Apparently the whole country is waiting to celebrate her birthday (according to ITV)
Well Dh certainly isn't!
He was a big fan when he was a lad, and went to see her in a pantomime.
Waiting at the stage door after the show for an autograph with other star struck youngsters, she came out and told them all to Piss Off and clear off home Shock
He said she was the most horrible, rude person and that he never watched her in anything again.
Which celebs have you met that didn't match up to the pedestal you had them on?

Saw Penn and Teller at their show in Vegas, we hung around to meet them afterwards and they spent ages making sure that every person got a photo, autograph, little chat (even Teller spoke!) couldn't have been lovelier.
Also in Vegas, Shania Twain was walking through Caesars Palace (was doing a show there although not at that time) she had so much security with her, she was pushed through and didn't stop to talk to anyone.

ASDismynormality · 21/07/2017 13:23

Penn and Teller did that in London too, came out after the show to sign autographs.

Deploycharitygoats · 21/07/2017 13:35

In the spirit of the thread, Mike Leigh was a complete twat. Took a huge amount of pleasure in humiliating an elderly man in front of an audience, the bully. I'll never forget his self satisfied grin.

nina2b · 21/07/2017 13:58

Horrid little man. His plays were snide, too.

BishopBrennansArse · 21/07/2017 14:07

Joe Pasquale was a dick.
Fair enough he was 'off duty' but I happened to just look around not knowing he was there and got "what do you want?" yelled at me. I was about 10 metres away with my family, not particularly interested in approaching me and was actually checking to see if mum was on her way back from the loo.

fussychica · 22/07/2017 10:54

Henry Cooper, met him many many years ago, spent several hours with him - lovely man
Met David Blunkett through work seemed pleasant enough.
Sat next to a comedian who was big in the 80s on a flight back from the Gambia. Damn can't think of his name but he was very nice.

Patriciathestripper1 · 22/07/2017 20:34

bishop 😂 I bet he felt a twat when he realised you weren't looking at him!
"I'd have said sorry who are you? I was actually looking for my mumyou arrogant celebrity twat

Nettletheelf · 22/07/2017 21:46

Don't believe the Blunkett hype. What a diva. I and all the other passengers were instructed to clear the platform at Kings Cross once (pre station refurb) because Blunkett and Lucy (his guide dog!) wished to get on the train - first class, naturally - without being looked at.

We were all shoved back by police then made to clear a gangway so that Blunkett could walk to the train, escorted by more police. Unsmiling, without so much as a "thank you". He wasn't even in the cabinet then.

He made the train leave 15 minutes late too.

Patricia I have a Michael Hutchence story!
When I was a teenager I had various part time jobs whilst doing my A Levels. The first was in a chemist that was open late and on a Sunday (which was unusual back then). We used to get a lot of celebrities in. One day this guy came in who was familiar to me along with his friend who was also familiar. It turned out it was Michael Hutchence and another member of INXS! Anyway he seemed a bit distressed and his friend concerned so I asked could I help. He was having an asthma attack! They explained they were tourists and needed emergency ventolin at which point the penny dropped as to who it was. His mate (it was that guy with the glasses- sorry I don't know his name!) proceeded to try and and go into more detail about the tourist thing etc. I said look I know who you are don't worry about explaining and got the pharmacist immediately who looked after him. They were both absolutely lovely and when he has recovered they were so grateful. I was mortified asking under the circumstances but knew I'd regret it if I didn't so asked for an autograph (I was very apologetic about it I promise and this was after he'd had an inhaler and was fine!) I still have it saved (and this was over 20 years ago. He was lovely!
A few other big names came in there too as well as pretty much all the Eastenders cast. Sting and Annie Lennox and many others- I don't remember anyone not being nice. I'm desperately trying to remember if anyone ever bought anything embarrassing! 😂

I also worked in a supermarket that had a lot of celebs come in and agree that Bob Monkhouse was absolutely wonderful. I assumed he'd be horrible and smarmy in real life but he was honestly a lovely man. He came in two weeks in a row and the second week remembered my name and what he has asked me the week before. I really cannot express enough how genuine, warm and kind he was. He really made my day.
Tom Conti was lovely too.
A regular customer was Mr Motivator who was also just the most wonderful, friendly and genuine man.
Andre Agassi randomly opened a local sports store when I was a teenager too. I still don't know how on earth they swung it. He was very quiet and seemed quite shy.

