20

I'm interested on this Hope Hicks thing. She's taking on this huge job and I wonder how on earth she's going to cope. Sh's only 28, word has it, she's quite shy... can't imagine how this is going to work out. Will we be talking about the fifth Communications Director in no time?

Anyone else know much about her?

Roussette · 19/08/2017 12:25

On a lighter note... I am PMSL at the Trump insulter website!

I've just put my proper name in and this is what's come up.... (I'll call myself Jane Smith for privacy purposes)

"I hear that sleepy eyes Jane Smith will be fired log a dog!! I can't imagine what is taking so long!!"

and

"Irrelevant clown Jane Smith sweats and shakes nervously as they talk 'bull' about me. Has zero cred.'

ItWentDownMyHeartHole · 19/08/2017 12:26

Bannon leaving is tactical. He's gone back to his old business to rally the troops for Trump. It's frightening.

MissClimpsonsTypingBureau · 19/08/2017 12:31

Another lurker delurking.

It is all increasingly scary. Agree re. resignation followed by Pence being a bad outcome. Very bad. Bigly bad.

Resist!

ScrambledSmegs · 19/08/2017 12:33

I'm a fascinated/horrified lurker, thank you for these threads as they've helped me understand so much more of why this is happening than I did before (but still WTF?).

In very conspiracy theorist moments I've wondered whether this is all a Trading Places-style wager between Trump and Murdoch on whether Trump could destroy a leading world power in less than a year. And he's currently winning that bet Sad

OuaisMaisBon · 19/08/2017 12:41

This is what I got when I put the Donald's name into the insult generator: "Donald Trump is a dummy. Just look at Donald Trump's past."
Spot on, I thought!

ibbleobbleblackbubble · 19/08/2017 12:42

He wants to be out of the spotlight so that he can get things done behind the scenes
