I've just had my hair done, hair extensions at the hairdressers, altogether £410 and I didn't tip.
Should I of ?
I'm moving in the next few weeks and as its a council house I need to buy all new carpets as its basically a empty shell so i need every penny I can get really.
Do you tip?

Can someone explain council housing to me????
My daughter and her boyfriend are both madly saving up for a house as I thought they would never qualify for a council house. Why would they, they are both working in reasonably paid jobs and don't have children or any disabilities.

Can you really just apply for a council house I thought they were for the poor and needy?

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 21/07/2017 17:48

Nope pigeon not one bit.

ProudBadMum · 21/07/2017 17:49

Anyone here can go on a waiting list but you could be waiting 10 year before you get one if childfree and getting a decent income

guiltybystander · 21/07/2017 17:49

I am vehemently against tipping. Should be banned.
In certain professions it is customary to tip e.g. hairdresser,, beautician, taxi driver, waiter, bellboy etc. But if you frequently use these people's services, then all the tips add up and you'll end up losing a considerable amount of your hard-earned money.

They are for anyone who needs a home.

Anyone can apply but whether you get enough points to actually be offered one depends on your circumstances and how many available properties there are. And no, income is not considered when allocating properties, merely need.

However I cannot line up desperately needing to save money in order to carpet a house whilst spunking £400+ on getting you hair done. Totally fucked up priorities.

Aeroflotgirl · 21/07/2017 17:51

No your fine, they increased their prices. Gosh, £410 for extensions when you need new carpets, prioritise!

Attention seeking at its finest. Why did you even mention your situation? ConfusedConfused

treaclesoda · 21/07/2017 17:54

My hairdresser doesn't accept tips. She just outright refuses. It is bliss because it does away with all the awkwardness.

AtHomeDadGlos · 21/07/2017 17:56

£410 for that?

Confused
treaclesoda · 21/07/2017 17:59

I usually read the whole thread before posting. But on this occasion I didn't. I really wish I had now Blush

Ceebs85 · 21/07/2017 18:04

Goady or what?!

poweredbybread · 21/07/2017 18:07

Yes always

BingoFlamingos · 21/07/2017 18:07

@fairyliz I don't know clearly it must be dependent on area, because i was made redundant in may, (currently doing casual Bank shifts but these are going soon) my dp is on a really low income 12k/year and I'm pregnant and we are soon to be homeless and I'm not able to qualify for council? I mean we will get by, and are off to stay with my fm if I can't secure more shifts but clearly It's a postcode lottery!

strawberrypenguin · 21/07/2017 18:09

No I don't. Hairdressers are expensive enough round here as it is. I'm Shock at how you could spend £400 on hair though!

DarklyDreamingDexter · 21/07/2017 18:09

I tip 10% if it's just a girl/lad who works there, but I usually get my hair cut by the salon owner, so no in her case. Only pay £40 for cut and blow dry...some of the prices mentioned on this thread are eye watering!

Brittbugs80 · 21/07/2017 18:09

What I meant by that was it was already a lot and that a tip could go towards other things that I need to buy

Imagine the stuff you could have bought with £410.00

BingoFlamingos · 21/07/2017 18:14

By the way op, I was always brought up to tip, but if I can't afford to I'll take in a box of malteasers or a bunch of Daffs as they're only a pound and I think nice gesture :)

Brittbugs80 · 21/07/2017 18:14

I pay £55 every six weeks, DH is £20 every 6 weeks and DS £15 every 3 months. We all go to the same hairdressers so it costs us about £600 a year. We have the same hairdressers and tip her £50 plus a plant at Christmas and take biscuits in for the whole salon staff at Christmas.

Tapandgo · 21/07/2017 18:16

My hairdresser has tip boxes on the counter with each hairdressers name on.
(I've always tipped, but I hate the whole tipping thing)
