I've just had my hair done, hair extensions at the hairdressers, altogether £410 and I didn't tip.
Should I of ?
I'm moving in the next few weeks and as its a council house I need to buy all new carpets as its basically a empty shell so i need every penny I can get really.
Do you tip?
And if so how much?

I didn't think about that

Used to tip when I was working. Been with same hairdresser for last 20 years. When I took early retirement recently have had to live on about 1/3 of what we used to so have cut out tipping and go once every 8 weeks instead of every 6. I still feel mean every time I pay but I've just had to man up and get over it.

DonttouchthatLarry · 21/07/2017 18:27

Yes I do tip because my hairdresser drives 20 mins each way to my house and charges me £22 for my colour and cut and my husband's cut (runs the clippers over his head, nothing time consuming Wink ). I used to give her £25 but have now rounded it up to £30.

If I had to pay ridiculous salon prices I wouldn't tip.

A salon owner local to us pays the lad who valets our cars once in a blue moon over £200 EVERY month to do his cars. He certainly doesn't survive on tips Grin

Lilmisskittykat · 21/07/2017 18:27

Don't think your mean five quid tip will go far to buy anything for your house to be honest so you should have just handed it over at the time

Wouldn't bother with the insult.

Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 18:29

Think il drop some milk tray in instead then they can share them

Give it a break FanjoForTheMammaries Grin, it's obvious the OP is bored!

Brittbugs80 · 21/07/2017 18:40

Having a council house doesnt mean you have to account to everyone for every penny you spend

You're absolutely right it doesn't. It's the same with people on benefits, they can spend it on what they choose.

However, when you have been offered a council house and are worried about carpeting it at a cost of £700 then spend £410 on hair extensions, to then worry about not tipping because the tip money could have been used to buy something for the house.

Just seems like the most important things are not being dealt with first.

honeylulu · 21/07/2017 18:40

My hair looks like that naturally. Just saying.
You could, you know, just ... grow it!

Aeroflotgirl · 21/07/2017 18:43

Exactly, op says she needs any penny she can get, and then splashes £400 on hair extensions, Crazy really, and I am usually a spender.

SerfTerf · 21/07/2017 18:44

@FanjoForTheMammaries if you're pro welfare state and social housing, it pays to be in the look out for fibbers who would discredit the system given half a chance Wink

Housewife2010 · 21/07/2017 18:48

If I could afford £410 on my hair, I would look at saving to buy a house.

Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 18:49

I wish I could just grow my hair ...

Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 18:51

If you actually read my thread I said I wanted to pay for the carpets myself and not ask my partner as he ears more than me and I hate asking him for money.
I had already booked my hair apt and paid £100 deposit before I even knew I had been successful at securing the house.
If I didn't turn up I would of lost £100

OP posts:
Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 18:52

I had practically no hair left and wanted to feel good about myself ..you think I had commited murder.

OP posts:
Witsender · 21/07/2017 18:52

But you would have saved £310.

Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 18:53

Serf-what are you talking about fibbers who discredit the system ?
Bloody hell when I sign my tenancy shall I send you a copy just a prove I'm telling the truth
Ridiculous

Oysterbabe · 21/07/2017 18:53

I don't tip and don't feel bad about it. I don't know who came up with the rules regarding which people you tip but I'll tip if I want to not out of a sense of obligation.

Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 18:53

And wasted £100 on nothing
At least I have something to show for it now plus I feel better now.

Yogagirl123 · 21/07/2017 18:55

Always tip my hairdresser.

bimbobaggins · 21/07/2017 18:56

You said you can afford the carpets " you just didn't want to fork out for them"

mummyrabbitpeppapig · 21/07/2017 18:57

I just take a bottle of wine or chocs at Christmas

Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 18:58

I can afford the carpets..I've never said I can't.
I said I didn't want to pay more money than I needed too when I had something else that needed my money

OP posts:
Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 18:58

I think most people if they had a choice would rather treat themselves than buy carpets/furniture or whatever

OP posts:
Witsender · 21/07/2017 18:59

Ha, really?
