Am I being totally PFB or is this impressive for a 4 yr old?

Dd finds my little electric, hand held fan earlier and is sad it's not working. I'm busy and say I'll sort it later. About 15mins later she strolls in with it working having found the batteries, dismantled the fan an put new ones in the right way. I was impressed but she's my only child and everything she does is amazing to me!! (She's only just 4 BTW)

What a little genius! Do report back on every single thing she does.

It is quite clever, but I'd be more concerned that she had access to batteries.

BlackberryLassi · 16/08/2017 21:06

They're under the sink. I'd no idea she knew that's where they were Blush

That is clever! She must be good with her hands.

Corneliussnitch · 16/08/2017 21:06

Very rude nk, I'd be pretty impressed if a 4 year old did that

Madeyemoodysmum · 16/08/2017 21:06

Mine won't do this now at 11 but cos they are bloody lazy not cos they can't.

Your dd sounds like a very bright young lady.

chips4teaplease · 16/08/2017 21:06

You need to make her aware of the dangers associated with batteries. She sounds bright enough to understand.

WhooooAmI24601 · 16/08/2017 21:06

I'm more concerned that you'd resort to calling someone a cunt because they were sarcastic. Bit of an overreaction.

Yep, it's a clever thing to do for a 4 year old though.

JemIsMyNameNooneElseIsTheSame · 16/08/2017 21:06

That escalated quickly!

HateSummer · 16/08/2017 21:07
Confused

Yes, my ds was 3 when he started doing that. He'd take batteries out of other things and put them in. My other 2 were around 3/4 too. It is quite clever, but more like they copy us and learn.

scaryclown · 16/08/2017 21:07

After being at uni with a girl who wanted to throw the hoover out for being broken when the bag was full, I think this is pretty good!!

DJBaggySmalls · 16/08/2017 21:07

Ask her how she know how to put the batteries in the right way round. It was either an accident, trial and error, or she looked at how they came out.
At that age, my PFB managed to work out how to use the video and taped Terminator. He used to get up every morning to watch it. I only found out when I went to use the tape...

Sirzy · 16/08/2017 21:07

I would be worried about any child that age having such easy access to batteries tbh

Nishky · 16/08/2017 21:08

I agree with Whooo. Apparently you want everyone to tell you how brilliant your daughter is and will not tolerate anything else.....

khajiit13 · 16/08/2017 21:08

Wow OP, How rude.

Please keep your batteries in a safer place in future

Heihei · 16/08/2017 21:08

I think that's pretty neat, but it's not exceptional. Good for her and all but a) I'm not sure batteries and kids mix and b) calling NK a cunt is a bit much.

BlackberryLassi · 16/08/2017 21:09

I didn't think to ask how she knew but I had told her about the + and _ simbils ages ago. I didn't think she'd taken it in!

Dina1234 · 16/08/2017 21:10

maybe this is something your should share with family rather than the internet? I'm sending that it's not getting the warmest reception.

didn't think to ask how she knew but I had told her about the + and _ simbils ages ago.

so you told her how to do it!

PollyFlint · 16/08/2017 21:11

I think it's pretty possible that the part about getting the batteries the right way round was more luck than judgement, but who knows? And either way, good on her for having the initiative/self-sufficiency to sort it all out for herself.

Although it does probably mean you now need to watch her like a hawk in case she also decides to start having a go at 'mending' things like laptops and tellies...

midnightflowers · 16/08/2017 21:11

Well that escalated quickly

WhooooAmI24601 · 16/08/2017 21:11

Though if we're going down the route of showing off about stuff our DCs can do, DS2 (6) today directed me from our house to Touchwood in Solihull (a good 30 minute drive). He reads maps for a laugh because he's slightly eccentric and was determined he knew the way so for a game I followed all of his directions. He got it spot on.

Future career as a Sat-Nav-Maker I reckon.

C0untDucku1a · 16/08/2017 21:11

Get a lock on the under sink cupboard too, assuming thats where you keep stuff like dishwasher tablets and cleaning fluids etc.
