I've just had my hair done, hair extensions at the hairdressers, altogether £410 and I didn't tip.
Should I of ?
I'm moving in the next few weeks and as its a council house I need to buy all new carpets as its basically a empty shell so i need every penny I can get really.
Do you tip?
And if so how much?

I got the ultra tips which are lightweight
I was told they would stop damage to already weak hair

If you genuinely feel bad, go back and tip. I always tip 10-15%, rounded up to the nearest paper note and, on the odd occasion that I have forgotten, I pop back later to say thank you.
This isn't an actual problem.

Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 17:31

Well how about you toddle off and give your constructive feedback elsewhere Smile

I think I might just pop in and say I was rushing I totally forgot and hand over £5

Now, now. Temper! Grin

If I'm at the hairdresser and there is an apprentice / weekend girl that washes my hair then I'll give her a fiver.

bimbobaggins · 21/07/2017 17:33

Most people have clearly explained what they think. If you "need every penny you can get " then that includes not spending over 400 at the hairdressers. It's not exactly rocket science. When I needed every penny it usually meant being able to afford to eat or get to my work or pay my bills.
Just because you've had unkind comments on an Internet forum don't pull out the bullying card.

The comments are nothing to do with tipping

A 1.22% tip (which is what £5 is) would be close to an insult.

Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 17:36

10% would be £40 and that's a lot

You believed the sales hype then, didn't you?

LadyinCement · 21/07/2017 17:36

But you put "council house" in your op!

Also I didn't realise that all those who buy a house get free carpets...

Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 17:36

I'm hoping they do help ...
Fingers crossed

Well hair extensions are literally other (poor and exploited) people's hair and then they take hours to install so £410 isn't too outhere in cost.

KitKat1985 · 21/07/2017 17:37

I normally round up to the nearest round figure. But then my haircuts are usually only about £22/23 so I normally just give them £25 and tell them to keep the change.

I'm a bit gobsmacked to be honest that you say you need 'every penny you can get' but just spent £410 on your hair. But no, at that price I wouldn't tip either. They've probably made at least £200 in profit.

Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 17:37

Private renting you do get flooring ..

OP posts:
Redglitter · 21/07/2017 17:37

Nope I pay what they charge. They're making plenty money on their costs alone. Despite never tiping I've never had a problem popping in if I'm passing to get my fringe done either

user1492692527 · 21/07/2017 17:37

My extensions cost £270, girl works from home and is really good. But I was quoted £1200 (I said no chance..)

And no I don't tip.

Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 17:38

What I meant by that was it was already a lot and that a tip could go towards other things that I need to buy.

Ashkey234 · 21/07/2017 17:39

User-what kind of extensions do you get?
Did they do any damage ?

OP posts:
lostpigeon · 21/07/2017 17:39

do people actually believe the OP?

ProudBadMum · 21/07/2017 17:40

I know a lot of people who have hair extensions due to weak or thin hair. Some do it while their hairs grows.

A friend makes £250 profit. But it is 6 hours playing with someone's hair. Not enough money in the world for me to do thatGrin

Craigie · 21/07/2017 17:43

I always tip the girl who washes my hair and the hairdresser, but wouldn't tip the owner of the salon.

Papergirl1968 · 21/07/2017 17:43

To tip or not to tip, that is the question?
I was at the hairdressers earlier this week and a dry cut was £17.50, so I gave the stylist, who is an employee not the owner, £20 and told her to keep the change. That's fairly generous for me as sometimes I might only have £1 or £1.50 on me. And when highlights is £65 or do, I don't give £6.50. Maybe £4 or £5.
The woman in front though was charged the same and told the stylist to take £18 off her card, so the grand total of 50p!
I don't tip at the beauticians though, and not sure why. Maybe it's because it's the owner that I have, not an employee...
