probably the age most of my friends were when they had their last.

ScrommidgeClaryAndSpunt · 26/07/2017 22:43

If it helps - DW and I are 39 and 41 respectively and our DTSs were born in April.

Oddly we feel less knackered this time than we did with DS1, who was born when we were 27 and 29.

Better living situation this time round, though.

Fruitcorner123 · 26/07/2017 22:43

Slightly older than normal
Not sure if that's even true for child number 3

MrsPorth · 26/07/2017 22:47

I thought that your title must have contained a typo and mum was actually 49 - or maybe dad was 24 and it was going to be an age gap question. As it stands it's unremarkable. Good luck ttc.

MammaTJ · 26/07/2017 22:47

I'd think we have a lot in common. I was 39 when I had #3. DP was 44.

DS is nearly 11 now, I am nearly 50. Knackered, but coping, which I think is true of most parents, whatever their age.

Crumbs1 · 26/07/2017 22:48

We had our 6th at 37 and 38 - it's never been an issue. We had friends who were older parents and friends who were younger but mainly age was irrelevant.

LittleCandle · 26/07/2017 22:48

DM was 37 and DF was 33 when I was born. Its not a big deal at all. Frankly, unless you are someone who has had medical intervention to have a child at 60+, I really couldn't care less how old a baby's parents are.

busyboysmum · 26/07/2017 22:48

We had our 3rd when we were both 42. Nothing unusual about it at all. Enjoy.

spiderbabymum · 26/07/2017 22:49

First thought : Why are you asking ?

It's not unusual

STRONGandSTABLE · 26/07/2017 22:50

Me 42, DH 44 when our DC3 was born.

Why are you asking? As long as you expect to be fit and well in your mid sixties you'll be up to it.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 26/07/2017 22:54

Absolutely normal. I'm now 42 & friends my age have been having babies for 26 years now. Actually, I'd say more have had babies since the age of 35 than had them before the age of 30.

My best friend is expecting #3 at the age of 42. Her DH is 45.

TFPsa · 26/07/2017 22:55

Considerably older than average but nothing at all to, y'know, get excited about.

Rufus27 · 26/07/2017 22:55

It's not unusual. Became a first time mum at 45. Pros and cons, but we would not change a thing.

deliverdaniel · 26/07/2017 22:57

youngsters! (I am 43 and pg w my 3rd.) go for it!

SleepFreeZone · 26/07/2017 22:57

Wouldn't think a thing about it.

Outnotdown · 26/07/2017 22:57

I was 39 and dh 44 when I had my third pregnancy, already had two sons aged 4 and 2. I had twins, boy and girl, who are 2 now. We are constantly shattered, but don't think our age makes much difference. Wouldn't change it, anyway. (Although I'd love a decent nights sleep)

LovelyBath77 · 26/07/2017 22:57

I know someone just had first at 43 and second at 45. Both were egg donation though. My granny was 41, my mum was a surprise and think it was 'shameful' then (72 years ago, though) but not today

StarHeartDiamond · 26/07/2017 22:58

Nothing to see here, what's the issue? Confused

joangray38 · 26/07/2017 23:01

Congratulations . My aunt had a baby at 48 so don't see a problem with older parents.

IloveBanff · 26/07/2017 23:02

My mother was 33 and my father was 44 when I was born (only child) and I was 37 and my husband 44 when our daughter was born (only child) so it seems normal to me.

Epipgab · 26/07/2017 23:03

Normal

WannaBeDelgadaToFitInToMyPrada · 26/07/2017 23:04

Not shocked.

I saw a woman today with two children, 3 and a baby, and she was in her late fifties and the little girl kept calling her Mummy. I was listening to see if I'd misheard, was it Nanny, Granny, Emmy, but no 'mummy'. I have to admit I wondered what the story was Blush

buttercup54321 · 26/07/2017 23:04

My mum was 41 and dad 44 when I was born an only child. Great parents. Dad lived to 78 and mum to 87. I had a wonderful childhood.
