Am I being totally PFB or is this impressive for a 4 yr old?

Dd finds my little electric, hand held fan earlier and is sad it's not working. I'm busy and say I'll sort it later. About 15mins later she strolls in with it working having found the batteries, dismantled the fan an put new ones in the right way. I was impressed but she's my only child and everything she does is amazing to me!! (She's only just 4 BTW)

but I had told her about the + and _ simbils ages ago

Yes it is impressive that she remembered, from ages ago that means she has a good memory.

BlackberryLassi · 16/08/2017 21:24

Thanks alpaca. I'll learn my lesson one day!!

Scaryclown you must have been at uni with my sister!

Mumof41987 · 16/08/2017 21:25

Simbils ? So she didn't get her brains from you .

Justgivemesomepeace · 16/08/2017 21:26

Seriously- someone asks whether we think her 4 yr old is bright and the thread ends up rattling on about access to poisons/bleach- can't you just answer the question without looking for something to pick at? My answer is I'm not sure because my 4 yr old does stuff like that and I don't really think about it.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/08/2017 21:29

What's the issue with batteries?Confused

OP, I love it when kids start doing things independently, especially when it's something so practical. It's amazing when you realise they've been absorbing things without you even realisingSmile

BlackberryLassi · 16/08/2017 21:29

I knew I'd spelt it wrong but it wouldn't auto correct so I had to leave it. I'm not a great speller.

Thanks dame it was a little proud moment.

TBD, there's a minority of MN that regardless what your kid managed to do and you even have the nerve to be proud, will tell you that their kid did it and better.

I generally like parents being proud of their children and when they learn something new it can be amazing.

Papafran · 16/08/2017 21:31

but I had told her about the + and _ simbils

Well, I am impressed. She has a mum with extremely dodgy spelling and a foul mouth, but she is able to change batteries already at age 4.

Isadora2007 · 16/08/2017 21:32

Simbils ? So she didn't get her brains from you

😂

Sorry. I have a four year old and I'm not impressed. He could easily change the batteries in most devices not requiring screwdriver...but would ask for the batteries.

He is PFourthChild and recently impressed us by reading pretty well. He just started school today so hasn't been taught to read at all but has figured it out. Thanks mainly to YouTube and minecraft and benign neglect... 👏🏻

CheshireChat · 16/08/2017 21:32

TBH, the TBD ended up being the unloved child between TBH and TBF.

Bambamrubblesmum · 16/08/2017 21:33

I get it OP. It's the fact she took in what you said and thought it through. She's obviously a good learner.

manglethedangle · 16/08/2017 21:33

scaryclown I think I had that housemate too!

Op, she sounds very resourceful.

Ginlovinglady · 16/08/2017 21:36

To be fair the first response was the response of a cunt

missmollyhadadolly · 16/08/2017 21:36

I missed OP's post, but I do think NK's comment was cunty. She gave her opinion and so did OP. All's fair.

thereallochnessmonster · 16/08/2017 21:37

Lol, hope you won't be teaching her how to spell!

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 16/08/2017 21:37

So it is clear that your DD picks up on things around the house very quickly. Best be mindful and make sure anything not meant for little hands is safely out of reach...

SpaghettiAndMeatballs · 16/08/2017 21:38

I think you might be underestimating how tech-savvy kids are these days - I'd expect either of mine to be able to do it too (3 and 6) - they know how to charge/unlock ipads, use a mouse, boot up the various consoles and get their games going (and that's memorisation for the 3 year old - he refuses to attempt to read) - you learn the stuff that's relevant to your interests.

StickThatInYourPipe · 16/08/2017 21:38

Really sorry all but can someone please tell me what pfb stands for? I feel like a total dumb twat every time I see it! - not new to here either Blush

Precious First Born

We have all been guilty with our first of being over cautious or precious with our first child is the rationale behind it

Ilovefraybentos · 16/08/2017 21:40

I don't mind being told she's average.

She's average.

YOU CUNT!

Confused
Nancy91 · 16/08/2017 21:40

I don't think any PFB bragging threads are ever going to go down well on AIBU.

AnneGrommit · 16/08/2017 21:41

Pretty fucking big.
