Apparently the whole country is waiting to celebrate her birthday (according to ITV)
Well Dh certainly isn't!
He was a big fan when he was a lad, and went to see her in a pantomime.
Waiting at the stage door after the show for an autograph with other star struck youngsters, she came out and told them all to Piss Off and clear off home Shock
He said she was the most horrible, rude person and that he never watched her in anything again.
Which celebs have you met that didn't match up to the pedestal you had them on?

Gordon Ramsey was absolutely lovely and not at all like he is on TV. The guy who played Lofty in Eastenders came to a day centre that I worked at and was really grumpy and acted like he didn't want to be there. Also David Cameron was really fake.

HunterofStars · 14/07/2017 20:14

My mum met Robert Hardy aka Cornelius Fudge and said he was lovely. He even signed a programme for her to give to me. Lovely man.

Patriciathestripper1 · 14/07/2017 20:14

Was once on that's life with Esther Rantzen
She was right up her own arse.
Horrible to everyone and kept saying to the camera man "can you see enough leg and cleavage?"

Yeah, I've heard from a few people that Suzi Quatro is really nasty.

OftheUppahUplands · 14/07/2017 20:16

I was behind Jimmy Carr in the queue in Starbucks years back, when he sneezed. I said "Bless you" and he turned around, shot me s filthy look, and snapped - "don't worry, you won't catch anything" I don't know if he thought he was being funny, but I'd been being polite. I really dislike him

Monkeypuzzle32 · 14/07/2017 20:17

These stories are why you should never meet your heroes I guess! Although I have, and thankfully he has always been lovely (Adam Ant)

I'm gutted about Peter Kay though-he is my favourite comedian!

Some I've met that have been lovely are;

Rod Stewart-very tolerant of fans
Paul Daniels & Debbie McGee-as everyone else said-nice & kind
Victoria Beckham-up herself unsurprisingly
Mel C-reserved but friendly
Prince Edward-lovely and chatty-very observant

Im trying to think of more!

QueenArseClangers · 14/07/2017 20:18

I've bumped into Helen Flanagan (Rosie Webster from Corrie and tabloid darling) quiya few times in our village.
She's always been absolutely lovely. Last time was in our local cafe and she asked the staff for a dustpan to sweep up the crumbs her gorgeous toddler daughter had made.
Had a nice chat about children, breastfeeding and parenting. Seems a really kind, sweet woman.

ThymeLord · 14/07/2017 20:19

My ex SIL met Norman Reedus last year. She was heavily pregnant at the time and he gave her his bottle of water, it was ahot day, and chatted to her about the baby and wished her luck. Nice unassuming guy apparently.

JustadaftProfessor · 14/07/2017 20:21

These stories are why you should never meet your heroes I guess!

Unless they are Zoe Ball, Paul Daniels, Bob Hoskins or Rod Stewart.

Bejazzled · 14/07/2017 20:22

Prince Edward and Prince Phillip - both charming and actually really funny in a dry but twinkly way

Ally McCoist sent my db a 50th birthday card with some nice shared memories in it (I wrote to him just on the off chance he would reply) from when they had been at school together back in their misspent youths.

mymatemax · 14/07/2017 20:24

Bill Nighey lovely man, complete gentleman.
Ed Sheeran. Lovely, down to earth and friendly.
Morecambe & wise lovely
Several premier/England footballers all lovely normal blokes

VladmirsPoutine · 14/07/2017 20:24

When Peter Capaldi was in his Malcolm Tucker days he was lovely, he did a little shouting act with my friend and her then boyfriend. And was happy to laugh about it. I reckon he's still lovely.

Rihanna was just a gem - was happy to stick around for a bit doing selfies with fans.

Victoria Beckham wasn't always the most fan-friendly but I suppose you can't put on the act 24/7. So that's fine. Her kids are largely the way they are as there's some sort of 'family rule book' but I won't say anymore than that.

LadyFairfaxSake · 14/07/2017 20:25

Has anyone met John Mcguinness or Guy Martin? I really hope they're as cool as they seem...

mymatemax · 14/07/2017 20:25

Oh & Camilla, really really nice, friendly & didn't want a fuss & very funny

exWifebeginsat40 · 14/07/2017 20:25

Lulu is a fucking prick.

MrsJAMMFraser · 14/07/2017 20:26

I asked Barbara Windsor for her autograph about 30 years ago. I was 6 and shy; it took a lot of courage, but she'd been in Chittty Chitty Bang Bang, my favourite film.

She turned round to look at me holding my pen and paper, then looked away and stalked off. I've disliked her ever since.

hollieberrie · 14/07/2017 20:26

I've met Jedward (woo!) and they were absolutely lovely, really friendly and funny, cracking jokes and happy to be in photos.

Robbie Williams back in the day, very grumpy.

spiderlight · 14/07/2017 20:27

Not personal experience. but friends of my parents when I was growing up had a daughter with learning difficulties who was obsessed with Cliff Richard. She and her mum wrote to him a few times asking for signed photos etc. and he sent her stuff for years - every year she'd get a long chatty letter and a card from him on her birthday and every now and again a signed poster or a little random souvenir would turn up in the post for her. She had a huge collection the last time I saw her and it was her pride and joy - she used to tell everyone he was her pen-pal. It made such a difference to her life: she grew up in the 60s and 70s when people with learning disabilities were very much misunderstood and hidden away, so she was very sheltered, but she used to light up when she was showing us her collection.

Saw Sue Pollard in a pub in Newcastle and she acted like she owned the place. . .

Not the experience I had, she was the loveliest most down to earth celeb I have ever met. The next time I met her two years later she remembered my and asked after my DD. Not once did she turn the conversation back on to herself.

NancyDonahue · 14/07/2017 20:32

Jimmy Carr always says at his gigs that he will be in the bar afterwards sign autographs etc. We've always had to run for the train but friends said he's true to his word and doesn't leave until everyone has seen him.

krustykittens · 14/07/2017 20:33

I interviewed Laurence Llwellyn Bowen as a junior reporter for a national newspaper, I was really bloody nervous and asking cliched questions and he was so polite and charming he made me feel like I could win the Pulitzer! Lemmie from Motorhead, always a gentleman, Terry Pratchett, the author, a lovely kind man who always had time for fans, ditto the author Eoin Colfer. Eddie Kidd the stuntman, was very nice to me when I practically rugby tackled him at a petrol station when I was 12. Dara O'Brian, funny and charming. Bod Geldof, moody and up himself, John Cleese, TOTAL arse!

Ironmanrocks · 14/07/2017 20:33

Ian McKellan is a gentleman.

Edward Fox is a gentleman.

James Fox is the rudest, nastiest man I have met.

Bradley Walsh is lovely. I was new at work and he marched straight up to me and introduced himself, asked my name and then never forgot it. ❤️ I have a proper soft spot for him now.

The bluetones are lovely.

Pui Fan Lee is lovely too.

Ah I do like lovely people.

AprilLudgate30 · 14/07/2017 20:33

I've met quite a few celebrities through work and the nicest ones were Paul Heaton (of Beautiful South) and Matthew Perry - Matthew Perry was very kind actually, I was feeling quite poorly and he got me a drink of water and was just generally nice!

GiGiraffe · 14/07/2017 20:33

My DB used to work at the Beeb at he said that Zoe Ball was absolutely lovely. My good friend sat next to Billy Connelly on a overnight flight back from NY a couple of weeks ago and said he was brilliant fun and they spent most of the night chatting and laughing.
