Apparently the whole country is waiting to celebrate her birthday (according to ITV)
Well Dh certainly isn't!
He was a big fan when he was a lad, and went to see her in a pantomime.
Waiting at the stage door after the show for an autograph with other star struck youngsters, she came out and told them all to Piss Off and clear off home Shock
He said she was the most horrible, rude person and that he never watched her in anything again.
Which celebs have you met that didn't match up to the pedestal you had them on?

These are great!

Mine are
Nasty - Denise Welch and Jimmy Nail (both of them absolutely vile to service personnel, and very much "Do you know who I am?" - DW bawled this in a shoe shop to some poor little lass who was serving, and another customer (How I wish it had been me!) said "Yes - and what you are as well. Bitch")
Donna Air - up herself and too good to bother with the likes of ordinary mortals

Up-themselves but not actually rude - Ian Richardson

Lovely - Mike Neville

These are the only ones I've encountered.

Not surprised at many of the nasties, but very disappointed to find Maggie Smith among them (I luffs her . . . Sad)

MsHarry · 18/07/2017 15:49

So disappointed and surprised about Jimmy Nail.

chewbaccathehooky · 18/07/2017 15:50

I can confirm that Eamonn Holmes is one of the loveliest men I've ever met. Very charming, kind and with a real sparkle in his eye. Even if he wasn't famous I'd still love him the most of anyone. Met him lots of times and unfailingly delightful on each occasion. swooons

prettybird · 18/07/2017 16:09

Talking about this at coffee with some friends and one said that her dh had had some business dealing with Richard Branson and said he was horrible to work with: slimy and with a propensity always to be photographed with pretty young women.

vikingprincess81 · 18/07/2017 16:10

Almost scared to ask - has anyone met Jon Richardson? I want him to be lovely!
I saw David Schwimmer at the stage door after some show in London - he's surprisingly small or far away Grin

Polarbearflavour · 18/07/2017 16:40

I flew with cabin crew who served Cilla Black who said she was rude, nasty and entitled - most of the time she wouldn't even speak to the crew but spoke through her staff! Really unpleasant lady.

Why am I unspruised to hear that Babs Windsor is a total cow?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/07/2017 16:58

Johnny Morris was absolutely horrid. that burst my bubble I'll tell you.

"Animal Magic" Johnny Morris?

NOOooooooooooooooooooooo! Sad

Staff were given a memorable ordering them to "refrain from looking directly at Mr Nail during his visit"

Obviously gazing at such magnificence is like staring directly into the sun Honey. That is the JN I encountered, too.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/07/2017 17:08

Glad to hear Anton Lesser is as delightful as I had hoped.

Slimthistime · 18/07/2017 17:08

haven't read whole thread

from work

Jeremy Paxman - not nice

Miranda Hart - lovely and also puzzled by a poster saying "where is she now?" - in a major part on the London stage, is the answer.

Meryl Streep - lovely

Nick Clegg - wasn't great but I think was highly stressed when I met him

Emma Thompson - slightly outing but I loved her so much I nearly asked her to adopt me Blush

not from work

Andrew Lincoln, Jack Davenport, Derren Brown, Joanne Frogatt - all really sweet and happy to chat about their work.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/07/2017 17:10

Uppity

Your mam is amazing!

CaptainHammer · 18/07/2017 17:11

@timefortea99 I don't watch the show but my friend does and she was gutted!

FreyaJade · 18/07/2017 17:20

I once met Jamie Redknapp (before he married Louise) he was very nice & also very attractive.

My sister had business dealings with Chris Evans & he was nasty to her & her colleagues.

She also dealt with Theo Paphitis (not sure I'm spelling it right) from Dragons Den & he was nice & polite.

For the Jools Holland haters.

I've met Gregg Wallace from Masterchef, he was so sweet and chatted for ages.

I can't believe it! I've always considered hm a gurning arse!

MsHarry · 18/07/2017 17:26

Met Chris Evans at Car fest and he was very happy to pose for a photo with us.

CranjisMcBasketball · 18/07/2017 17:27

I know it's pages ago but Bradley Walsh is just lovely. Me and some friends drunkenly accosted him in a bar in Manchester and he took it in good spirits. He posed for photos with us and sent us over a bottle of champagne as it was my birthday.

Chris Rock=Total Cock. My sister and her friend were having a drink in an trendy club in Manchester. They weren't allowed in the a roped off area that seemed to put half the available space out of action so they decided to drink up and leave. As they were going they were approached by a big guy and invited to join Mr Rock for a drink. My sister declined but her friend was excited to meet such a famous person. When they went over they were arranged to sit on each side of him. They were then left alone except for the big guy who stood behind the booth directly behind Mr Rock. They drank some champagne in complete silence. He didn't acknowledge them at all. They got up to leave and my sister was taken aside and asked to provide her phone number and if she was available later on? She declined. As they were leaving two more girls were being ushered in and a bottle of champagne was pulled from a crate under the next table.

Dawndonnaagain · 18/07/2017 17:33

Jeremy Paxman - not nice
My experience is completely different. Dd asked for a selfie at a book festival. She is a wheelchair user. He leapt off the stage and sat next to her, watched her put it up on Facebook, all the time chatting about which uni she was going to and who she'd enjoyed at said festival and encouraging her to get on uni challenge. Absolutely charming.

YouTheCat · 18/07/2017 17:36

I disagree about Jimmy Nail - never had a problem with him and served him beer many times. This was when he was still on the tv a lot.

His sister was a bit of a handful though.

peachgreen · 18/07/2017 17:59

@vikingprincess81 I've seen Jon Richardson around a lot (he lives in the area I used to live in). I never spoke to him other than the usual "excuse me" etc in the pub (always think it's a bit weird approaching someone famous who lives in your neighbourhood because you're bound to bump into them again!) but I've seen him interact with lots of people and he's really nice. Not a MASSIVE fan of being recognised, I'd say - like he's always friendly and polite but I get the impression he'd prefer it didn't happen. He helped my pregnant friend in from the car with her shopping once!

Timefortea99 · 18/07/2017 18:34

Good news about Eamonn Holmes @Chewbacca

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/07/2017 19:00

Met Chris Evans at Car fest and he was very happy to pose for a photo with us.

He's not my cup of tea, but I think he must be a really nice bloke because neither of his ex-wives have anything but good to say about him.

andintothefire · 18/07/2017 19:12

It's a bit too outing to list the people I've met, but I agree that most celebrities are in fact really nice. Everybody can have an off day, but almost everybody I know loves what they do, feels grateful for their luck, and is happy to give time to fans when they can. Boring I know!

I do agree though that Camilla in real life comes across as very nice and down to earth. It always makes me a bit sad now when I see articles attacking her.

Laurence Fox is one of the few people I have come across who can be quite difficult. Billie, on the other hand, is lovely.
