Apparently the whole country is waiting to celebrate her birthday (according to ITV)
Well Dh certainly isn't!
He was a big fan when he was a lad, and went to see her in a pantomime.
Waiting at the stage door after the show for an autograph with other star struck youngsters, she came out and told them all to Piss Off and clear off home Shock
He said she was the most horrible, rude person and that he never watched her in anything again.
Which celebs have you met that didn't match up to the pedestal you had them on?

Jean Christophe Novelli, not only gorgeous but charming. Really genuine with fans, bf witnessed him talking at length to a young disabled boy, and when boy became obsessed with JCN's (v expensive and fancy) watch, took it off and gave him it. Lovely man, so sorry about his son.

thinkingofsomething · 15/07/2017 05:33

Camilla is lovely - very charming and down to earth
Bill Clinton is made out of charm as charisma
Never had an issue with Miranda
Jennifer Saunders is batty but lovely - Dawn French is incredibly kind but very quiet and private
Alan Rickman was possibly the kindest man in the world RIP
Barack Obama... major swoon here - polite, charming and so smart
Lin Manuel Miranda is so lovely - just a delight
Emma Watson was wonderful

Now for the dickheads...
Prince Andrew - no surprises there
Prince Charles isn't awful, just awkward - I don't think he's comfortable with real people...
Princess Diana (waits for the lynching) was, behind closed doors - something of a nightmare. Clearly a very troubled and unhappy person
Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon are epic douchebags
Madonna is horrid

LaughRee · 15/07/2017 05:39

Another friend worked with James Martin, v rude apparently.

DD nurse met Prince William - she was nursing at a hospital in A&E - had to run out with the team to meet the Air Ambulance. The crew were transferring a patient and PW was assisting. He passed stuff to DD and she thought he seemed vaguely familiar, but focusing on patient didn't realise it was him until later. Said he was very natural and just one of the team.

Meet Lenny Henry at an OU related thing, lovely. Peter Davison, very lovely.

DD met Nick Grimshaw after a festival, said he was nice. Other DD met Gary Barlow at X Factor thing, lovely.
Met Paul Daniels years ago, very nice.

Cary2012 · 15/07/2017 05:56

Oh and a friend worked with Noel Edmonds years ago, and said he was horrible.

JustadaftProfessor · 15/07/2017 06:28

Anyone ever met Richard O'brien, what's he like?

HeyMicky · 15/07/2017 06:43

Interesting people say Jimmy Carr is charming

I used to work in a role booking celebs for corporate events (award shows, motivational speaking and the like). Carr was an utter arsehole on every occasion. He once came in and loudly thanked the office for the last few months of work as it had paid for his new house. We were all on pretty low wages. Absolutely no class.

I met loads of celebs at the time - Rory Bremner and Fiona Bruce stand out in my memory as being total sweethearts

isthismummy · 15/07/2017 06:44

Met Patrick Stewart a few years back doing extra work and he is very charming and lovely. He came and stood behind me in the toilet queue and commented how "all toilets should be bisexual so nobody has to wait in line"

I may have come over all unessacaryBlush That voice is such a thing of beauty.

My dads friend used to be Tina Turners drum technician and says she is the most wonderful women. Beloved by her entire crew.

Steve Marriott from The Small Faces once called my FIL a c**t back in the day. He asked FIL for a cigarette and was less than impressed when he said no.

Didn't speak to myself, but once overheard Helena Bonham Carter chatting to fans at Royal Opera House and she sounded lovely. Insanely beautiful too,

My friend once saw Will Young in a pub and he was wearing a Will Young tour T ShirtGrin

girlsyearapart · 15/07/2017 07:00

isthismummy I second that about Alan Shearer he was rude when I met him too.

Bobby Robson was lovely though

girlsyearapart · 15/07/2017 07:06

Forgot Amanda Holden very lovely when we met her in pizza express for one the dds birthday and they were wearing Frozen costumes she chatted about how lovely they looked and where she could get one for her dd
Mo Farah smiled and mo botted when we cheered him on driving past on a training run ( he was faster than the car)
DH meets a few celebs via work and always says David Gest was the absolute nicest bloke

popcornetto · 15/07/2017 07:08

Met bob hoskins when I was a teenager while he was filming one of the bt adverts and he was lovely.

