Apparently the whole country is waiting to celebrate her birthday (according to ITV)
Well Dh certainly isn't!
He was a big fan when he was a lad, and went to see her in a pantomime.
Waiting at the stage door after the show for an autograph with other star struck youngsters, she came out and told them all to Piss Off and clear off home Shock
He said she was the most horrible, rude person and that he never watched her in anything again.
Which celebs have you met that didn't match up to the pedestal you had them on?

krustykittens · 14/07/2017 20:33

spiderlight that is such a lovey story!

PuppyMonkey · 14/07/2017 20:34

Well I for one find the idea of Ronnie Corbett screaming and being a right diva quite amusing. Grin

MikeUniformMike · 14/07/2017 20:35

I have it on good authority that:
Dawn French is a "don't you know who I am?" type, Anthea Turner is up herself, and Angelina Jolie is lovely and "normal", Michael Parkinson and Jeremy Clarkson have a tv personality that they do not have in real life, Jimmy Page is a cnut.

QueenoftheAndals · 14/07/2017 20:35

Cliff Richard once told a friend of mine to fuck off!

chips4teaplease · 14/07/2017 20:35

Don't know about celebrities, really. I do know I was rude to Peter Gabriel. If he's a MNer, this is my apology. I'm sorry. Honestly. I regret it. I do.

MrsDesireeCarthorse · 14/07/2017 20:38

Esther Rantzen. Total fucking bitch at a charity event we were at, it was embarrassing just to watch her.

My mate worked for the RSC and said Maggie Smith was a nasty old cow but Judi Dench was brilliant.

To nobody's surprise, my boss had to interview Prince Edward and said he was a snotty little cunt.

georgjensen · 14/07/2017 20:39

So upset about Nigel Havers being rude

He was very polite to me. I was behind him in the queue in Harrods and he apologised for taking so long. Very charming.

tinytemper66 · 14/07/2017 20:40

Ian Rush the footballer was amazing with disabled children. The Bobath Centre was opening a treatment centre in North Wales (as far as I can remember) and he came down to Cardiff to help with publicity and even ate a half a biscuit offered by one of the boys. Was an absolutely fabulous person!

JonSnowsWhore · 14/07/2017 20:40

Jade goody, no time for to speak to anyone & tried to walk straight past without speaking to anyone that was waiting to talk to her. This was at an event as well so not even while she was out shopping or on her own time etc. Met Christine Hamilton at the same event & she was absolutely lovely & had a lovely conversation with her. We were teenagers at the time as well haha.

Shirley from eastenders, as kids we were with my dad at an event & we weren't allowed in the beer tent so her & another Bad girls actress (I was young, didn't watch it so don't know who) stood outside talking to us.

Lacey Turner very shy but lovely.

Barry humphries/Dame Edna, went to watch the show being recorded & she saw my friend in the audience was pregnant & had a nice conversation with us.

Russell brand, it was a book signing so that was probably why he was nice, he gives the softest kisses...

Jermain Defoe, not met him in person but spoke to him online about a charity thing & hes errr, a bit naughty 😂

DiamondShine · 14/07/2017 20:40

Can someone tell me how you get in touch with these people for birthday messages please?

A good friend is getting married soon and I would love to try get a message for her x

MrsDesireeCarthorse · 14/07/2017 20:40

Ooh yeah, and I met Robert Hardy when I was an extra. He was loooovely. He always makes me think of Red Dwarf when Cat and Lister jam along to 'Robert Hardy reads Tess of the d'Urbervilles'.

SansaryaAgain · 14/07/2017 20:42

I once got locked out of my flat and Simon Callow held the ladder for me as I climbed through the bedroom window I'd fortunately left open.

