Apparently the whole country is waiting to celebrate her birthday (according to ITV)
Well Dh certainly isn't!
He was a big fan when he was a lad, and went to see her in a pantomime.
Waiting at the stage door after the show for an autograph with other star struck youngsters, she came out and told them all to Piss Off and clear off home Shock
He said she was the most horrible, rude person and that he never watched her in anything again.
Which celebs have you met that didn't match up to the pedestal you had them on?

anyway, Ed Tudour Pole I've heard he doesn't like to talk about the crystal maze, any one tried to talk to him about it?

magicstar1 · 17/07/2017 15:47

I was - unintentionally - rude to a celeb one time. I was at a Star Trek convention, and for some reason they were showing one of the Star Wars movies in a side room. I was sitting there having a look (never been interested in Star Wars), when a guy came in and asked me what was on. I said "oh some Star Wars crap", and he left. Turned out to be David Prowse who played Darth Vader...I felt bad for ages.

I once had the genuine pleasure of working with Lloyd Grossman. He was charming, polite, friendly and professional. He was very funny in person, but when he scripted jokes into his speech - cringe-makingly, unfunnily awful. Genuinely lovely guy to work with, though.

MadreTranquillitatis · 17/07/2017 15:58

@OverTheHammer I used to see him a lot around Hampstead Heath.
Once near the playground next to the Heath, it was just after school pick up so lots of children running, scooters, bikes, buggies, etc. Ricky Gervais and his mate were walking past, when a small boy nearly bumped into them. The other guy was moaning about the bloody kids on their bloody scooters. RG actually helped the kid up and laughed, 'what do you expect, there's a playground there'
Sorry to disappoint but he was very lovely Grin

Terfing · 17/07/2017 16:26

Which Fergie? The royal or the pop star?

OverTheHammer · 17/07/2017 16:54

Aww not disappointed at all! I love Ricky Gervais - I think he's hilarious, a great actor and so generous with his charity work ... I'm so glad to read that it's not just a persona ❤

The whole collection from self and friends and family:

Margaret Thatcher, when she was SoS for Education: totally clueless about primary school kids she was visiting. Didn't she get briefed at all? We also hated the way our headteacher sucked up to her.

Paul Weller years ago in a bar near Covent Garden: He held the gents door open to go in as I came out. The girls in our group wanted to go back and see how big is willy is. I didn't.

Germaine Greer on a Ryan Air flight back from Dublin. Snotty cow. "Don't you know who I am?" "I'll write a book about you"

Simon Callow we spotted him after seeing him in a play on his way home. He said "Oh my god, proles!" and hurried away: It's okay, we were going home too.

Alan Rickman ... according to a friend, gave her a Severus Snape stare which terrified her and then a grin ... that apparently made her fall in lurve!

Carenza Lewis busy at her job but my dog loved her so she has to be okay.

Her Majesty QE2 ... family legend: Has the ability not to hear the word "bugger" said very audibly in her presence. Years of practice with Phillip?

Hollipopsmum · 17/07/2017 17:26

Usain Bolt gave my DD his running number after he'd won the relay gold at the Commonwealth Games - he made damn sure she got it despite others trying to grab it. Met Bryan McFadden who was lovely when I asked for a photo (my sis is a massive Westlife fan so couldn't pass up the opportunity!) he was with Peter Jones (Dragons Den) who was also really friendly. Peter Kay was having dinner at the next table to some of my mates- it was one of their birthdays he joined in the singing and wished her a happy birthday on leaving.

wornoutboots · 17/07/2017 18:26

David Bellamy (if anyone remembers him, used to do nature programs) was vile. Very attention-grabby. And didn't like it when people didn't laugh when he slagged Neil Kinnock off (in South Wales, in the next-door constituency to the one for which Kinnock was MP), called us a bunch of leftie arseholes.

Richard from Right Said Fred was ok, he did the "don't you know who I am?" thing, but then laughed when I said "oh I do know, I just don't care. Can you get out of my way, please?" (He'd got between me as an 18 year old and the 10 year old kid I was looking after for the day)

local MP at the time, Stephen Twigg bumped into me and knocked me over because he wasn't watching where he was going (I was walking along, he came up behind me) then said "oh really! there are CONSTITUENTS* getting under foot now!" into his phone. So I yelled "don't help me up when you knocked me over, you self-important twat" in the hope it was a very important call.

