Apparently the whole country is waiting to celebrate her birthday (according to ITV)
Well Dh certainly isn't!
He was a big fan when he was a lad, and went to see her in a pantomime.
Waiting at the stage door after the show for an autograph with other star struck youngsters, she came out and told them all to Piss Off and clear off home Shock
He said she was the most horrible, rude person and that he never watched her in anything again.
Which celebs have you met that didn't match up to the pedestal you had them on?

Terry Waite- lovely, very unassuming.

Richard O'Brian- lovely bloke, donated some amazing stuff to a charity auction.

Prince William (met while he was piloting the air ambulance and I was helping in a really minor way at the scene)- patient, kind, slightly amused when he saw that I'd finally realised who he was (not drawing attention to himself at all). He hid away when a crowd appeared as word had spread who was flying.

MrsLupo · 17/07/2017 22:39

Joan Collins once ostentatiously ran her eyes up and down my (admittedly gorgeous) boyfriend outside the St James Court Hotel. Bit rude, I thought.

And I was once propositioned by Rhona Cameron in a toilet, not that that puts me in a very exclusive category - not even that evening, if memory serves.

Oh, and Peter Purves is a complete cunt.

URaflutteringcunt · 17/07/2017 23:26

Curlyshabtree that's awful.

I hope she answered "Really? All that money and you still look like a cunt? I'd take them back..."

My son asked me to send a message to tom Daley with a question, he didn't bother to reply. Ds asked about how he got the courage up to first do a complicated dive so it wasn't anything personal.

user1498911470 · 17/07/2017 23:54

John Cleese came across as arrogant but I wondered how much was down to his m/h issues.
Ant and Dec are both lovely, lovely people.

Charliegirl1974 · 18/07/2017 00:02

Someone mentioned Peter Egan - he was absolutely lovely when my Army Cadet band were filming Ever Decreasing Circles, signing autographs and chatting to us. Turns out he wasn't even filming until later but went out of his way. Richard Briers wasn't rude as such, he just didn't have the time for anything other than filming and buggering off.

I used to work at Body Shop headquarters as a tea lady but only met Anita Roddick once when I was covering my friend's floor and took her lunch up. She complained that she had asked for no chick peas as the reminded her of rabbit droppings! She wasn't rude, just hilariously eccentric.

Dibbles1967 · 18/07/2017 00:11

Paul Merton in a lift, I smiled & said hello & he reciprocated. Had a brilliant sex dream about him that night Grin

Jools Holland. Obnoxious git. I was in the Chelsea Bun & he came in with his entourage & tried to clear everyone out. Myself & colleague declined & he just GLARED at us. Proper turned me milk sour it did.

OI! Jools! I can play the recorder but you don't see me trying to take over cafe's. Wished I had, but of course I didn't. only in my head

Patriciathestripper1 · 18/07/2017 00:11

Did anyone ever meet Michael Hutchins?
I saw him in concert in Manchester the year before he died. He had the most incredibly sexy stage presence.

Ooh! Just remembered - Hazel O'Conner did a gig at our local church last year (they have lots of gigs there Shock

She was brill during the gig and then at the end, myself, DP & our friend nabbed her for a selfie. She was lovely and went along with it good grace.

After, I said to DP, I'm a bit miffed she didn't do 8th Day. Apparently she did, when me & friend went outside... oops!

Yes, exactly !

I wish these threads didn't always turn into "Guess what, I met X and he/she was utterly charming/absolutely lovely/an utter delight".

The exam question was, which celebrities have you met who behaved like arses, like Barbara Windsor was to the OP's husband.

user1498240695 · 18/07/2017 00:46

To be fair Nettle, said students have tackled the paper from a compare/contrast angle and as an examiner I give the thread an A*. Fab thread indeed Smile

Nettletheelf · 18/07/2017 00:52

Not on the marking scheme!

uppityupupup · 18/07/2017 06:44

Nettletheelf - I was actually thinking the complete opposite, lovely to have a thread full of positivity - feels good.

Partridgeamongstthepigeons · 18/07/2017 08:17

Curly

Oh no - I guessed he could be 'a bit of a shit' to misquote Partridge but how revolting of him to say thatSad

Timefortea99 · 18/07/2017 10:51

Anyone met Eamonn and Ruth - I am hoping they are as pleasant as they seem on screen.

breadedbrielarson · 18/07/2017 10:58

Steve Coogan is clean and teetotal now isn't he, I bet that wouldn't happen now.

BoysofMelody · 18/07/2017 12:53

I wonder if the vastly different experiences of Billy Connelly are pre and post alcoholism.

CaptainHammer · 18/07/2017 14:52

My friend worked with Fred the maitre d' from First Dates on a charity event and he was a massive arse, really rude and demanding.

Timefortea99 · 18/07/2017 15:03

Aw, I though Fred would be a sweetheart.

MsHarry · 18/07/2017 15:11

Wayne Sleep was lovely. I was messing about on a speak your weight machine in the corridor of The Bournemouth Exhibition Centre as a teen with a friend when he walked past. He was alone and when he saw us giggling and messing about he came up with a big grin and said "What are you two up to?" before laughing and carrying on.

MsHarry · 18/07/2017 15:14

Also, I was in a queue in M&S food by Tower bridge when Gok Wan walked past to join the queue. He seemed so familiar to me and I said "Oh Hello!" as he walked past, obviously he didn't recognise me but said " Hi, how are you?" and joined the queue. I went bright red !

Yeswecankle · 18/07/2017 15:28

Ah Gok is lovely, can confirm!