FrancieC23 · 14/07/2017 20:44

My sons met Jenson Button and Jason Plato both impressed as being really nice guys, Jenson signed my sons caps and Jason joked with them.
Rick Stein was chatty and friendly when we met him at the Newlyn fish festival.

dontslouchdarling · 14/07/2017 20:45

"Judge" Rinder. Not pleasant.

winglesspegasus · 14/07/2017 20:45

worked for joanne whalley and val kilmer for a week.outside very hot/they were lovely.would bring my crew tubs of iced down drinks and snacks and tell them to go up on the porch and cool off.

met patrick swayze and lisa niemi before he did films.when they were both dancers.really nice couple and obviously loved each other so much/years and years later met them again in a different place, and were just as nice, and remembered me?????

Watto1 · 14/07/2017 20:45

My mum used to own a newsagents and we had a few celebs in. Victoria Wood bought a packet of Polos and looked very embarrassed when Mum said that she had tickets to see her that evening! She smiled and said she hopes she enjoys the show.

Michael Barrymore came in trying to buy a magnifying glass of all things. Unfortunately mum's little newsagents didn't stock them! Very charming and even taller than he looks on the telly.

winglesspegasus · 14/07/2017 20:46

you google their agents.usually the only way unless there are still fan clubs connected to the star

DiamondShine · 14/07/2017 20:47

@winglesspegasus thank you 😊

nina2b · 14/07/2017 20:48

Today 20:34 PuppyMonkey

Well I for one find the idea of Ronnie Corbett screaming and being a right diva quite amusing. grin

Me too. Ahhh - my aching sides!!

DailyMaui · 14/07/2017 20:49

I work with celebs on an almost daily basis.

There are only three who have been vile (out of thousands and thousands).

Marti Pellow
Victoria Wood
Esther Rantzen

And the rule seems to be that the bigger the star, the nicer they are - apart from Mariah who isn't rude, just totally fucking bonkers.

Watto1 · 14/07/2017 20:50

Also Charlotte Church is lovely. She visited the hospital where my sister works with no entourage or press present. She chatted to the mum of a little boy who was very ill. They were raising money for treatment in America for him. Charlotte asked how much more they needed. The very next morning, an anonymous donation was made to the boy's fund for the exact amount needed. Not 100% certain it was Charlotte but it's a hell of a coincidence if not!

Bobcat15 · 14/07/2017 20:50

Love Su Pollard, she was a regular in the gift shop I worked at as a student. She used to pop in after getting her coffee from next door. She always gave me her free biscotti. Sinead Cusack was also a regular and could be unpleasant.
Liam Gallagher is a sweetheart and I've always found the same is true of Damon Albarn too. He's s bit socially awkward so wouldn't be surprised if others had the opposite experience.
Richard Hammond is not nice. Also unpleasant experience with Trinny and Susannah.
Adore Michael Palin, Helen Mirren and Terry Wogan (RIP). True national treasures.

Wreckingball25 · 14/07/2017 20:51

I have to counter the Cilla ones! I was on Blind Date in the late 90s and she was just lovely!
My favourite celeb (I work in sport so meet a few) was Jason Leonard, he remembered me and asked after my friend's baby when I saw him a few months later. Apparently he has an amazing memory! Mike Gatting is also super-nice and always has time for fans.

Seren85 · 14/07/2017 20:51

Someone else who is lovely apparently is Mark Knofphler (sp??). When DH was a child MK was at a motorbike race meet. Security wouldn't let anyone near his caravan but he spotted DH outside with his little autograph book and invited him in to chat. DH had juice and biscuits with MK and his wife. My MIL has never forgiven him!

Someone else who was lovely to me was the older guy from Dalziel and Pascoe. My abusive ex was screaming at me in a car park then walked off and left me crying with no way you get home. He came over to ask if I was OK and gave me a hanky. He was wearing a linen suit and a very nice hat.

MrsDesireeCarthorse · 14/07/2017 20:51

Quite a few comments on Bill Oddie...he has suffered for decades from severe depression with other mental illness, and has been very honest about how difficult he finds speaking to anyone, and how unpleasant he can be without meaning to. I'd give him a pass.