*"constituents" was said in the same tone most people reserve for describing things like dog poo in their lunch box....

ASDismynormality · 17/07/2017 18:46

My DD filmed an advert with Michael Parkinson, he took time to say help and have a chat with everyone which was nice.
DD was running around in circles in the waiting area of a studio, she nearly tripped over Gordon Ramsey but he was very polite about it!

Avonandice · 17/07/2017 18:54

Geoff Capes - totally massive but had a fab time chatting about his view, he is HUGE
William Fox-Pitt - gorgeous, chatty and VERY nice without being snobby
Princess Anne - aloof but chatty but we were talking horse

Larry Grayson - awful, ill mannered and rude to the point of not talking to my friend who was serving him but talked to his boyfriend who passed on messages
Steve Bull (I think) - tried the ' do you know who I am) told him 'No and to get back in the queue as he wasn't being served before anyone else' and he could wait his turn

Avonandice · 17/07/2017 18:56

Nearly forgot
Brian Blessed - he was lovely but loud with a filthy sense of humour

YouTheCat · 17/07/2017 18:58

I would love to meet Brian Blessed. Grin

JustadaftProfessor · 17/07/2017 19:08

you'll need earplugs.

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 17/07/2017 19:15

Michael Sheen is unutterably lovely. Met him a couple of times. Ray Sunstone, very pleasant.
Chatted to Edwyn Collins in a restaurant in Mallorca, didn't let on I knew who he was. He was very personable.

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 17/07/2017 19:16

YouTheCat · 17/07/2017 19:16

I work in a primary school - I'd cope. Grin

CrowyMcCrowFace · 17/07/2017 20:03

justadaftprofessor - mate of mine was involved with Time Team as a young archaeologist & also says TR was an utter cunt.

However, I would put my last tenner on mate having totally bounded up to him blathering about Baldrick, so probably fair enough...

Someone pages ago asked about Richard O'Brian. I was involved years ago in running a themed bar & RO'B was our opening night sleb. Absolutely delightful. Regaled us all with scurrilous Rocky Horror tales at subsequent lock in.

JustadaftProfessor · 17/07/2017 20:06

Good to know Richard O'brien is a nice guy.

Porkpudding · 17/07/2017 20:13

I can vouch for Michael sheen extremely lovely caring man xx

Polarbearflavour · 17/07/2017 20:36

I used to be a flight attendant so had the opportunity to interact...

Carole King - my favourite person ever! So smiley and chatty, happy to talk.
Tom Cruise - lovely. Very charming!
Angelina - nice enough but weird
John Simm - down to earth, friendly
Sophia Loren - very gracious and elegant
Bonnie Tyler - her husband spoke for her. She drank only water and he had lots of champagne
The Queen of Denmark and the Prince Consort - polite and quiet
Fiona Fullerton - very friendly and pleasant

TiggyD · 17/07/2017 21:43

Keith Chegwin. Nearly spherical, but didn't talk to him. Just saw him use a cashpoint.

I wish I could contribute. I'm going to have to start stalking slebs.

Castieldeansam · 17/07/2017 21:51

Tony Robinson was in our village with time team. He was an arse, blocked the road talking to someone's on the team he was in one 4x4, other person going other way in 4x4. Literally blocked road for a fair few minutes, did even wave to apologise, other guy looked more sorry!

I saw keith Duffy in an airport lounge during his coronation street stint, didn't say anything to him as my toddler son was violently sick!

Nearly ran over Paul Daniels and son and Debbie McGee when they dropped off pavement onto road right in front of me! They smiled as realised they were at fault!!!

@janiston you lucky devil.

Glad tom hiddleston and David tennant came out well.

Curlyshabtree · 17/07/2017 22:01

Steve Coogan once told my cousin that his sunglasses cost more than she earns in a year. What a bastard!

Patriciathestripper1 · 17/07/2017 22:03
