Am I being totally PFB or is this impressive for a 4 yr old?

Dd finds my little electric, hand held fan earlier and is sad it's not working. I'm busy and say I'll sort it later. About 15mins later she strolls in with it working having found the batteries, dismantled the fan an put new ones in the right way. I was impressed but she's my only child and everything she does is amazing to me!! (She's only just 4 BTW)

I think that it's the proactivity involved in the op's dd not waiting for Mum to do something, but using her initiative and doing it herself, that's almost more impressive than the actual replacing of the batteries, iyswim. The girl will go far!

Not particularly for the op, just for the record, it's symbols.

BlackberryLassi · 16/08/2017 22:34

Thanks donkey Grin and thanks everyone for the nicer responses even if they said I am being PFB!!

I don't think it's particularly unusual and I wouldn't apply to MENSA yet, but I think you're entitled to feel proud and happy about it. Posting on an internet forum about it and then calling a poster who posts a sarcastic response a 'cunt' is maybe a tad PFB (could also stand for pretty fucking bonkers).

AA batteries can be dangerous though - they contain acid and can leak. I got a burn on my finger from a leaking battery when I was a kid.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 16/08/2017 22:38

Gosh. Deletions are quick at the moment.

Plus two from the OP on their very first posts.

BlackberryLassi · 16/08/2017 22:41

piglet no idea what I've been deleted for on the second post Confused.

There's a function that allows you to name change on mn. No my first (or even 100th post)!!

Oh dear pretty extreme reaction I see OP. Perhaps next time you should indicate if only affirmative replies are sought.
I actually found your post incredibly boring and braggy which led to my replying sarcastically. Not very kind of me in retrospect but aibu is not usually reserved for kind posters.
Both bragging and sarcasm can both be used & also objected to by different posters. Swearing to the extent it gets deleted is definitely an over-reaction.

BlackberryLassi · 16/08/2017 22:45

aibu is not usually reserved for kind posters. not if you're anything to go by.

I think there's a world apart from someone saying 'nope not impressive you big PFB and the charming post you swooped in with.

JaniceBattersby · 16/08/2017 22:45

I am also unsure of why batteries are now so dangerous?

I'm sure your little girl is lovely OP. I'm not sure changing batteries at four is that exceptional but it's nice that she knows you're proud of her. It will be really good for her self-esteem. I praise mine for lots of little things because they don't half her a bollocking for all the bloody fighting they do Grin. Swings and roundabouts.

notevernotnevernotnohow · 16/08/2017 22:46

They very rarely do leak though, they are much safer than they used to be. If you're leaving old leaky batteries lying around, that may be a bit daft, but regular batteries? Not dangerous.

sororitynoise · 16/08/2017 22:51

You were deleted on the second post for calling someone a cunt, OP.

BlackberryLassi · 16/08/2017 22:53

Haha, yes I know that but another post was deleted as well.

Ssh! Don't tell everyone Grin

NK493efc93X1277dd3d6d4 · 16/08/2017 22:56

Ok OP but when you read my post did you for a minute question why some random poster didn't immediately share in your awe & surprise?

BlackberryLassi · 16/08/2017 22:58

Not at all. I was ready for gently mocking 'you silly PFB, I was like that once' type answers. Yes AIBU, nest if vipers etc....

Fully aware of that, I've been here for many years.

Boasting about you PFB seems an odd thing to NC for imo.

missmollyhadadolly · 16/08/2017 23:00

Maybe she would have questioned it NK, if you hadn't been sarcastic and nasty.

NK493efc93X1277dd3d6d4 · 16/08/2017 23:01

Note to self to put gently mocking hat on before posting on boasting threads.

BlackberryLassi · 16/08/2017 23:02

Urgh, note to self: don't engage with goady fuckery and go to bed!

This is actually outrageous - is this really AIBU? It's like a thread in a parallel universe!

NK493efc93X1277dd3d6d4 · 16/08/2017 23:04

snowflakes anonymous

Lelloteddy · 16/08/2017 23:05

NK if the cap fits, then you really should wear it.

OP ignore the twats. They seem to have multiplied on MN in recent years.
I wonder how I've managed to safely raise my kids to near adulthood, having never felt the need to lock the triple aaa's in a fortified cupboard. It's ace when they learn and do new stuff Smile

DonkeyOil · 16/08/2017 23:06

I think the op was being sarcastic. We all know everyone knows!

SolomanDaisy · 16/08/2017 23:06

I think posters are confusing button batteries (easy to swallow and potentially fatal if swallowed), with standard AA batteries. Also, some posters are just on MN to express their general misanthropy. I blame the daily Mail.

addittothelist · 16/08/2017 23:08

It's nice.

It's not impressive.

But it's nice.

She sounds nice.

It's all good.

Heygirlheyboy · 16/08/2017 23:08

My ds could do this at 3.5, Id showed him how though so wasn't blown away by it. but now I'm going to bed feeling very smug indeed