Horrible celebs- Ian Wright is rude and arrogant as is Garth Crooks.

LyndaLaHughes · 22/07/2017 23:04

Oh and ask

LyndaLaHughes · 22/07/2017 23:05

Sorry also agree Gary Lineker isn't nice either!

HelenaDove · 22/07/2017 23:12

DH says he preferred Valerie Leon (who was also in the Carry Ons and a Hammer film) Hes not a fan of Barbara.

mummypeepee · 22/07/2017 23:33

Lionel Blair was arrogant and rude to me at a tap for telethon thing for ITV years ago. I'd waited all day to ask for autograph and he told me to piss off, I was 9. Michael Palin is the loveliest man alive, spent ages talking to him, really lovely guy. Hubby walked straight into Liam Gallagher years ago and nearly sent him flying and he was really cool about it, hubby hadn't realised who it was as I stood there gobsmacked

YouTheCat · 22/07/2017 23:39

I met Jeremy Beadle once. He was up North and had met a friend of mine - this was about 1990 or something. She was having her 40th birthday that weekend at a local working men's club and invited him along. He only went and turned up! Danced the night away with various people and was utterly lovely.

augustusglupe · 23/07/2017 00:04

I was the last one to squeeze into a lift at Euston station recently. The lift doors closed and then opened and Jane Horrocks was stood there and said 'Can't you just move back'? in a really horrible way. I was like 'erm, not really'.. as the doors closed again. DD said 'wasn't that Jane Horrocks?' And we burst out laughing!! To be far, she looked knackered, so I'll let her off Grin

Patriciathestripper1 · 23/07/2017 00:28

mummy when I was little I was totally fascinated by Jeremy Beadles little hand I was a freaky child

DD has met quite a few Corri stars in her job...
Also said Helen Flanagan was lovely and down to earth.
The lad who plays Craig, is just the same in RL, he was with his parents and was lovely.
The actor who plays Jason Grimshaw was up his own arse
Deirdre Barlow also lovely

rose69 · 23/07/2017 07:45

Davina McCall is rude.
The following have been lovely: the Fonze, Matthew Kelly, Tyne daley (Mary Beth from cagney and Lacey) Joanna Lumley

KERALA1 · 23/07/2017 08:03

Ex had a Notting hill moment (when you don't realise someone famous and put your foot in it). Met guy at party in 90s told ex he was in a band ex commiserated about how hard it is to make a living from that "nah it's alright I'm in massive attack"

TheProdigalRhubarb · 23/07/2017 08:53

Cilla Black wouldn't allow airline crew to speak to her. Everything had to be done through her husband, eg he'd say "Miss Black will have a gin and tonic now".

The Duchess of York - lovely
Melanie Sykes - lovely
Kate Adie - pleasant and polite but terrifying.
Jamie and Louise Redknapp - very sweet and down to earth but Harry was rude when he didn't get a free upgrade.
Alan Davies - lovely
Alastair Campbell - charming

BoysofMelody · 23/07/2017 08:59

Cilla Black wouldn't allow airline crew to speak to her. Everything had to be done through her husband, eg he'd say "Miss Black will have a gin and tonic now".

This may well be an urban myth, but apparently one member of the flight crew got so exasperated by this performance that s/he retorted 'i always knew you couldn't sing, but I didn't realise you couldn't fucking speak either'

Timefortea99 · 23/07/2017 09:03

No wonder Cilla was so devastated when her husband died. She actually had to speak to the proles.

YouTheCat · 23/07/2017 09:41

Patricia, it's all right. I'm used to being called 'mummy' as I work in a school. Grin

yawning801 · 23/07/2017 09:54

Candice Brown (last year) - I nearly knocked her out at a train station, I apologised and she completely blanked me! I can probably understand this as she was obviously going somewhere and wanted to actually get there without being run over!
