Apparently the whole country is waiting to celebrate her birthday (according to ITV)
Well Dh certainly isn't!
He was a big fan when he was a lad, and went to see her in a pantomime.
Waiting at the stage door after the show for an autograph with other star struck youngsters, she came out and told them all to Piss Off and clear off home Shock
He said she was the most horrible, rude person and that he never watched her in anything again.
Which celebs have you met that didn't match up to the pedestal you had them on?

James McAvoy is an absolute darling. I asked for a kiss (none of this autograph stuff!) He was obviously in full make up for filming but made a joke about his wife not approving. I stole a kiss on the cheek anyway and he just laughed. Lovely man.

My grandad worked with Cilla Black and says she was absolutely horrid.

Hudson10 · 14/07/2017 19:56

Aw, glad to hear Christian Slater was lovely, I used to absolutely love him when I was 14 too, was all over my walls! Smile

hollyisalovelyname · 14/07/2017 19:57

IHaveCausedConfusuionAndDelay
I'm gutted that Paul O'Grady was rude.
I thought anyone who loves dogs so much must be nice Sad

LaurieFairyCake · 14/07/2017 19:57

Frankie Boyle is one of the loveliest blokes you'll ever meet.

lilyborderterrier · 14/07/2017 19:57

My oh has a great dislike for Lenny Henry ? As many years ago when he was a student doing parachute jumps in a field near Lancaster, the group were waiting for the weather to change and Lenny turned up in a small private plane. The lads were playing frisbee and it was thrown near Lenny and they asked him to throw it back. He apparently looked at them with a look of disgust swore at them and walked off.
Years of hatred were the results. Shock

URaflutteringcunt · 14/07/2017 19:59

Oh and this night out me but I met Sheridan Smith at a very small band night in a pub. She was a bit wary at first but I told her I'd loved her on stage etc and later in the night she had a little dance with us!

uppityupupup · 14/07/2017 19:59

LockedOutOfMN - re Josie Long - Although I don't know her on a personal level, only though work, I strongly suspect she's one of the few who doesn't have an 'onstage persona' as such - she is who she is - which is quite a wonderful person .

Windycityblues · 14/07/2017 19:59

And Alistar Campbell has great french uppity, a very attractive trait!

thefutureisfemale · 14/07/2017 20:00

She's nothing special. Another old blonde tart.

OverTheHammer · 14/07/2017 20:00

A friend of ours knows Jennifer Saunders and says she's just like Eddy Monsoon - ditsy, manic and disorganised - but lovely 😁

Longdistance · 14/07/2017 20:00

Jeremy Clarkson was a twat in Perth WA, we spotted him outside a hotel and he was flanked with young ladies. However, James May was great and wanting photos taken. My sils face Shock

Longdistance · 14/07/2017 20:01

Then someone that surprised me was Rab C Nesbitt (can't remember his name) he was a miserable twat.

thelikelylass · 14/07/2017 20:02

yuk - Mel Sykes.
Lovely - Ray Davies. Christopher Eccleston.

southeastdweller · 14/07/2017 20:02

I'm quite judgmental about people who are rude to those in service jobs

Couldn't agree more. I did waiting work for years and the only celeb I met who was off with me was Jo Whiley - she gave me a mildly filthy look and I got a very 'go away you little person' kind of vibe from her, which is really unusual in my experience from when I worked in hospitality. It was at an event where she looked as if she was enjoying herself so I doubt she was having a bad day. It's all a bit of a shame really as I expected her to be lovely Sad

uppityupupup · 14/07/2017 20:03

Windycityblues - Oh god, I can admit it here but he's deffo got it iykwim.

I'm glad I didn't know about the French then on that day...

Stopyourhavering · 14/07/2017 20:03

Kate Winslet.....was on same flight as us back from Antigua, sitting 2 rows in front....asked the flight attendant to ask her if she would sign autograph for our 2 dd.....she was 'too tired!'......?sitting on a plane for 8 hrs?Confused

Grumpbum · 14/07/2017 20:03

My Dad was in the first gulf war and would not spit on Kate Ady if she was on fire, she was rude, condescending and demanding

WoofWoofMooWoof · 14/07/2017 20:04

I do extra work in movies, and I must say, Colin Firth is such a diva! He once took off a week before filming started, leaving all the makeup artists in a tiz, as they needed to have a wig made for him, but he decided to take off. I remember the lady huffing about it as she did my makeup.

YogaYogiChocoholic · 14/07/2017 20:05

Tess Daly is a rude cow. We were neighbours at one time and chatty. When she found fame- suddenly we were all invisible!! Turn the TV off now when she's on!

Nightshirt · 14/07/2017 20:06

Saddened about Peter Kaye :(

Friend met Michael Palin recently, she said lovely :)

DramaQueenofHighCs · 14/07/2017 20:08

Met a few minor celebs and luckily all lovely!
Most recent Naomi Wilkinson (kids to presenter, Marrying Mum and Dad, Nightmares of Nature etc).
DS and I were the last in a long queue of children after one of her live shows and she obviously had friends waiting to see her too and yet she signed DS's ticket, had a photo taken with him and had a little conversation with him about meerkats which are his favourite animal and complimented him on his change colour (UV sensitive) meerkat tshirt.
It wasn't showing the colours at the time as it was a bit of a cloudy day and so the next day when it was sunny and DS wore it again he made me tweet her a photo as 'she said she would like to see it mummy'. Bless her she tweeted back saying she remembered DS and thought it looked really cool with all the colours. (Whether she actually remembered him or not who knows, but made his day all the same.)

Ladyday · 14/07/2017 20:09

We met Andy from CBeebies at London Zoo and he was incredibly sweet - gave us loads of time even though he had a show to do. Roy Castle also lovely - even when he was ill, he went the extra mile.

NormHonal · 14/07/2017 20:09

Yep, have encountered Zoe Ball in a couple of different scenarios, one a private event, once in an airport when she had no reason to be nice (and heaven knows, I am grumpy-as-hell when straight off a flight) and she was lovely and charming both times.

11122aa · 14/07/2017 20:11

My mum met Barbara years ago and said she was friendly. She even saw her in her curlers.
I haven't really met any celebrities. Only some MP's. I have overheard one having a private phone call but didnt speak to her.

Shenanagins · 14/07/2017 20:11

Davina McColl was lovely to my dc when she could have easily ignored them.