MyOtherProfile · 15/07/2017 07:16

From people in the industry apparently Miranda is a totally cow. She has kinda disappeared now though hasn't she.
No. She's appearing in the West End as Miss Hannigan in Annie the musical and doing a marvellous job.

choochooo · 15/07/2017 07:17

Met lots of celebs working as a waitress and I used to go to lots of concerts:

JK Rowling - very nice, very polite and quiet
Chris Hoy - lovely - stood in queue at bar waiting his turn with everyone else
Ant and Dec - were not keen to mingle with people and seemed panicked that they had to walk through bar to get to their table but it was late and bar was panicked so I could understand that. Very nice to staff.
Peter Andre - lovely. I also know people whose children go to his children's school. Apparently he's just so nice.
Will Mellor - nice, signed my banner at a concert he was at
George Clooney - took loads of time to shake everyone's hand and say hi. Really lovely
Katie Price lives near me - she's meant to be very nice and normal. She goes to my local beauty salon and they all think she's really nice. She went to local baby groups and was just one of the mums. I've also seen her shopping in Tesco with Harvey. She's teeny and very tanned.
Jason Donovan was an absolute arse. So rude.
Princess Anne was always very polite. She was patron of a charity I worked for.
Stifler's mom came into our hotel once - she was lovely, so so funny and chatted to everyone.
Ross Kemp got very drunk in the bar but was still very pleasant and talked to all the staff.
Russell Brand - was hiding on steps of the hotel in morning when his team were looking for him. I had to go find him. He was getting some fresh air and said he'd be in in a minute. Really nice guy.
We used to see Dylan Moran everywhere - no one has ever said anything bad about him

choochooo · 15/07/2017 07:20

John Leslie would sit at the bar I worked at. He was fine to me but I heard some staff saying he was a bit sleazy.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 15/07/2017 07:23

Princess Anne may have a reputation for being somewhat rude abrupt. But where I grew up she was the patron of a charity for adults with learning difficulties. Every year they had a public fundraiser. And every year she opened it. She'd bring her teenage children, and they all stayed for the whole event. She'd buy stuff. And she knew all the clients and would bark at them chat to them about what they'd been up to since the last time she'd met them.

My dsis knocked Ronan Keating over. He apologised Grin.

Sallystyle · 15/07/2017 07:25

Leslie Joseph was rude to me.

My dad met Adam Faith a few times and he was always lovely.

I spoke to Darius on the phone Grin he was nice enough.

Ilovewillow · 15/07/2017 07:29

My husband used to manage a theatre restaurant many yrs ago and said Alan Rickman was lovely and asked him to join him and his colleagues for dinner! He has also had some dealings with Bradley Walsh and speaks very highly of him!

madcapcat · 15/07/2017 07:31

Margot fonteyn was wonderful. She was Chancellor at my uni and took it really seriously including doing all the graduation ceremonies. In my year she broke her hip a couple of weeks before but still did all 10 ceremonies, including all 10 processions, stood throughout and still managed to greet every single one of us by name, congratulate us and say something personal to each of us. Prince Philip has always been charming and entertaining whenever I bump into him at horse events . He even gave me a lift back to my moped once. Prince Andrew on the other hand is vile....

PoochSmooch · 15/07/2017 07:36

Not RTFT yet, but I'm going to defend Ben Fogle here.

In 2011 when the volcano went off and all the flights were completely screwed, my husband was trying to get back from Beirut. He was at an airport queuing to try to get on the last plane out, and was standing next to Fogle. They got chatting, two Brits abroad bonding in a crisis situation, and my husband said "I'm sorry to do this, but my wife loves you, if I phone her, would you say Hi to her?". Fogle agreed.

I was driving and I missed the call!! Angry

But he was apparently good fun to stand in a queue with for hours not knowing if he was going to get home or not. So don't despair, Fogle fans, you can carry on loving him Grin

OutwardBound2016 · 15/07/2017 07:39

DH and his friend met Liv Tyler she chatted to them for ages (on a train) and was completely lovely. I met Robson Green donkeys years ago and he was very nice too.

fluffydogs · 15/07/2017 07:42

Will young, sooo lovely. At a concert my sister told one of the staff it was my bucket list to meet him so could he sign my program. He chatted to me during the concert and then afterwards I was taken to his dressing room to meet him, he was a true gent, he had all the time in the world for me. Love him even more now!

Frazzled2207 · 15/07/2017 07:44

Cuir
Is he really?
It was definitely Bill. I can't say he was titchy just that he wasn't as tall as I thought he'd be.

OutComeTheWolves · 15/07/2017 07:48

I live in Newcastle and have heard a lot of stories about Alan Shearer's rudeness.

I've never met him personally but do have one to counter it. A relative works in a school for children with SEN. A while ago Alan Shearer visited for some reason (I forget why). Prior to the visit, one boy in particular was beside himself with excitement. When the day arrived he approached Shearer immediately & then it became apparent that he'd confused AS with David Beckham - asking him how Victoria and Brooklyn were etc etc.

Apparently Alan Shearer just played along said Victoria was fine but he'd left her at home today and didn't once correct or mock the boy. I think many stars with bigger egos wouldn't have been as gracious.

HeirOfNothingInParticular · 15/07/2017 07:49

CaveMum. Had a phone call from John Prescott at work. He was so lovely and charming. I was expecting the call but thought it would be his assistant who rang.

Years ago, when I was working in the voluntary sector, we needed a celebrity to open an event for us, free of charge. We managed to get Sue Johnson and she was amazing. She gave up her Saturday morning for us, was really pleasant and charming, posed for pics, and wore a lovely hat for the occasion! I still have a pic of DD with her.
