My mum and dad's exact ages when they had me. They're 84 and 89 now, never thought anything of it when I was young, although they were maybe a bit old fashioned compared to others.

SpiritedLondon · 26/07/2017 23:17

I was 41 ( nearly 42)when I had my DD5. I was referred to the consultant because of my great age and he couldn't have been less interested.( " why are you here?) Mothers in their 40's are ten a penny nowadays let alone their 30's.

Ankleswingers · 26/07/2017 23:17

My first thought was....

Couldn't care less. Fuck all to do with me.

Confused
Doobydoo · 26/07/2017 23:18

Me .....and DP

kittytom · 26/07/2017 23:18

I thought, same age as me and DH -whom I am badgering for a third

Mum2OneTeen · 26/07/2017 23:19

DP was 49 & I was 40 when we had our much loved better-late-than-never first & only DD. Absolutely the best thing I've ever done, was so tired at first but that's par for the course.

PeppaTheFirst · 26/07/2017 23:20

First thought - congratulations!

Dorissey · 26/07/2017 23:20

My mum was 39 and my dad was 52 when I was born.
I was 41 when I had my last DC, my friend had her 3rd at 43.

HemanOrSheRa · 26/07/2017 23:21

My mum was 41 and dad 44 when I was born an only child. Great parents. Dad lived to 78 and mum to 87. I had a wonderful childhood. That is lovely buttercup Smile.

Ive seen 50 and not batted an eyelid but secretly wondered where they where going to find the energy 39 is nothing these days.

LondonSouth28 · 26/07/2017 23:24

Me 38 and DH 45. Number 3 due November. Have a 2.5 DS and 1.5 DD.

JaneEyre70 · 26/07/2017 23:25

Brave!! I'm a grandmother to 3 at 46, and although I love them to bits, I'm very glad to hand them back again. I love that ours are all almost grown now, although 2 still at home and evenings/weekends/holidays are so much more civilised.

sadeyedladyofthelowlands63 · 26/07/2017 23:25

Same age as my parents when they had my youngest sister. They are all still here (and we still annoy my sister by persistently referring to her as the baby, even though she is in her forties now),

StrandedStarfish · 26/07/2017 23:28

In my line of work, I have seen
Mother 24, Father 70
Mother 45, Father 20
Mother 49, Father 76 (first child for both)

No one turned a hair. It's not an issue. What matters is that the child is loved

Theycalledmethewildrose · 26/07/2017 23:34

Normal.

HeartburnCentral · 26/07/2017 23:35

I'm too busy worrying about my own pregnancy to care about how old other parents are. It's normal enough nowadays imo.

ophiotaurus · 26/07/2017 23:36

Fine

ssd · 26/07/2017 23:36

this was the age my parents had me

now my kids have no grandparents and that breaks my heart

my dad died when ds1 was a baby

my parents were always much older than my friends parents, am constantly amazed people my age have parents alive, its just that mine would be so old now.....I had uncles and aunts who died in the 40's and 50's...before I was born

I'm glad I was born, obviously, but having much older parents has its drawbacks

ssd · 26/07/2017 23:37

so saying that, these days its nothing

Jakadaal · 26/07/2017 23:47

40 and 40 the ages of DH and I when we adopted dcs 2.5 and 1.5 years. First time parents - we felt out of our depth!

Goodythreeshoes · 26/07/2017 23:49

First thought would be - Congratulations!

leghoul · 26/07/2017 23:52

Normal

TheSeaTheSkyTheSeaTheSkyyyyyy · 26/07/2017 23:52

Not particularly unusual. I wouldn't want to have another at 39 myself but have no strong feelings about other women doing so.

Lynnm63 · 26/07/2017 23:59

Normal, I had my twins at 40.
